ITT: Comfy ports

ITT: Comfy ports

...

only patrician keyboards have this

>requires external power supply for 3.5/5.25 drives and special cable.

to the trash

rollin... rollin...rollin...rollin... can't plug

>Not SAS
>Not always being afraid you're putting it in wrong about to break it

Lightning would be the comfiest of all but the exposed contacts scrape away slowly. 30-pin was super comfy before this but it’s not AESTHETIC at all.

Usb 3.0 maybe?

>Lightning would be the comfiest
Proprietary shit is instantly disqualified as comfy. GTFO

This
This shit was worse than USB superposition

tirps don't lie

OP BTFO

USB-C master race.

> comfy ports

What does this even mean? You like the ‘comfy’ meme, and you want to talk about ports?

Should I make a tread about ‘ludo’ ports? What about sweets ports?

you have to love the tactile feeling when plugging this in

And then 5 plug/uplugs later the clip breaks.

I have a sata port/usb on my t420, does that mean I can just plug a sata HDD into the side?

Yeah, the clip completely ruins this connector for me.
>Severe anxiety when pulling back on an unplugged cable.

its not even a contest

almost. first, it's different from a normal sata connector on the computer end, so you'll need an esata cable for that, and then you need something to power the drive with. literally not worth it imo, but is handy if you have a wonky drive that your usb-sata dongle doesn't like

Nice reddit spacing

Thanks

Yeah, extra white space for clearity is invented by le reddit XD Not him, but have you ever written an email, faggot? Or a letter even?

>implying rolling it wasn't fun

...

...

Soooo satisfying.

>Legacy

LTS

Powers my DVD drive just fine

...

always wondered where the anus was located; thanks for clearing that up

it wears out fast and is not backward compatible after first time

not recommended

car lighter sockets are the worst, imo

powerpole or gtfo

[imagine a pic of a vagina because apparently the anatomy diagram I posted was 2lewd4u]

mods are faggots btw

>keyboards
>his serial port isn't DIN
>his instruments and MIDI module aren't DIN
>he probably has an AT keyboard instead of an XT one (aka Model Meme instead of the patrician Model F)

OwO

My workstation is this!

this is literally the worst meme in existenxe only newfags complain about 'reddit spacing' to look like they arent new, neck yourself nigger

Still use it all the time. Most rackmount networking hardware have one or an RJ45 port used as one.

Comfy
Not comfy
extremly comfy when it plugs at first try
comfy
not comfy
comfy
not comfy at all
comfy
comfy/10
comfy
what?

>
>Not comfy
>
>what?
Found the underage.

>Serial port
>Comfy
That's just bad taste user.

step aside

Fuck off

int se 0/0/0
no sh

how is that comfy in any way?

Damn shame that no one uses V.35 anymore

Kill it with fire! Soviets adopted this to every home audio-video products, even headphones. Also, cables was not compatible with each other.

...

I still use keyboard with at/xt switch :∆)

You will never bludgeon someone with your cable again

We can be all comfy connector friends, user.

It always sounds like something is cracking. This fucking port man.

>That's just bad taste user.
Nope. That's just you being a hipster twat.
Serial ports are extremely comfy and work great. It's just you having heard the usual Windows user meme of "serial ports never work!!!111one".

USB 3.1
DisplayPort
Power

All over one port. It's specially awesome as a docking port. Plug in one cable and you are charging, displaying on an external display and have your USB keyboard/mouse connected.

usb type c
all other ports deprecated

>FOXCONN
I came

It supplies 5V.
Almost every hard drive and optical drive (3.5" and 5.25") made in the last few years only uses 5V. Even when they have pins for 12V.
Not to mention, laptop drives that always did so and modern SSDs.

I can still smell it

>take over new client
>their backup hasnt been running because their tape drive is fubar (loltape)
>no spare SAS ports
>have to fit SAS PCIE card and then SAS tape drive to a server that hasnt backed up in months
sweating_jamesmcavoy.gif

Mini SAS HD

Com'on even the smarter Windows users handled serial ports fine
It's only the younger generation that's baffled by anything more complicated than plugging in a cable
>what do you mean I have to select the bound rate? can't I just plug it in?

I don't know why we didn't just get a scaled down version of this for phones instead of the abomination that is micro-usb

Confused the hell out of me that the wide end of this is considered the right way up yet the narrow end of micro-usb is the right way up

This was so much more satisfying to use than microUSB

Crap port, the worst degradation over time.

True masterrace

after having a laptop for 4 years i discovered you could plug usb into it

...

The one port that supports everything, HDMI 2.2 and 10GBE.

...

>yanks cable out without pushing release button

There's no release button on display port fampai

meant for

Too bad it lasts 6 months max

Until the clip breaks

...

IEC is so much better.

Fig 8 cables never seem to plug in all the way because of the way they are shaped. It just looks wrong.

My DP cables have a release button, and they came from OEMs like Philips

Learn to post or GB2R

How could i have overlooked this? Faggots need their thin laptop profiles, but this is the easiest and most convenient one of all.

>this is the easiest and most convenient one of all.

except nobody made them to standard, and half of them are so poor quality they pop out of the socket when moved at an angle

RIP one of the best small features Apple ever came up with

What the fuck are you babbling about?

>RIP one of the best small features Apple copied from kitchen appliances and deep fryers, then patented so nobody else could use them
ftfy
It was definitely a good thing, but Apple didn't come up with it.

this right here is the shit senpai

thost most uncomfy port

wait they filter f.am to senpai now?

>now

...

The fuck are you talking about? Is this about how good/hard it is to use a port now? Learn what the word 'comfy' means faggot.

fuck up cunt, 12v and 5v right here.

Usb c good

>trying to plug this bitch in back of the TV
literally worst connector

pci is best connector, it is also cheap and great for all kinds of electronics

Yo dawg I herd you like bent pins, so I bent another one to give you extra aggravation.

While that cable does support both 5V and 12V rails it's up to the eSATA port design to support both voltages. I have two of those cables attached to my Latitude E6420 at this moment: one on the laptop eSATA port and the other on the dock eSATA and neither of them supports 12V.

Powered eSATA is what you're referring to and it's very rare in actual use even though the spec does exist. I had hoped when I bought those two cables they'd allow me to use full size 3.5" hard drives direct on the eSATA ports but they don't because neither the port on my laptop nor the one on the dock are Powered eSATA.

Extremely disappointed in not having seen a laplink cable yet...

Why don't they just stick PCI on a long wire and use that instead of ethernet

Because PCI is a board to board connector

yes, you are correct its up to the user to source the proper port.
eSATAp goes by too many names for its own good, about a half dozen different names for the same interface the last time I checked.
I purposely tracked down an eSATAp card for my desktop and have a 5.25" disk drive plugged into it right now.
