Video Codecs

Which video player + codecs do you use?

mpc-hc.
>codecs
none. i don't see why

>doesnt realize he is using codecs

I know VLC has been memed about forever but is there really a difference? I have noticed VLC does seem a bit faded like in the picture

>video player
mpv
>codecs
whatever ffmpeg ships with

KCP

the edges and outlines on the mpc are much sharper and more defined

Alright fine, I'll try it

That's madvr, though not the player itself
You need to run it with madvr and maybe bump up the settings above default to get a difference like that

>bump up the settings above default to get a difference like that
hm?

MPC-HC + lav filter. I don't need anything else.

YouTube/Netflix
H.264/AAC

There's a huge difference in that whenever I want to use vlc there's a fuckhuge update or fuckhuge text yadda yadda rebuild I have to do anytime I want to do anything even if it's something without subtitles

The only right choice

mpc-hc has most of them built-in. by default it only relies on system-wide codecs for windows media files (asf, wma, wmv) and for anything it doesn't have codecs for.

>4-chan compatible downloading
VP9/opus
VP8/ogg

>Quick encodes for personal use
h264/aac
h265/aac

>Compatibility and awe b how much technology has progressed
mpeg4/mp3

i use mpc with k-lite codec pack and madvr
I probably wouldn't notice the difference from vlc if they weren't side-by-side though, I'm just blindly following Sup Forums and Sup Forums suggestions

memepc + memedvr + ffmemepeg

Same.
