Arch.
Debian.
ubuntu or derivative
debian is harder to use and the guy saying arch is trolling
ChromeOS or maybe ZorinOS. Don't listen to the nerds and NEETs who waste their time thinking they're cool just cuz they can type stuff in the command line
Stop asking this dumb question. They are fucking free. Take a week and experiment with a couple of them and pick the right one for you.
Ubuntu. Download VMWare Player or VirtualBox first if you want to try it out without installing it.
Ubuntu is designed exactly for office work and general media/internet browsing. They try to minimize command line dependency, too.
TENS
no better hardened OS than the official distro of two of the shadiest organizations of the US government: the NSA and the Chair Force
If by work you mean CAD, DAW, photoshop or office work then windows is the only choice
No! I mean writing, programming and netflix
You can do those on Windows
Ubuntu is the wangblows of linux, so go get it
Ubuntu and derivatives are great, but Debian is also great if you want to learn something, automatic install and some configuration is ok to me.
Just use Ubuntu, mine version is 16.04 LTS, basically what you need.
To use Netflix you need to spoof the user-agent, or use Chrome.
The latest Firefox with this works flawlessly:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/55.0.2883.87 Safari/537.36
underrated post
That one is true, but for start try elementaryOS
Gentoo is a good distro for anyone.
kubuntu or kde neon, then install baka-mplayer and mpv.
Mx Linux, it just works, based on Debian and free of systemd.
Ubuntu/Fedora/Suse: these ase the most user friendly, no string attached distros.
Definitively not Arch or Gentoo.
Linux Mint
DarkArch
