Silly shill. You're supposed to false flag as a butt-hurt chrome user. Read your objective notes.

>Not using Firefox ESR

You're doing it wrong.

>fierce
made for homosexual SJW's confirmed

>made for homosexual SJW's confirmed

Who else is using this thing?
Reports?

not OP, but I had ESR with all my niche scripts and extensions installed. Decided to install Quantum separately to try out. The installer didn't give me any options to change install location or anything, just installer right over the top of ESR.

It's still shit

I want my tree style tabs back.
Didn't remember my new tab page settings.

ESR will move to WebExtensions only in 2018. You're only delaying the inevitable.

I hope they fix the sluggish beast that is Firefox on Android.

Built-in container tabs is pretty cool. Everything else is pointless and they broke shit for no reason.

>Built-in container tabs is pretty cool. Everything else is pointless and they broke shit for no reason.
>everything else is pointless
>except the fact that it VISIBLY works twice as fast as previous FF version

I had miserable lags on youtube and twitter but now it's gone.

Just prevent it from updating retard

Ignore the weirdos who hate everything. Its really good.

I had something called CCK Wizard which I'd used to edit the config file on previous Firefox installations to disable the capacity to enter 'safe mode', not that functionality is gone.

Anyone able to help me please?

kinda fucked up my extensions and userchrome, but it's waay faster so i'll live with it

Their operation is underway

It's ok. Some tweaking required with userChrome to make it less cluttered, lots of dumb UI.

Speed wise I can't notice a different

When the autism is too strong

Literally a symptom of autism is that you can’t accept change. You just told everyone you have autism.

and?

Vivaldi is just as fast with all of chrome's extensions when's quantum getting addons back?

Autist, get a reality check. Shilling your stupid shit is annoying and it plagues this board.

Having one symptom of something is hardly an indication that you have the whole thing.

Plus, refusing to accept a degrading change is a perfectly reasonable behavior.

Empty-headed whinging plagues this board.
If you can't come up with a coherent argument, I suggest you kill yourself, as you waste more than just space on this board.

is it incredibly slow for anyone else? everything lags for me

Oh please, you can not discuss a single new piece of software without the autists coming in with full force. Don’t even try to hide it.

When you release your new software, don't use the name of the old software that you smothered, and you won't be harassed by its users.

>get addon to change new tab background color to black because mozilla doesnt want us doing that
>flash of white everytime i open a new tab before it turns black

in the trash it goes

They aren't stopping you from discussing it.
If their opinion upsets you so much, the problem is you.

I'm using it since chrome started giving me trouble lately. It's not killing my system like the old firefox would but there's nothing too fantastic about it either- that I notice at least. I'm not doing anything fancy with my browser- but I don't like that pocket shit so I disabled it.

I just downgraded to 56.0.2 right now. That Firefox Quantum fucked up a lot of my shit.

57 hasn't gotten pushed to Arch stable yet, and I don't feel like enabling testing.
Has the CSD patch been added yet?

user, does the new Firefox use less RAM than the regular one?

you can reproduce them in the userchomecss, think i saw some code on that the other day

Pls respond.

fast and ugly

I don't remember well the old one but it's pretty much on par I think. The new one is snappier though

Serious question. How do I get my bookmark sidebar in one click?

Pocket didn't really change this version.

That's the point though. The post-quantum version of ff is inevitable, anything trying to support legacy is going to eat shit after they get too far from Moz. The idea is to let the ff APIs and webext library fatten up for a while, and to get past 57, where a lot of shit is half implemented. 58 stable will be better, 59 is probably when they'll have all the kinks worked out. And wouldn't you know it, that's when ESR updates.

Good. I can see how it would be a bit of a shock to people who haven't used it in beta at all. Bit snappier, handles high tab count better. Amused that the Noscript guy has been saying he was just waiting for stable to release the webext noscript, and now he's saying he needs a couple more days.

"Getting them back" isn't a useful way to think of it. A few thousand addons have already been made/ported, and more will come as ff gets more APIs. There's some functionality that's permanently ending, mostly gui shit, and they're adding some new functionality that wasn't possible under the old framework. If you need a replacement, check for equivalents

you could use an addon to make buttons on the address bar and use something like

toggleSidebar('viewBookmarksSidebar');

never mind, just figured it out

Is it normal that FF always ticks for 1 CPU usage every couple of seconds even when Im on my desktop? I never consciously noticed this in older versions, not sure if this happened there too.

...

>want to update to try things out
>don't want to deal with finding a bunch of new addons that might not even exist yet to replace the ones that don't have updates
guess I'm not using quantum

also fun fact, screenshot --fullpage doesn't work in about:addons for whatever reason

How botnet is this new webbrowser?

Good sir would you know how to do this?

>bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1325692
>firefox57 --- wontfix
guess I'm not updating to 57

why would you want to disable the ability to enter safe mode? what purpose does that solve

Does it still have memory leak?

youtu.be/AwMAcCztnlM

I use Firefox combined with an addon called Leechblock which helps to prevent me from accessing time-wasting sites and porn, it allows you to set a password to lock you out of the addon screen, etc. and it's been working pretty fool-proof for me.

