If you want help:
>State the budget & CURRENCY for your build
>List your uses, e.g. Gaming, Video Editing, VM Work
>For monitors, include purpose (e.g., photoediting, gaming) and graphics card pairing (if applicable)

CPUs:
>NO i5 7500/7600K or i7 7700/K. THEY ARE DEFUNCT AND SUPERSEDED BY COFFEE LAKE
>G4560/G4600 for non-gaming (light tasks) or bare minimum gaming builds with a dedicated graphics card
>R3 1200 - Budget builds (best with OC + fast RAM)
>R5 1600 / i5 8400 - Great gaming or multithreaded use CPUs
>R7 / Used Xeon / Threadripper / i7 - Heavy Multi-Tasking / VM Work / Mixed use

RAM:
>Current CPUs benefit from high speed RAM; 3000-3200 MHz is ideal
>Before buying RAM for Ryzen, check your Mobo's QVL or look for user reports

Graphics cards:
>Consider Vega 56 for a Freesync monitor
>Crypto-Currency miners have driven GPU prices up (particularly Radeon)
1080p
>GTX 1050Ti and 3GB 1060 are the only reasonably priced cards; 6GB 1060 or 4GB 580 if you want to overpay a little
>GTX 1070 if you're looking for very high (100+) framerates and you have a CPU and monitor to match
1440p
>GTX 1070/Ti and 1080 are standard choices; currently overpriced
>GTX 1080Ti if you're looking for very high (100+) framerates and you have a CPU and monitor to match
2160p (4K)
>GTX 1080Ti

General:
>PLAN YOUR BUILD AROUND YOUR MONITOR IF GAMING
>A 240GB or larger SSD is almost mandatory; consider m.2 form factor

Have a 144hz monitor on the way

UNLIMITED POWER.
My mobo temp appears to be borked.

Not bad, here's mine. I have another 2TB HDD that's not in my hotswap bay right now, along with a few 500GB externals

I bought GSkill Ripjaws V 3000Mhz RAM when I built my PC awhile back, but every time I tried to change the RAM speed from 2133 to 3000 the computer crashed. I have a B350 motherboard.

Do you guys have any advice on boosting the RAM to its advertised speed?

Threadripper 1950x guy here from the last thread.

Is 1000w going to be enough to drive that and two 1080ti's?

Looking forward to slapping it together, it's going inside this malaise 90's beige case with some sort of a window mod

Update BIOS

Yeah

Is your RAM on the mobo QVL?
If yes, go to the bios and use XMP profile.
If no, you can try use XMP or try set it manually
Otherwise, you are SOL

Look for the XMP button n BIOS
If it is ASUS, some users have been posting issues in which case I'd consider returning and trying another (pure anecdotal evidence)

Update BIOS and set it to 2933

Is my GPU the only thing that can cause artifacts? I've replaced my processor, and my ram passed a ram check.

Yes, if you've got artifacts it's 99% chance the graphics card

Artifacts is 80% hardware. 20% software.
So test with another game/bench.
Remember to remove your OC as instable OC causes artifacts.

Are shimmering edges with 8x AA a GPU issue?

Doubt it, I set up 4x MSAA and I can still see the fucking shimmers

For Gaming, Streaming, and just a workstation. Looking to stay under $1.5k. Settling for a 1060 for now but upgrading next year.

Looking for Storage and Monitor recommendations

Fuck it, putting my trip on. I'm the Threadripper guy.

Are all of the Corsair LPX Vengeance modules pretty much good to go with TR? I have 2666 C16 2x8gb and apparently TR likes 3000mhz and above, should I push the 2666 to 3000 or just buy faster ram?

Setup is a 1950x and ASUS Zenith Extreme, single R9 290 4gb for now will be dual 1080ti

What about this on certain webpages? I checked on another PC and it's a solid color.

Out of morbid curiosity what's your monitor and how small is your dick?

Obviously if you can OC your current RAM do that, if you haven't bought RAM yet buy some rated to the speed you want

playtool.com/pages/artifacts/artifacts.html
Could be the cable, I guess

Some cheap shit LCD 1920x1050 I'll be fixing that too eventually.

the only reason I'm asking is I remember seeing on Sup Forums a while back how picky Ryzen was with memory and I don't know if that carried over to TR

If you're running 1440p you're better off with an i5 8400 and a 1070 or better

Well, I don't have anything that looks like that. Though there was one game that always had artifacts after I loaded it up, but those would go away after 5 seconds.

