What would you do if the internet stopped working for a month?

What would you do if the internet stopped working for a month?

How do you think the people around you would react?

>What would you do if the internet stopped working for a month?
Oh shit. Well, then it's man pages and documenations, I guess.
>How do you think the people around you would react?
Mildly panic in everyday life. Full blown drama for companies. At least we'd finally get to use those old fax machines again.

>What would you do if the internet stopped working for a month?
I'd carry on as normal for the most part, and I'd probably get more stuff done in my personal life. I don't really use social media so I wouldn't be in Facebook withdrawals or anything. As for entertainment I'd still have my external hard drives that have plenty of movies/TV shows that I've yet to watch and I have enough porn saved to last multiple lifetimes. Also I've got a shit ton of music and lots of podcasts backlogged.

>How do you think the people around you would react?
Most people would be less stressed out and become a bit more sane. A lot of celebs and news people would go on immediate suicide watch since they wouldn't be able to cry about Trump from the toilet so maybe the media would chill out a tiny bit. I think that social media for the most part does more harm than good (mostly due to how people use it rather than it being inherently bad).

Overall I'd miss it but I wouldn't be despondent. Honestly it would probably be a nice little break. Sure I could easily do it this second voluntarily but sometimes not having the option of doing something is better.

>if the internet stopped working
mass starvations
anarchy leading to orwellian clamp downs
millions of bored angry people = war
>what would you do
hide. as far away from humans as possible.

>Mildly panic in everyday life
It's gonna suck a bit more than you might think. Stores will be out of food in 1-2 days. Then shit's gonna be nasty.

Sell USB storage devices with porn in exchange for items and become the richest man on Earth

>Stores will be out of food in 1-2 days.
I don't know, companies other than those involved in tech (including logistics and stores) still do a lot via phone here. I can't talk for the rest of the world, but considering how many old people sit behind the desks here, I don't think it would take long to get back into old practices. Obviously everything banking related would be fucked for a while, it would suck, it would be a big setback, but adapting to change is the only thing we humans can do well, so I don't buy into apocalyptic scenarios.

I don't think suppliers will deliver to stores without getting payed.

No one stores porn locally anymore

>I don't do something
>therefore no one does

>send army or police in to those suppliers who refuse
>distribute food
y'know most 1st world countries could probably pull such an emergency off

of course, it would suck, there'd probably be a bunch of huge problems anyway. I don't think they'd be primarily related to food supply, though.

>What would you do if the internet stopped working for a month?

Read some books, garden, repairs around the house, some extra sleep, car could use a good cleaning and thorough detailing, several games I like that don't require internet so I can play them so long as my computer boots properly.

>How do you think the people around you would react?

Freak out, set their hair on fire, panic, scream, run around in circles screaming, weep, curl up under a blanket and suck their thumb. Some would go on a shooting rampage because Obama did it with his sekrit shadow gub'merments.

Poorfag here, once they cut my energy for 33 days.
so my internet did stop working for a month.

Being a poorfag + family member needing medical care in a hospital is a terrible combination.

Other than Sup Forums I haven't visited a porn site in years.

If the internet turned off for one day a lot more people would horde porn. Sales of 12 TB hard drives would skyrocket.

I think you missed the entire point of that post though: the few of us who do horde media would have commodity leverage. I could trade music, movies, anime & porn for all sorts of things. Also, several TB of games that don't require online access for installation or play.

>What would you do if the internet stopped working for a month?
sports, hiking, meditating, play some of the vidya i have (and by vidya i mean mount and blade because that's the only game i have right now)

>How do you think the people around you would react?
normalfags and roasties cryin' on how they can't update their shitty facebook every 0.1 seconds

It would be pretty easy. Just a bit boring at first

>adapting to change

The beauty of the OSI model is that you can exchange the physical medium. I.e. if the "traditional" way of data transmission for the internet data would be of no use anymore then you can still use telephone lines, cable TV lines, etc - at least in the long run

> What would you do if the internet stopped working for a month?
I'd take a vacation and probably would try to immigrate.

Play videogames instead.

>How do you think the people around you would react?
they would actually do some work and make picrelated real in a month

> videogames
BTW, you won't be able to download them, unless people group together and make a DC++ hub and a big LAN.
Multiplayer is a no-go too, in our age of p2p servers controlled by a publisher.

i would be a dad to several children

I would focus on my drawing more, and get around to building some Arduino stuff I've been planning for a while.

Most people in my environment wouldn't miss it.

I'd finally be free!

I already have tons of vidya downloaded and lots of old PS1 discs. Don't care about multiplayer, but LAN parties are still possible. I don't play much of modern locked down DRM shitty games.

>What would you do if the internet stopped working for a month?
Not much. Maybe try and finally watch all of MASH. I've owned it on DVD for years and haven't watched the entire thing.
>How do you think the people around you would react?
Mass sperging for a couple weeks, then everything would probably be fine. The stores here rely on local networks instead of the internet, so they'd function fine without it.

Is there even a way to kill the entirety of the internet in a short enough time for something like that?

/thread

Everyone else probably doesn't realize the amount of stuff that depends on the internet.

Paying my bills would be somewhat problematic, but missing one month per year only nets an angry letter.

