This project is less than 3 days old, so we need all the expertise and help we can get. Every contribution is valuable! Gather a group of friends and join the irc and wiki.
To do: - [s]decide on standards for software[/s] We are most likely using libremesh w/ b.a.t.m.a.n. - decide on standards for hardware - create resources for newbies on the wiki - gather more people - start building something in the Houston & Austin area
for ones adding stuff to the map, it would be nice to provide some kind of contact info, like email. just make cock.li account if don't want to dox self.
Jacob Lopez
Verizon's Anti-NN IP backbone is called ALTER.NET (no really)
There is an 'alternative news' website called AlterNet.org
Owen Walker
Gay. The name isn't final though, just needed a pic and some user from the last thread made that one
Brandon Baker
>decide on standards for hardware
William Wood
Terrible logo, try again. How do expect us to take this seriously with a copy.
Carson Taylor
why did we make a new thread when the last one only had 175 replies what the shit guys
Landon Lewis
>b.a.t.m.a.n. >decentralized How do you decentralize the IP allocation?
Jordan Garcia
>It needs to be material design or flat design. My friends at reddit won't use it because of the logo.
Blake Morales
solved in cjdns but do you really that?
Wyatt Wilson
>falling for the ole "we need a logo" trap gets Sup Forums every time
Nathan Parker
Call it The Wired
Dylan Green
If you want to make a logo using lain as inspiration make it right. This is the best color.
>he doesn't recognize the symbol Look at this umbilical man!
Camden Powell
Wired makes sense in the 90s context SEL takes place in. Not a lot of people actually browsing or getting deep into the net, it's an exclusive community free of mainstream.
Today the roles have reversed, we are trying to escape it. We are searching for The Unwired.
Ünternet was the absolute best idea from the last thread. Alternnet is taken
Hudson Foster
Read, I said you copied the logo. I know it's from lain.
Parker Gomez
Are you sure outernet is taken? In which case, don't want to favor vidya guys but outer haven is also another great contender, and could become very popular.
Nothing bad with AlterNet neither, apart from the obvious memes. Is a logical name, and quite catchy too.
Levi Jones
>New thread >Last one isn't even close to a limit >No activity Dead project
Xavier White
>two people live nearly next to me even though I'm in buttfuck nowhere
Did not expect that.
Nolan Peterson
>tfw closest marker is at 300km
Justin Powell
>inter net >gnu net >use net >Sup Forums ternet Fucking retards
David Smith
As much as I would love to see this project at least start taking shape, there is no way it will succeed with only Sup Forumsentoomen. We need at least to involve other boards, a whole Sup Forums actually. It's the only hope
Parker Thompson
This, we need to make another thread at least on /diy/ and get one more platform.
Xavier Robinson
>libremesh I found out there is a community using libremesh near me, what a surprise. I might get in touch with them, you guys should do the same.
Adrian Richardson
This is your reminder that GNUnet needs a new UI, preferrably in ncurses
Daniel Allen
This. The model is GOAT, the GUI is fucking shit, just look at this, LOOK.
Jose Butler
normie filter
Cooper Ramirez
I can agree that this looks totally horrible but the appearance is not important, I would be fine with cli as long as it works well
Nathaniel Moore
Sup Forumsternet is a temporary name, faggot
Daniel Rivera
How about a LoRa implementation? Everyone sends/recvs with a LoRa transciever. Search up LoRaWAN.
Ryder White
Damn does everyone live in Wythville VA? >Tfw live in California but still alone
Jack Richardson
There's 2 poos from india on the map
Nathaniel Sullivan
Isn't ünternet the secret underground internet the villains used in Justice League? (the cartoon)
Luke Jones
>LoRaWAN data rates range from 0.3 kbps to 50 kbps
Dominic Smith
Alberta fags get in here
Brandon Williams
Nothern California?
Landon Robinson
>solved in cjdns I know but cjdns routing sucks >but do you really that? What?
Julian Wilson
do you really want that*
Joshua Howard
>do you really want that* I use it already. If the supernode code works it could be a good solution.
Evan Taylor
God I wish. No SoCal
Michael Phillips
Okay, so it needs monochrome icons, a much smaller toolbar and the font on the graph needs switching to sans-serif and reducing in size very slightly.