I see lines and im on a cheap Thinkpad E-series with AMD APU

You didn't answer the dick question.. I'm guessing sub-5"?

Anyway there is absolutely no point to dual 1080Tis unless you already have a 4K 144Hz monitor.. which do not exist

Can anyone suggest me a decent monitor up to $350. Mainly for gaming and movies,I've got i5 3570,R9 380 so I think a 144Hz is nice but I will never reach that fps in newer games.

There's a great one in the OP pcpartpicker

My motherboard has the same problem. It should be "safe" right?

What about this? Are the flagpoles supposed to look like this with 8x AA?

It's big enough to get the job done.

Will a single 1080ti be a noticeable difference or should I just keep the R9, I've been happy with it got it cheap

Final build I think posted this here before ended up changing Mobo and RAM because Ryzen can get up to 3200 apparently and also this has a better clearance for the cooler (thats how it seems in the pictures anyway, at least compared to Trident.) Just need to know if I'll need to buy cords or anything. Like a better cable for the SSD or etc; the one I'm using rn isn't as good as it could be. Also added the case fans. What is some good insulation foam I can use to seal the cracks? Is a fan controller worth it? lel

pcpartpicker.com/list/V339f8

Drop your faggy trip

anyone here have experience with 90* degree rotated motherboard cases? like the silverstone ft05?

The posted temperatures seem really nice

Can you apply 3 fans infront of the meshify?

Also what's the best 144 freesync monitor? I was looking at Optix G24C since it's $200 rn

I tried updating BIOS but my computer still wont boot with the RAM at 2933MHZ

Fuck off poorfag it's just for the Threadripper questions and shit, check your Aspergers at the login screen

>Hurrr durrrr i must have a trip when I answer questions
KYS

Is your RAM on your Mobo QVL?

Sorry if I sound dumb but what's QVL?

>two 1080ti's
what for
you only need one at maximum

Qualified Vendor List.

oh fuck it's not

but the 32gb version of it is

Well if it is not, then you are SOL because it might be work at the advertised speed.
You best now is to update bios but since it still doesn't work, slowly step up your RAM speed and see what is the highest it can reach. That is why there is a note in the OP to always check QVL, so as to avoid situations like this.

My R9 380 is enough for CSGO/BF4 in 144 fps, with lower settings of course.

But I think it would be better to just stick to 1080p 60hz, the 380 is at its best there and will give good graphical performance in most titles.

For $350 you can find a decently specced out monitor, like 1080p 144hz or a 1440p 60hz, but since your gpu is most optimal for a lower performance I'd say stick to 1080p 60hz and find a nice 24" model with IPS for the time being. Maby one of those freesync models even to make things smoother.

I'm thinking along the lines of this one:
Samsung S24F350FHU
Or if you already have a decent 1080p monitor:
AOC Pro-line Q2775PQU

I'd probably pick the latter since viewing experience is better overall since you don't game on your monitor 24/7.

I have three hard drives in my current PC: 1 hard drive with W10 and two others combined with W7. Is there a way I can access the files from the W7 hard drives from my W10 hard drive?
I don't have a hard drive adapter on me because otherwise, I would have simply taken out the W7 hard drives and connected them to an adapter so that I can access the files I want.

Manually putting in the rated RAM speed/voltage didn't work, but enabling A-XMP did

Thanks for the help

Enabling XMP should always be your first option.
Only manually put in the speed/volt if there is no XMP

What is the issue? They are all connected to your mobo right? Just access them via windows explorer?

Ohh and my monitor is the AOC 24" G2460PF 144Hz.

Its great performing, its very functional, and its the cheapest option in its class (aside from its non-Freesync brother). Can't recommend it more.
Downsides being the awful red bar at the bottom, front facing green power on led and that the screen pretty much lacks any decent factory color calibration. Nothing that 5 minutes in windows color calibration can't fix but unlike most monitor brands you really can't use the monitor until you have calibrated it.

Should be in a Sup Forums "hall of fame" for most recommended monitors.

Unfortunately probably yes

Keep 290 until you get a better monitor

If you're bothering with a new monitor get 144Hz Freesync VA panel.
The one in the OP is $215 new on ebay

Ok, but outdated. VA panels are out for the same price

>Ok, but outdated. VA panels are out for the same price

Ohh I see, prices in my corner of the world haven't caught up yet.

