If you want help:
>State the budget & CURRENCY for your build
>List your uses, e.g. Gaming, Video Editing, VM Work
>For monitors, include purpose (e.g., photoediting, gaming) and graphics card pairing (if applicable)

CPUs:
>NO i5 7500/7600K or i7 7700/K. THEY ARE DEFUNCT AND SUPERSEDED BY COFFEE LAKE
>G4560/G4600 for non-gaming (light tasks) or bare minimum gaming builds with a dedicated graphics card
>R3 1200 - Budget builds (best with OC + fast RAM)
>R5 1600 / i5 8400 - Great gaming or multithreaded use CPUs
>R7 / Used Xeon / Threadripper / i7 - Heavy Multi-Tasking / VM Work / Mixed use

RAM:
>Current CPUs benefit from high speed RAM; 3000-3200 MHz is ideal
>Before buying RAM for Ryzen, check your Mobo's QVL or look for user reports

Graphics cards:
>Consider Vega 56 for a Freesync monitor
>Crypto-Currency miners have driven GPU prices up (particularly Radeon)
1080p
>GTX 1050Ti and 3GB 1060 are the only reasonably priced cards; 6GB 1060 or 4GB 580 if you want to overpay a little
>GTX 1070 if you're looking for very high (100+) framerates and you have a CPU and monitor to match
1440p
>GTX 1070/Ti and 1080 are standard choices; currently overpriced
>GTX 1080Ti if you're looking for very high (100+) framerates and you have a CPU and monitor to match
2160p (4K)
>GTX 1080Ti

General:
>PLAN YOUR BUILD AROUND YOUR MONITOR IF GAMING
>A 240GB or larger SSD is almost mandatory; consider m.2 form factor

best gaming monitor for > $200?

Is it okay if my Ryzen core voltage of a 1700 at 3.9GHz is 3.12v while in stress test?
I let it overnight for 8 hours or so in the test and it kept good, or should I try more?
And will the OC affect the CPUs lifespan by any chance if I just leave it like that?

multitasking but high single core needs and no games newer than 2016 @1080p/60fps so new GPUs don't seem worth it to me yet

I feel like I should be able to find a 1440p monitor with a refresh rate higher than 60hz for $250 but I'm having trouble
Everything is so damn expensive but damn this will be sweet once I put it together. Tired of waiting for something to go on sale

The 1700 isn't even competition

I just realized the 8700k is basically Intel's answer to the 2000 series and they're following up with a bonus generation

Hence all the stock shortages, its basically a low stock product like the 5820k and like the 5820k being shat on by Skylake this one will be shat on by another Coffee Lake

do i need to use my disk for my graphics card cant I just use a VGA cable?

do you have an AMD or Nvidia GPU

How do I pick out a case that Sup Forums won't make fun of me for owning?

Yes

I'm about to buy this
pcpartpicker.com/list/qxwd3F

Only thing I'm not sure about is the case. As long as it says micro ATX it'll fit everything, and that's what really matters right?

Pick an understated design, not something that looks like the bat-mobile in case form.

Probably whatever 1080p/144Hz TN panel you can afford.

>500gb ssd
just get a 250 gb ssd and 1 th hdd
cable management for that case is trash, get a better mini atx case, or just get an atx case.

pcpartpicker.com/list/CLtzzM

this PC is specifically for storage needs, network backups for everyone in the house and all their devices, and a dedicated encoding/compiling machine.

I'm torn between the drives. For the same price I can get 12TB Seagate Ironwolf drives.

You can usually get 1440p/144Hz/IPS for $500, $400 on sale and TN for a bit cheaper. If you need something lower wait until next year when 4k/120Hz monitors come out, 1440p monitors will hopefully drop in price.

Coffee Lake was just pulled forward to slow Ryzen sales, Intel doesn't even care about Coffee Lake sales hence the low stock. It's probably the most cynical CPU launch in history, Intel was willing to throw Kaby Lake under the bus, anything to keep people from buying AMD.

