It is good to always be informed.
Ethan Sanchez
vega 56/64 + monitor (fsync) vs 1070/ti/80 + monitor (gsync) is a $300 -$450 price difference respectively where I live. Strongly considering it but I'm a bit concerned about noise - does anyone here own one?
Julian Rivera
Listen my brothers of pooh. Get a 1800x and forget coffee lake , dont get the i5 8600k , it has no value, mahariji says Intel flops . I'd stick with zenjit series poo-build
I would never buy a gsync monitor, they are way too expensive.
Noah Collins
Sure, why not. Most hard drives fail early or late, not in-between.
Jaxon Clark
Even without the monitor the vegas are about $100 cheaper than their nvidia counterpart here. I've never bought amd before so I'm curious for something different too
Ian Phillips
wait for aftermarket coolers for vega there's driver issues now anyway
Nicholas Gray
Am I misunderstanding the QVL or something? I'm new to this stuff. all the 3200mhz kits are 64GB kits which i can't afford. Like someone on Amazon mentioned useing the corsair LPX ram with it but not which speed or kit. am I safe to assume the kit i picked will work or is that not how this works?
They're not going to be available until as late as March next year. I spoke to both XFX and Asus reps yesterday
Ryan Walker
Was wondering about this as well. Is it worth paying $45 more for a Ryzen 1800x over a Ryzen 1700?
Elijah White
compatibility isn't an issue anymore, just update motherboard if it's running old firmware
my dad works for gigabyte and they're putting five out next week
Evan Bailey
Make that a $70 difference since Microcenter has the 1700x for $259 and the 1800x for $329
David Price
I need a new case, mine is over 10 years old now and I want to install a DH15 cooler. What do you guys suggest? I always buy Lian Li cases when I build computers for other people, they last forever.
Pic related is my current case, it lasted me a good decade and I replaced the top USB 2.0 panel with 3.0 about 3 years ago.
Sebastian Torres
Should I buy mobo+wireless card or mobo with built in wifi?
They are both nearly the same price, except the mobo with built in wifi has muh rgb.
Tyler Lewis
in Australia? Don't think so
Matthew Cruz

I own a 64, yes it is loud as fuck.
Benjamin Lopez
you're very slow to adopt new things aren't you user? haha

Please spoiler that image next time. Thank you.
James Martinez
What are the best AM4 boards for overclocking (regarding VRM)?
Easton Martinez
do you regret buying it? I have ANC headphones but I don't wish to drive my partner insane either
David Turner
I just really like the round shell design of the case. Plus it was around $300 when I bought it. Once I take everything out I will give it a deep cleaning and email Lian Li about getting a new door. Mine has a dent.
I know they keep blueprints, but I wonder if they will pull them out to make an old part again.
Zachary Murphy
If i dont care about video games is there a reason for me to ever go with Intel?
Jeremiah Evans
it was a snail joke

My original post
Yeah for sure, I just wanted to test it out I think it'll be fine if I'm careful and diligent about cleaning. See I see my PC as a centerpiece of my bedroom so I try to make sure my desk is clean and my PC case looks nice. Personally I feel the white will contrast with my black desk well and I can decal it easier.
I'm going to run a GTX 1080 on it, but I plan to SLI in like a couple years not sure. I just like the possibility you know. I am aware the B350s dont really do this. I did a lot of research into the concepts I just don't know what to ultimately go with.
I like the MSI because it's cheaper and it's white which goes with my aesthetics but the Asus is just trusted for me and I love their STRIX products (and it's got some nice white accents). The Gigabyte is a good brand from what I hear and I love the LEDs on it as well as the white accents.
It also helps that both the Gigabyte and the Asus have great sound chips and from what I understand they allow you to get your DDR4 freq up to 3200mhz, and I have a 3000mhz set of RAM.
Aside from that I just kinda wanted some second opinions maybe there's something about these boards I don't know about that breaks the deal or makes one better than the other.