You can fill in 3 120mm or 2 140mm in the front of Meshify C.

Will this era be remembered as the golden age of PC builds?

For 15+ years now you could have still been using the same PC with incremental upgrades.

Everything is modular and replaceable.

I recently got a good deal on an i5 4460. Will it be fine with a 1060 3GB?

Nevermind, I'm retarded

What's the best new poverty GPU for watching videos and light gaming?
Something to slap into a 12 year old kid computer

Unlikely considering how jews like intel force their customers to upgrade mobos and ram every couple generations of cpus.

Yes. But get a 6GB one instead.

iGPU

?
does not compute

Switch the ram for 3200Mhz 14 14 14 34 it's that means it's probably Samsung b die and will be.much less of a headache to get to 3200.

But you just pop out mobo/Ram, pop new one in, simple AF.

Sorry ur tarded, rip.

Which one would you recommend?

All of this fucking RAM is big as fuck with the pointless aesthetic shit on it and it wont fit with my cooler REEEEEEE

If I want to watch 4k porn what do I need?

>For 15+ years now you could have still been using the same
>For 15+ years now
>you could have
>still been using the same

Something like this would be plenty: pcpartpicker.com/list/Nw2nZ8

I'm being serious

That is plenty. The CPU in that build supports 4k at 60Hz.

Just grab the cheapest after you check the reviews real quick.

Flare X Nibba

I thought I needed a graphics card?

>For 15+ years now you could have still been using the same PC with incremental upgrades.
r u tarded?

Question:
I'm replacing about half of my pc. Its a few years old so time for major upgrades, and the upgrade will include a new mobo cpu and ram.
Do I have to reinstall windows? If so, fucking how?

no but your spelling and lack of word order clearly indicates that you're functionally retarded.

No, you don't need a graphics card. You can watch 4k 60FPS with onboard graphics. (Don't expect much gaming though.)

pcpartpicker.com/list/ttDFcc

My first build ever. I'm buying everything from the desk to headphones. Have I done well so far? How can I improve?

I'm p95 stable at 5ghz at 1.29V

Is this good or average?

Forgot to mention, it's a gaming rig. I want to be able to use all three monitors at once.

You need more ram friend

Forgot to include that, thanks.

new phone, hows this?

USB going from a blower 1080 gigabyte to a strix 1080 tripple fan worth the extra $80?

Is going*

is gaying*

This is a question you can google yourself to.

And we also need to know your OS details (Windows version, OEM or not etc).

Ditch the Windows license and buy a key off from kinguin/ebay, upgrade the hdd to 2 or 4 TB.

my ram is apparently compatible(g.skill F4-3200C16D-16GTZKW) yet only gets 2133mhz

tried both XMP profiles included but only got my PC to automatically reset and scared the shit out of me

also I reinstalled windows and did update my bios and nothing more

A fast internet connection

You need more money to spend on monitors
Slow RAM/10

MSI seems to have meh compatibility

Also a 580 isn't enough for 5760 x 1080

I'm aware, but there's so many different oppinions. It seems like it's the safe bet to reinstall, but I've never done that before and I bought windows (10) online so I don't even have a disc. I know you can download the iso.
Once I reinstalled windows when everything was bugging out, and I just used the tool in the recovery options, so I really didn't have to do anything. Idk how to manually reset a storage drive and I have two, a hdd and ssd, and there's a million different web pages from a million different years saying a million different things

I don't feel like buying a new monitor. How long will a 580 last me at 1080p do you think?

Probably until they quit making games for the PS4 Pro

I never thought about looking at console generations as a guide of sorts for things like that, but it makes a ton of sense, thanks.

pcpartpicker.com/list/J8fjf8
doing a system upgrade
need:
>lots of threads
>lots of RAM
>m.2 boot drive
don't need:
>cancer LED's
>overclocking
trying to keep it under $1000

>liquid cooling
>ryzen
waste of money just get a good noctua cooler

whats a good gtx 1070?

Somone clue me in on Mobos, what features do you actually consider important for a budget video editing rig?

Are there brands you'd stay away from, ones you prefer?

Haven't decided on Intel/AMD yet.

the vega 56 one