>State the budget & CURRENCY for your build
I'm already way over budget for this. Wanted to keep it at 1k-1.2k$ but I might need the GPU for my uses.
>List your uses, e.g. Gaming, Video Editing, VM Work
Unreal Engine, 3d Software (blender), DAW (not sure if i need a dedicated soundcard or higher HZ)
>For monitors, include purpose (e.g., photoediting, gaming) and graphics card pairing
Unreal engine, Don't give a shit about 144hz or 1440p

Also, I don't know what I'm doing. Tried to stick with the Sup Forums preset build components

Really wanted to get Ryzen but I don't think it is comparable in performance for my specific uses.
Apparently, Intel 7700k is better than Ryzen for Unreal. So I assume Intel i5 8400k should be better for Ryzen, except I can't OC the 8400k though but I don't think that is an issue. The Ryzen might have better performance for DAW/Blender but I haven't looked at benchmarks for that.

pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Unreal-Engine-4-16-CPU-Comparison-Skylake-X-Kaby-Lake-X-Broadwell-E-Skylake-Ryzen-7-984/

Not sure about GPUs and whether a 6GB 1060 is worth the 100$ over the 3GB for my purposes.

a mini ATX mobo will fit in an ATX case?

Board: Gigabyte B250M-DS3H
CPU: i5 7400
RAM: PSD48G240081

Is the memory compatible?

Any good deals on the meshify c? Decided to get rid of my porn so I don't need so many 3.5" bays

>Decided to get rid of my porn
Good choice.

Unless you already have the i5 7400, don't buy it

Friendly reminder that 60Hz is a meme.

>Good choice.
Yea, it's all hentai for me now. Easier to always access without ads and even if I do save some it's compact

I'm looking for an RX 560, which one should I get?
bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1343527-REG
newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814137124

>delid cpu
worst meme

I think you missed the "tech humor" thread.

thing is, it didn't slow ryzen sales at all, they grew, but no stock killed kaby and they can't make enough coffee to sell people.

So I took a look at pugetsystems.com/recommended/Recommended-Systems-for-Unreal-Engine-200/Hardware-Recommendations
and saw that they reccommend 32GB of ram and i7-7820k for Unreal, Daw, and 3d Rendering. This would bring the cost to over 2k USD. However, they also recommend 4k monitors unironically because 4k is too gud for productivity clicks or something. Do I need that much ram or is it just a meme?

First time builder. Can someone explain some things to me like i'm retarded?

Do things like wifi and usb ports come as part of the case/basic components or do i need to add them in on top of that?

On steam fallout 4 (for example) says 'Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 550... or equivalent', how do i find out what's equivalent?

What's the difference between AMD and Nvidia?

Don't get a soundcard. Get an external DAC & Amp. The same quality, and can be used with other devices like a laptop, phone, etc.

Jesus Christ

What's the bare minimum ryzen cpu to mate with a 1070?

USB ports are built into the PC case and located on the motherboard I/O panel and PCI-E expansion cards. Only small form factor and top-tier motherboards have built-in wifi adapters. You can find gpu performance charts pretty much anywhere and price/performance comparisons.

As a rule of thumb, never buy any gpu more than 2 gens old for retail. The used market is always an option, but you can easily be ripped off if you don't know the value already. Try to get AIB partner cards rather than reference for better noise/cooling.

>Have to put the 1700X against the 8700K for the price to stand a chance because of the Intel premium for unlocked
This ain't no battle. Drop the 1700 there instead and it's done.

Probably all of them will do fine since they're all at least quad cores. The only bottleneck will be above 100 fps due to the max frequency.

USB ports come as part of the motherboard and the case. Some motherboards come with wifi, you can also just buy and adapter.
>On steam fallout 4 (for example) says 'Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 550... or equivalent', how do i find out what's equivalent?
You can look up benchmarks, generally the higher the number and or price the better it will be.

where do i buy those animu stickers i see the mentally disabled putting on their thinkpads

I see. That's great since i'm planning to run a dual 1080p 60hz setup with a single 1070.

any last words before I pull the trigger adn buy this shit Sup Forums?

pcpartpicker.com/list/B4qCf8

Drop the gayming headset, grab a decent pair of /hpg/ recommended cans and you're good.

everyone's got to start somewhere, sue me
thanks a lot, none of the guides i've read/watched really covered that and i'm really starting from zero knowledge here.