I would be very upset because there are a lot of people I speak to every day that I have no other way of contacting. No phone numbers, no personal info, etc.
I would hope that everything would be the same so that I could speak to these people again once the internet was back up.
For entertainment purposes, I have a lot of pirated shit and a load of xbox 360 games that I got for free and have never played. Guess I'd be alright. Also I have lots of books, most have already been read, but I could read them again.

i would be unemployed

Me too.

...

finally get through my massive backlog of anime

>What would you do if the internet stopped working for a month?
Actually get to my Steam and anime backlog. Tons of single-player games waiting to be played, days of episodes waiting to be watched.
>How do you think the people around you would react?
Assuming POTS still works (why shouldn't it) call up their friends and loved ones and talk on the phone all day. Maybe go outside and enjoy nature, take their family out on that dream vacation they always wanted but never had time to pull off. Corporatefags BTFO.

I want a black lolita gf NOW. Heck, if the internet went down for a month, I might just acquire one.

Well I guess just play games and hope that the power grid doesn't turn off

I wish. A few months would be good.

Read a bunch and play a bunch of video games.

I hope it does, blackouts are fun and my sit ups can keep my phone charged for weeks

It would be a dream come true. Im too weak to force myself of it otherwise.

I'd probably get a lot of work done.

The rest of the world would probably kill itself.

How woulf you get money from your bank

By going to the bank like everyone else

My closest bank is pretty far away, I'd need to get there by train, dutch trains don't work without internet unless they switch back to analog tickets bought with cash, I don't have cash

Your system depends too heavily upon the internet for its own good

>Fax

My dad still uses fax, hell the entire nation of Japan still uses fax.

do a lot of reading. start watching tv again.

If I was a cyber-terrorist I know what country I'd attack now.

Nvm all banks would probably stop working anyways if internet fails troughout the netherlands, we would be truly fucked maybe there is something to doomsday prepping after all.

...

Oh and most of the dikes and water management is also done over the internet so we'd be death pretty quickly

Who is this nubian gooey bin?

>shiny as fuck buildings all over the goddamn place
>make EVERYTHING a mirror
You can always tell when some artist rendition of a futuristic utopia was conceived of by an artist. That place would be a goddamn nightmare to live in as every little light would be reflected all the way around town, making everyone blind including the pilots of passing planes.

...

>What would you do if the internet stopped working for a month?

I'd read books, visit the library, spend more time with my family, tend the garden, finally build that pizza oven and maybe learn how to weld properly. You would have people phone the landline more often, at first complaining and then one morning you'll wake up and it'll be 1977 again. Everything will still work, just more slowly.

>When the fucking add is more interesting than their entire lineup.

I-I want this kind of life. Internet sucks for the most part. Fuck you, Zuck and Gates.

Lost it at face swaps

Stop making me want to be a luddite,

Just came here to say that she's hot af.

If the internet went out, chaos would ensue but free market systems are surprisingly resilient and recover very quickly to even major shocks.

>What would you do if the internet stopped working for a month?

Starts beign a productive person.

AYO HOL UP
WHERES MUH MARIO

>macfags will kill themselves

good, it's a win win situation for everyone. Meanwhile Linux users will use toasters, ATMs and radios to make a mesh networking to share porn globally.

be reading books .. programming with whatever crap is left on the system. ..

>if the internet stopped working for a month?
Considering the fact that the internet is built on routing protocols that are designed to stay transmitting, I'd have to say the only situation would be total nuclear annihilation.

Go to work, watch movies and play video games offline. Watch TV.

I think we'd be in deep shit

virtually all financial transactions are performed over the internet. all banking. the stockmarket.
a good portion of telco is over the internet too.
I don't know what people would do at that stage. would they show up for work? obviously tech workers won't. but what about truck drivers or people working at food processing, farming, or power plants? would they accept to work without money going into their bank account? would the grocery store workers work without money or stock the food? would the gas station guy let you pump without paying?

Holy fuck I'm not racist anymore.

I recently went through Bootcamp and MCT, so that was 4 months without technology completely. It's honestly not as bad as you'd imagine.

I'd be reading a lot more books than I do now.

...

grab sks go innawoods

Probably be a happier man after a month.

same

Racist?

i might actually get some work done

all it took was for someone to dress-up their pet gorilla?

I have legit like 2TB of video games, movies, porn, anime and books all stored on an external HDD so I'd probably be good.

Are you implying you would not smash? What are you, gay?

i'm not a zoophile

To be fair not all of them look like this. But then again do you really want to be sticking your willy into a frail pasty girl who has trouble lifting a water bottle?

Of course he's gay. There's no other logical explanation.

Maybe OP should have posted a nigger with his dick out to appease him..

>What would you do if the internet stopped working for a month?
No difference because I don't have any social media nor do I use the internet that much. Fap to my downloaded doujins for a month.
>How do you think the people around you would react?
Normalfaggots would fucking DIE ifbthey don't get their daily dose of instagram/jewbook/Twitter/tumblr/youtube. It's fucking insane, their entire personalities revolve around these websites. It'd be a pain at work too, since emails wont work

am NEET shut-in
would probably just read all the ebooks and shit i've downloaded over the years and not bothered with

Anyone who says they'll be more productive are liars

I would kill myself

Rewatch the anime I hoarded
Play some games
Practice programming

If anything fails I might start being productive.