Caleb Bell
The main problem was setting gnunet is a bitch, so we came with the idea of making a question based setup in ncurses inspired on ZNC youtube.com/watch?v=MRY6UyZuPNw
James Bennett
Zeronet is pretty neat for a decentralized p2p network
Xavier Gonzalez
...
Blake Jones
What do you all think about the name CISP -Citizen Internet Service Provider
Oliver Moore
?
fuck off with your thread shilling
Anthony Lopez
I vote for Zer0net
Brandon Wood
Maki net is the only name
Levi Foster
alternet desu
Isaiah Hernandez
you killed two threads for this
Dylan Long
How did you find them? Is there a list of them or something?
The issue with this is that the alternet (Sup Forumsternet, whatever) isn't going to be an ISP, it's going to be it's own mesh network, could it have exit nodes to the internet? Of course. Will we have entrance nodes? Also, most likely yes.
Eli Hughes
Oh sorry, just got off of my 8 hour slave wage shift so excuse my retardation.
I meant to ask
Ethan Perez
Could probably slap a node in my grandmothers house, she right next door.
Could also hide one behind the lockers in the crew room at work.
You guys have a userlimit on the IRC? Open it up guys, lets talk.
Daniel Hall
cunts fix this Cannot join #gternet (User limit reached)
Tyler Ramirez
chan's op is afk
Kevin Howard
FIXED
Connor Wilson
sorry guys my chanlimit script fucked up. if it happens again i'll just disable limit
Michael Campbell

>A big cunt for the logo
Juan Perry
Thousand Oaks bros, I just added myself to the map with my email in Oak Park. We should get something together!
Nicholas Moore
This would work very well in NYC. Wireless mesh net, most likely. I'm on 14th and 8th. Anyone nearby to join?
Aiden Baker
ventura here, go fuck yourself kid
Nicholas Scott
Engineering student here. What can I do to help the cause?
Blake Bailey
go play with some gears you brainlet
David Butler
wireless hardware, actual physical connectivity
Ian Mitchell
We have plans on using either omni-directional antennas, poin-to-point microwaves, or laser transmitters called ronjas. We have instructions for ronjas but we need more manuals to build whatever we decide so you can help to provide guides easy for anyone to build.
Fuck off.
Owen Perez
so are houston and austin working on shit right now? is all coordination happening on eight chan? i haven't checked
Adam Flores
Virginia should actually be ground zero, they're all neighbors.
read wiki, join irc, put your city on the map, get friends involved
Alexander Myers
>The Unwired Looks like we found our name
Luke Hernandez
There's two names I can come up with off the top of my head: inner-net relay-net
Kevin Myers
Lets give up and let it as alternet guys. I personally wanted outernet but what gives, we are not gonna spend like a month on the name dont we?
Asher Fisher
Nah it looks very lain
Levi Walker
Netrunner has been making threads for what, 8 months now? They're still making new logos. We're not doing too bad compared to them.
Andrew Hill
Unwired is goat name
Carson Stewart
So, how high are the chances of getting v& for illegal content?
Jaxson Powell
>They're still making new logos. Yeah but they already decided on the name.
I do agree.
Matthew Ortiz
>all those nodes in Wytheville of all places What in Heaven's hollow is that all about
Bentley Rodriguez
Naming the community The Unwired sounds awesome, even if the project itself would be named different. Maybe we should call ourselves The Unwired from now on.
Also this all seeing eye as a sort of symbol gives me a kind of feel that seems just right.
James Martinez
An all-seeing eye, a woman's cunt or a fatass with a small head?
Jonathan White
c y b e r p u n k
Leo Martin
Agree with this. The actual network should have a more catchy name like the ones that have been suggested such as ünternet, hocnet or alternet, but the community could go by "The Unwired" for comfy cyberpunk feels
Jose Martin
Agreed, it sounds great for the community. Also, while using Sup Forums sounds pretty good for promotion and general talks, I think we may need something more like a forum, but not an actual forum. What about a board made with Awoo? Something like dangeru.us but actually serious. I wouldn't mind hosting it myself, but I have a 7Mb and my websites are really slow
Nicholas Lee
>The Unwired THIS >all seeing eye nooooooo
Noah Gonzalez
>something more like a forum, but not an actual forum.
How about a Gitlab instance: git.jollo.org/gternet The IRC group set it up, and we're trying to use it for organized decision making and discussion. Of course, we've also got the wiki: mesh.gentoo.today