Asus over MSI imo, make sure it's the a proper 560 with 1024 Stream Processors and not the rebranded ones with like 800.

>3 antennas
>450 + potentially whatever 2.4GHz gives
lmao what

I don't understand. What's the problem? What should I look for in a wireless card? This one seemed fine from the reviews

I don't think the 6 GB version has a great value, especially at 1080p where you shouldn't be starved for VRAM. The VRM looks fine, but if you're pushing the CPU OC then put a fan over it, that heatsink looks like garbage.

Have you made sure you like the keyswitches that thing ships with?

Don't get the GN246HL, I have it and while it's served me well, there are better panels out there now for the same price. It's a 6bit-FRC-to-8bit TN panel. Look at a VA panel or at least something that's a true 8 bit like:
newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009769

I think at this point, if you're buying a new GPU you should pony up for 1440p. You're already planning on getting a nearly $300 card, so just go with the 1070.
This guide might help: logicalincrements.com/monitors

Don't worry about it, he's just laughing at the number fudging wifi routers and adapters always have.

Hentai is porn too. Quit living in denial.

Also there's no 5GHz AC on that, it seems. The Amazon listing also doesn't indicate that it supports MIMO if you really want to rock multiple antennas for more than just signal strength but instead overall throughput.

>Do things like wifi and usb ports come as part of the case/basic components or do i need to add them in on top of that?

Have you never connected anything to a desktop computer? I mean, a mouse or something?

so is it bad for the price or not? I just want a fast wifi connection

Asus is 2gb compared to 4 for MSI, is that not a big factor?

If you're spending that much on gpu, there's little reason to not get r5 1600. 6 cores 12 threads and it'll only improve in relative performance as games/programs start utilizing more threads. Chances are if you try to save a few $ here, you'll be upgrading that 4 core in 2 years.

Not really because that GPU isn't powerful enough to sustain FPS for higher textures anyway

The 1050 is a better bang for your buck imo, unless you need memesync or really hate Nvidia, I'd probably go for that

in budget cards it doesnt matter as much because you're essentially bottlenecked by the card to the point where you'll be running on medium or high so the extra memory is not exactly useless but probably unneeded

its like the difference between gaming on 8gb vs 16gb

of course all things equal, you'd want a 4gb over a 2gb card but i wouldn't pay a premium for it, at a certain point something like a 1050ti starts to make more sense

This.

See youtu.be/lSURL-eC-SY?t=3m20s

Is this good basic build if the computer's only going to be used for productivity?

pcpartpicker.com/list/TNp7kT

Is it worth looking at a 1070 ti for $470 compared to a 1080, starting around $530 ish?

pcpartpicker.com/list/jnGpqk

Did I fuck up?

Looks fine to me.

other than the cpu, practically the same rig I have gaymen headset + monitor. you wont be disappointed

>R3 1200 - Budget builds (best with OC + fast RAM)
>R5 1600 / i5 8400 - Great gaming or multithreaded use CPUs

so are we just completely dropping everything between the 1200 and 1600? there are some okay use cases for the middleground chips.

>find nice 1440p/144hz ahva screen
>check brightness
>only 250cd/㎡

Fucking hell, is there really nothing as half as good as a regular ipad screen in terms of brightness? Looking for the above at 350cd/㎡ or higher in brightness,

Coffee Lake i3s aren't worth it when considering mobo costs vs the R5 1600. R5 build will be cheaper and have better perf both in gaming and in multithreaded tasks
That basically leaves us with the R5 1400 as a middle ground CPU. It's only significantly better than the R3 1200 in a few games (although I'm sure this will change later), but it's just not really worth it right now in my righteous opinion. Better to get the R3 now and upgrade to a Zen 2 R5 if an R5 1600 is out of your price range.
If you're doing any serious rendering etc the R5 1400 is a pretty bad deal compared to the R5 1600.

is be quiet loop the only 280mm AIO with a refill port?