Only problem is that I've known for a long time that at any point I could just enter firefox's 'safe mode' by clicking the firefox icon on my taskbar while holding the shift key. That meant that anytime I suddenly had the urge to view porn or waste my time, I would end up entering safe mode, which disabled the leechblock addon.

I discovered something called the 'CCK2 Wizard', which allowed me to easily edit the Firefox config file to make it impossible to use the shift key+firefox icon thing I mention above to enter safe mode.

Yesterday that become inoperable due to the latest Firefox upgrade. I'd like to stick with the new version, is anyone able to instruct me on how I might disable this safemode thing on the latest Firefox (Quantum)?

This would really be helpful not only to me but to a lot of people.

Slightly less than before.

Thank you, user.

Does anyone know why this is?

I find it really ugly.

But I was using Firefox along side Chrome before. I had problems with Firefox being slow and crashing. It's a lot, lot, lot faster. And does indeed seem to use a lot less memory than Chrome.

It's a good start, but it's not perfect. Nor is Chrome.

Well, Greasemonkey 4.0 is coming soon. But what do you expect?

I was hardcore botnet, been using quantum for a few hours and it's already leaps and bounds better.

running on a ryzen tho, ymmv

Anyone else having to click the return button twice or thrice sometimes for it to work?

So what happens to noscript? It's not available anymore, and I don't feel safe without it.

can't notice a speed or performance difference, but even on low RAM i'm not someone who pushes my browser to it's limit.

It's ugly as sin though, can we get the old UI back?

umatrix

When will my Mint update FF to 57?

Giorgio made a blog post yesterday saying it will come out later that day, now he updated that blog post saying it will come out sometime later this week. Just use ublock on medium mode for now. Unless you frequent some very dodgy sites you should be fine.

>Removing flags, this API is not going to be written in time to for Firefox 57.

It's p5 meaning they'll accept a patch for it so do it yourself instead of crying about it here.

i like it it's really good
ram seems to be about the same
overall great update

I'm using waterfox 64bit...should i switch to this

Thanks for the update senpai. For addons I've only ever used ublock and noscript, and even though I don't visit dodgy sites, I need to have it for ease of mind. Weird how attached I am to it.

I expect private tabs and rebinding browser keys in linux to at least work

What are some things that you can do exclusively with WE? Genuinely curious, I thought they were strictly inferior functionality wise and the advantage was in performance and security.

Are there any browsers that keep history the way really old browsers used to, like a new entry in the history every time you visited a site? Recently I tried to look up when I started visiting a site was, and found that both FF and Chrome only stored the "last visited" time.

wow such sad the installer didn't work for the 0.000001% of case where a luddite is accidentally installing the latest version of firefox

Whenever I open a new tab, I still have this firefox symbol on the top left that opens the introduction menu for the new features. It doesn't go away even when I click on skip. Is there any way to remove it?

the fuck am I doing wrong?

Stop using firefox and get a proper fork.

not using arch but something tells me it's probably not on their stable branch, may be in testing. not sure. just use this

wget archlinux.org/packages/testing/x86_64/firefox/download/ -O firefox.pkg.tar.xz
sudo pacman -U firefox.pkg.tar.xz

about:config
change browser.onboarding.enabled to false

As a pleb macfag that uses chrome for basic web browsing, would this be any faster than chrome or safari?

This new firefox is destroying my CPU and RAM randomly. Uses 2gb and 80% CPU for 10-15 seconds then goes back to normal. Anyone else have this problem? Also, anyone know how I can get my old tabs back? I can't remember all of them (I had 30+)

Very upset about all this t b h

If speed is the only thing you care about then stick with chrome for now. This firefox update implemented their new css engine but the other parts (renderer, compositer, js engine) still haven't been rewritten yet.

I'm diggin' it

thank you. Weird how they would not let you just click it away normally.

Some parts have been rewritten in Nightly and the remaining ones are a WIP. It's faster than release by a mile.

I am, I love it
only hate how lame the vertical tabs addons are, kinda break here and then too

>reddit
it's time to go back

nowadays leddit is miles better in terms of quality than nu-Sup Forums

also it's 2017, quit pretending you don't browse reddit

>sudo pacman -S firefox

shows what?

By the way, anyone else who had this problem that firefox in standby without you doing anything still uses 1-2% of the CPU, this fixed it for me. Now it stays at 0% cpu usage when I'm not doing anything.

For what its worth, my laptop uses macOS and I've found Safari to be much faster than Chrome. Wipr is a nice ad blocking extension.

still waiting for a competitor to chrome...

aka never

my old firefox was fucking slow and chugging, this shit is lightening compared to old ff and pale moon
I approve

kinda got it where I like it now, but I don't know why they make it so hard to style the new tab page and I have to install a fucking addon to workaround it

it's pretty quick though so that's nice

Behind all the meme boards, Sup Forums's the most reddit one on this site though.

if you're concerned abour ram usage
use this extension addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tab-suspender-tab-unloader/?src=userprofile

Why would you use touch mode on such a tiny screen?

why is smooth scrolling so terrible in this version of firefox? I don't recall it being so shitty in older versions. Chrome is fine, Edge is fine, Brave is fine, what's with this shit?

>using smooth scrolling

>including a feature in a half assed way
>blaming the person for using said feature
Huh

it's okay to have autism

I installed Pale Moon and it's not that bad, is this my new backup?