Owen Sanders
No
Joshua Diaz
Also I should probably mention I am absolutely overclocking my Ryzen
Dylan Roberts
No, I don't hear it while gaming because of headphones. I don't regret it entirely but I do feel like I should have spent the extra money for the liquid cooled version. Return period ends in two weeks so I'm still debating returning it and paying extra for the liquid cooled.
Don't buy blower cards.
Dylan Barnes
Is the gysnc premium worth the additional $200-300? I'm in the market for a 1440p/144hz or 340x1440p monitor. My rig currently consists of a R7 1700 and 1080 Ti (and I may or may not be upgrading again next year). Hoping to pick something up this winter, any suggestions?
Connor Nelson
Is the liquid cooled one a completely self contained unit or do I need pump/reservoir etc already? Never used liquid cooling
Logan Evans
I recently had a power outage while my computer was running and some files got corrupted when the power cut. That and the fact that I need more plugs for stuff has me looking for a extension cord/surge protector. I know just a surge protector won't do anything for loss of power but I'd feel a little better having my PCs a little more protected. I have no idea what brands I should be looking at or if that even matter for these things. Thanks in advance for any help
Connor Smith
Self contained. You only need to install the radiator and fan into a fan slot and you're set.
Ryan Miller
Oh nice, I might look into that. I guess its a little more audible at idle because of the cooler but much quieter under load?
Ayden Barnes
I haven't heard the LC version but idle on the aircooled one is pretty quiet (800rpm or so, basically inaudible with headphones on). Under load the aircooled vega is a jet engine, I am not making this up it is the loudest card I've ever had. Under load the LC version is just as quiet as on idle, I have a friend who has it and he says it's really quiet, and I would be inclined to believe it.
Nathan Morales
Asking again, what GPU should I pair my i5 4670k at 4GHz to be able to reach 120 FPS in games?
Justin Martin
The Asus STRIX looks really sweet in a white case imo, these boards allow SLI.
However the case sadly gets ruined so I copied some guy with the NZXT - S340 Elite (White)
It depends on how intent on originality you are because yeah my idea kinda copies someone else but I think that mobo/case is pretty good.
Michael Bennett
Thanks for the feedback mate. Do you know how the 56 compares? and is your card undervolted?
Owen Evans
From what I know the 56 runs a tad colder and so requires less fan speed to keep cool, but is as other blower cards noisy as fuck as well. I've got various different settings on my card that I keep messing around with, I've both undervolted, overclocked, undervolted and overclocked, underclocked, etc.
Sweet spot for "silence" while gaming (for when I have friends over and we use speakers) is setting fan limit at 2400rpm with an underclock to 1400mhz and a heavy undervolt. Just be warned, undervolting is not a way to make the card substantially quieter, it is a blower card and blower cards blow, pun intended. If you really want Vega but can wait, just wait for AIB. I only bought blower because I got the silver limited edition one. It's sexy as fuck, I'll give it that.
Ayden Richardson
Depends on resolution and the choice of game and settings, but probably 1070 or 1070Ti at 1080p At 1440p a 1080Ti. Read the OP lately?
Joshua Gomez
I might just wait it out, guess we'll see come Christmas how my finances are. I actually love the look of the black cards and prefer it to the silver
Lucas Sanders
I love how all of them look too, blower cards are sexy, but they're so goddamned loud.
Adrian Gutierrez
>DT 770
Best headphones i've ever owned. Served me well for years and their bass heavy focus suits me just fine as a metalhead (as well as a fan of industrial). Makes the bassline in Prodigy's Breathe wobble in a magical way.
Luis Garcia
dt770 isn't exactly bass focused
it's V shaped
Mason Green
Give me that sweet AIO water cooler advice.
I've got a Corsair 300R case, so anything will fit. Lets hear the options. I currently run a Hyper 212 Evo.
Tyler Reed
It's all the same premise If you insist on getting one get one with the largest possible radiator for the best performance Running fans in pull instead of push makes it easier to clean
Carson Baker
Custom loop or big air.
