Yes, in a closed system.
The whole point of free energy generators is not being closed systems by themselves.
They're not supposed to create the energy out of nowhere, but pull it from some spooky not yet discovered omnipresent interdimensional energy field.

i remember back when tekkit was released you could generate infinite energy using buckets of lava and the sun but they patched this so there are currently no ways to generate power for free desu

Solar energy. Wind energy. Gravity energy.

None of them require you to invest in anything significant at all and give you "free" energy for life.

Solar energy is as free as it gets. Abundant natural energy, you just need a panel to keep it.

this desu. I knew a guy who was really into this bullshit. He said that they pull energy from quantum background energy or something. He was easy to scam though, was into the crystal healing, "weed kills cancer", area 51 and all kinds of other dank internet alt-memes.

And yeah technically you can get electricity from ambient radio waves, even background radiation, but only a miniscule amount. Scaling it up for anything bigger than a nanomachine would be more expensive and difficult than existing methods.

My personal favorite is solar heated steam pressure, that pumps/cleans water up to the top of a hill into a reservoir, so it can be released into turbines when needed.

There's no such thing as free energy, you can't create energy. Some sources of energy that are essentially "free" are solar, wind, tidal, ocean waves, etc. because you don't really have to input any energy to start or run the system (besides manufacturing the equipment).

Outside of solar and wind, I've seen devices that can utilize radio waves to generate minuscule amounts of energy. About as much as it takes to power a modern digital watch

Also to add to this, there's Piezo (mechanical stress, aka movement) electric. Hydro (turbine or wave). Geothermal (if you're near some sort of volcano).

You can also combine multiple of these together for a more robust energy system. For example Solar + Wind compliment each other (solar during day, wind during night).

The main initial cost is landmass and the initial equipment setup.

There is such thing as energy from source you don't lack of and that's called free.

Solar power just catches the heat of the sun. You still have the sun burning up all of its hydrogen fuel, so it is not a free process... it is just on a scale that we will not perceive in our lifetime.
