It's been +20 years and there's still no proper replacement for CRTs
>perfect blacks
>crystal clear motion
>look good on more than one(1) resolution
>reaches 120Hz without having to pay extra
What's holding back the display industry so much?

You forgot.
>Low res
>Shit response time
so there is no perfect black, crystal clear motion or 120Hz monitos in the market?
Jesus, i have been living a lie
You would need to find an OLED 120Hz panel with strobing
Good luck
I'm not sure but I wish I still had a Trinitron somewhere
Still waiting for SED technology.
>crts have perfect blacks
>comparing the best computer CRT of all time to a shitty early-2000s TN panel
See guys? LCDs are shit!
on top of that the lcd is also angled toward the light source while the crt is angled away from it.
Is this bait?
I have a syncmaster 1200nf CRT

Native Resolution
2048 x 1536 at 75 Hz
a shitty/mediocre crt would easily beat out a shitty/mediocre lcd
I had a 17" Sony Trinitron.
Really nice monitor and got a lot of Civ3 play on it. Horizontal scan lines were kind of annoying. I replaced it with a nice 1200p monitor, so I never experienced this.
only the sony crts with flat tubes were good. i hated the rounding that most crts had and those with analog adjusting wheels had to be readjusted constantly or the picture would be of center or look like something is pushing the image from sides(there are probably words for these things but lcds dont need them so i dont remember them)
QLED has perfect blacks
They do since they're not back lit. Just don't fire any cathode rays at that particular pixel.
when did the patent expire
the shadow mask/aperture grill is grey, moron. do you think when you turn the crt on it magically acquires the ability to make blacks darker than the screen itself or something? most lcds produced within the last decade have better blacks than crts.
Africa has perfect blacks
This.
>What's holding back the display industry so much?
Slow development on microLED. A microLED display has perfect blacks, zero latency, no screen burn, and with high enough pixel density you can perfectly emulate CRT scanlines and phosphors for retro games.
Are you serious?
My CRT does 2048x1536 at 75hz, only reason I don't use it anymore is that it's VGA only.
The display was superior to anything else on the market right now within a reasonable price range.
>only reason I don't use it anymore is that it's VGA only
I'm still using my GTX 980 for that very reason. At 1600x1200 85Hz it's probably underutilized and would likely run games maxed-out for several more years.
I consider CRTfags on the same level as vinylfags.
>dude the difference is totally there man you just gotta look for the color significance and the overlay disturbance, not to mention the brightness inflation
but you can clearly hear a difference between CD and Vinyl with the proper setup.
Play a game at 640x480 on a fixed-resolution LCD display and then on a CRT display. The difference is as clear as night and day, just as how you hear pops and crackles on vinyl that you don't hear on CDs.
>HP Dreamcolour Monitor
Very Nice. I have one myself. The Black levels on this monitor are insane. Not to mention the range of the colour gambit.
The main reason people buy vinyl is because it's less compressed though, look up the loudness wars. Shitty music producers ruin CD's a lot of times, which is why people went back to vinyl. Of course FLAC solves this issue,
You're lucky, I went from a GTX 670 to an to fury, regretted it the instant I found out the DVI port wasn't DVI-I.
It wasn't even an optional upgrade, my 670 was dying so I was forced to look for a new monitor.
what do you mean? I have a 4k@120hz 39" kit coming in. it also does 240hz@1080p and 480hz@SD. ontop of that it does strobing at all resolutions and framerates.
>that old ass picture from [H]
I wonder if he's even still using that monitor
I did my research going from an HD 7950 to the GTX 980. DVI-I was a specific requirement.
If blacks are perfect, what about us whites?
It's a dumb comparison, but that's a Dell 2001FP, which was actually a fairly high end IPS display in its day.
Even modern IPS panels have shit black levels. VA does better, but it's hard to find VA computer monitors, and VA has its own drawbacks.
Plasma is the best technology, but
>muh thin
>muh energey
fags killed it.
With normalfags you lose.