Tyler Perez
Why is it impossible to find a decent case that isn't covered in LEDs or tempered glass?
Do any of you know of a case that doesn't have 5.25" drive bays, has USB 2.0 and 3.0 on the front and isn't gaudy to look at?
Honestly the 5.25" isn't that big of a deal just quality of life since I don't use them.
Grayson Garcia
Dark base 900 (explicitly not the pro version). The Define R5 comes with a non tempered glass version ansdis THE Sup Forums approved case.
>1600x >120mm AIO >960 Evo >Vega Why would you do this
Henry Martinez
>1600x If I have to get a cooler I may as well pay $25 for a nice binned chip >120mm AIO I don't see any other option in the case? I am new to this though so maybe I'm wrong >960 evo anons told me to spend the extra $50 instead of getting the 850 sata and I thought the form factor would work well here >vega $200-300 less than water cooled equivalent and freesync monitor is $300 less than g-sync equivalent
Lincoln Barnes
Mitx or atx there is no in between
Benjamin Russell
yes there is. Micro-atx is actually fantastic unless you're going multi-GPU setup or you need all the expansion slots.
Dominic Morales
There isn't much point in AIO watercooling, and especially 120mm. 1600x does not perform better compared to a 1600 when they are both overclocked.
Xavier Jones
So get a smaller board and dint use it? Lmao, thats why you go mitx.
Chase Perez
>There isn't much point in AIO watercooling There would seem to be in a case with terrible airflow?
Lucas Morales
>binning isn't real
Landon Bennett
It really isn't. 1600x can be limited to 3.9GHz and 1600 can be limited to 4.1. It's up to luck.
Levi Rivera
But can it reliably fit a 1080ti?
Carter Mitchell
I've looked at a lot of reviews and reddit threads on them over the last month. 1600 is almost unanimously OC'd to 3.8 and 1600x to 4/4.1
Wyatt Ramirez
Temps would be better if you put in good fans and used a better cooler than if you use AIO radiators.
You do realise AIO's still require inbound airflow to provide cool air to the radiatior right? The point of watercooling is to use the better therma transfer water offers over air but AIO's have shitty pumps with low flow rate which renders that advantage most nonexistant and big air coolers (R1 ultimate, D15, Silver arrow etrc) match or exceed 240mm AIO for surface area.
Kayden Collins
How does that at all depend on the board?
Vouching for the d15. 3.8ghz 1700 under load hits 55 Celsius. Idle is 30.
Jack Howard
Double check with the specific case and 1080ti, but most likely yes.
Currently using Define Mini C and it fits the majority of full length GPUs
Jose King
Oh in that case I'll put the fans I had selected before back in. May need to remove one 140 for the vega's so maybe I should get the Shift X? >au.pcpartpicker.com/list/yWHrTH Inbound airflow is much better than outbound in this case (from what I can tell). But I've never used any watercooling before I don't know anything about it to be quite honest.
Justin Allen
Clearance of boards and cases, ran into a couple conflicts before. Although things seem better now
Julian Gray
Board layout is fairly standard, obvs dont pit a d15 on it.
Nolan James
>Vouching for the d15. 3.8ghz 1700 under load hits 55 Celsius. Idle is 30.
Ryzen 7 sips power evenwhen cranked. My own 1700 needs just shy of 1.4v under load to hit 3.8ghz but paired with the previously mentioned silver arrow (crosshair hero to - AM3+ mounting holes) ghets similar temps as a D15. These days a D15's biggest advantage is its mounting as some of the other big coolers aren't as elegant.
Side note: I once bolted a 4000rpm~ 120mm delta fan to the silver arrow heatsink to cool a 4.7ghz vishera chip (cut 10c off compared to the stock fans) and if I get bored I might try it on my 1700 under prime95. Said fan sounds like an airport but fuck me it shifts some air and if something can be air cooled that fan will do it. I also happen to have an equivalent San Ace fan floating about taken from an old Dell machine that got scrapped.