>Coffee Lake i3s aren't worth it when considering mobo costs
consider the value of an igpu for casul gaymanning in the current gpu market
consider the lack of fucks needed to be given about checking RAM qvl lists when buying intel

>tfw you can build a solid gaming pc for less than what a single GTX1080 costs
>tfw a super budget gaming pc can be built for the price of a GTX 1070

Despite of the ram pricing and mining fuckery, I think 2017 is a good time for pc building.

Eh, R3 1200 with stock cooler would have saved you $20 that could have been rolled into a 1050Ti

If buy productivity, you mean word processing and browsing the net, it's fine

The "full" 560 is looking better as time goes on. Also it can be had with 4GB of RAM as insurance

The iGP is complete crap.. you could do almost as well with something like the G4560, which is a way better buy for light tasks like netflix.

Also the RAM thing is getting a lot better with Ryzen. Most sticks work as long as the BIOS is updated.

R5 1600 at 1080p
R3 1200 at 1440p if you're super cheap, but I'd still get the R5 1600 anyway

Never go buy "recommended" specs. Check benchmarks for that game
Also check out the benchmark's benchmarks, like The Witcher 3 or Assassin's Creed: Origins

>If buy productivity, you mean word processing and browsing the net, it's fine

Basically the most strenuous thing it will be doing is occasionally displaying streamed content to a TV.

are curved monitors a meme?

pcpartpicker.com/list/FXXwTH

How'd I do? Can't too much higher in cost since i need everything delivered to Hawaii. Got the monitor for free, so I just wanna play games good at 1080, not planning to overclock, and not have to open the case for more than vent cleaning and paste replacement. Need the wifi mobo cause I'm too far from the modem and I don't own it.

if your sitting withing 3 feet of it, no.

Curved tv's are a meme though.

What's the success rate on unlocking the extra shaders on an RX 460?

hello friends , i am interested in purchasing an rtx 555 ti kingpin.

>60hz

is there anything i can do to save some money on this? upgrading my current computer isnt an option and every dollar counts.

Perfect. Nailed it.

You could not buy windows.

Looking at a ryzen 1600x, what's more dangerous? Letting XFR spike the voltage up to 1.5 or constantly supplying it with 1.375v.

xfr shouldn't spike that high , maybe 1.4v .

A ryzen system might be better value for the money.

>might

R3 1200 would be my guess

I don't know much about PCs but a friend said this is the best I could get for $500 right now without gambling on ebay.

It will be just mainly for videogames. Am I better off getting a PS4 Pro or XB1 X?

>Unreal Engine, 3d Software (blender), DAW (not sure if i need a dedicated soundcard or higher HZ)

get a 1600 instead its better for your use

Your pc wont pull more than 200w. You can easily get away with a 450w psu.The 1300x comes with a cooler, if you wont be overclocking you can save some more money if you skip the 212. You can use the saved money for a bigger hdd or something.

>wifi for desktop
Have you considered homeplug?

don't buy gaymen headsets

other than that shitty spaceship mouse it looks good

is then

get ryzen instead

Don't buy windows and buy a Ryzen 3 instead.

Rate my PC Build
pcpartpicker.com/list/xxvBNN

Better yes, but still be on medium to high settings at 1080p for most games... So slightly better than console. GPU is the main cause.

nice build friend, you might want to get an ssd at some point it would make it very speedy

>pcpartpicker.com/list/xxvBNN
Samsung - 850 EVO 500GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive lol

o didn't see that

What compels a man to do this?

>This ain't no battle
you're right. 8700k shits on r7 in every way possible.

Is there any point in jumping through the hoops and loops required to install Win7 on Ryzen or should I just pirate Win8/10?

I recently made the switch to 10 and it's fine. There's nothing that annoying i could point to once i fiddled with it a bit.

why are there no new gpus out yet? its been a while i mean gtx 1060 and 1070 have been out for almost 2 years now