>Inbound airflow is much better than outbound in this case (from what I can tell). But I've never used any watercooling before I don't know anything about it to be quite honest.
More cool air coming in = more heat you can move from a given heatsink to a given exhaust. Its AIO shitters that overlook this and let their motherboard vrms fry/gpu starve of cooler air because "yolo AIO means FUCK AIRFLOW BECAUSE WATER AMIRITE!?".
Henry Bailey
That's what I'm saying though, this case has much better intake than it does exhaust. >au.pcpartpicker.com/list/fDGHwV Here is the new list with the X for that extra 140mm and air cooling. I added a strong 120mm to give better exhaust when needed. What do you think?
Anthony Thomas
Haha same here, crosshair hero with a spare am3 bracket to mount it. Its funny how it was an absolute life saver. Let me avoid buying the mounting kit or having to make a claim with noctua.
Jace Kelly
It's hard to say what to do for this case, since no option will result in optimal performance. What I can say is that you are best off getting a 1600 and using the Spire, and not getting a 950 Evo because the extra speed doesn't affect performance in all but a select few tasks.
Cameron Ross
Honestly more boards could've gone with AM3+ mounting holes as it helps lower the barrier to entry. Admittedly if the crosshair had not come with AM3+ support I would've bought a D15 but being able to reuse my silver arrow saved me a pretty penny. I've had 3 years of use out of this cooler and plan to get 3 years more and i've yet to max out its capabilities - the motherboard vrms have always given up first.
Elijah Garcia
The only thing that kind of annoys me is that it doesnt come with an am3 plate. Defeats the purpose a little. I only had one spare because the 212 uses its own
Angel Sanchez
Oh sweet, what do you mean by the case being ruined?
What's the difference between the NZXT one and the phanteks one I was gonna get?
Logan Wood
Not him. Nzxt cases are annoying to work with and are actually low quality. Not the best airflow either
Thomas Cook
special cooler reccomended for future upgrades? ex. cooler master hyper tx3?
Chase Martin
212 Tx3 D15 U12 X62 52 42
Wyatt Powell
This is what I've been hearing too which is why I'm going for the phanteks, I heard some good stuff about it.
But yeah I guess ill go with the STRIX Mobo unless anyone has any good points to make about the Gigabyte Aurorus
Ryder Gomez
I get 5% off on amazon up to $1500 gonna wait for black friday and get a 1080ti for hopefully not much
Nicholas Harris
Make sure you read the fine print
Andrew King
the fine print says buy what ever you want, so long as it's from amazon
Sebastian Moore
i need a solution for my audio in my PC. For some reason, it just sounds terrible. Even my $150 smartphone has better audio then the audio in my PC. Need a cheap soundcard or Dac/amp that does NOT use realtek that would at the very least bring the sound quality to normal. Preferably under $50
Blake Davis
>still trying to decide what fucking GPU to buy >3gb 1060's are like $189 >$130 1050ti at bestbuy black friday, or grade b 1050ti at evga website for $120 >$250 1060 6gb >ryzen 3 1200 build on a budget
I don't want to spend a ton of money, but I don't want a potato, I don't care about playing super new games but I want witcher 3 to run decent. Do Will these gpu prices ever get better, or are we stuck in the machine forever?
fucking save me from this hell I can't decide.
Camden Lewis
Witcher 3 uses a lot of VRAM I hear. GPU prices are going to be up until probably next generation.
Jacob Morris
I heard someone say last thread that it says it needs a lot, but it uses less in reality. When are the next gen of gpu's supposed to come out, and how much does it tend to affect prices of older cards?
Andrew Reed
What's the maximum number of GPUs I can fit into a single computer and how to achieve that (weird scientific computing/ML setup.) Would it be more cost effective to use multiple computers with a single GPU each? Which GPUs are cheapest per unit of performance?
