Java is faster (JIT), garbage collected, pure OO, and has more libraries.

stop memeing with 90's memes

>faster
Not on average, only in edge cases.

>pure OO
No, it's not pure OO.

Nobody is using C besides embedded systems devs and autists.
The better question is, why would anyone use Java when C# exists?

It's good, but Java is not Pure OO. Java isn't even a little OO.

java is forcing OO where it doesn't belong

C is also used for operating systems.

How is Java "forcing" OO if it's not even remotely OO?

Nothing in the language is in the form of objects that encapsulate behavior, there's static methods everywhere, getters and setters, singletons, etc., etc., etc...

Java is as procedural as a language can be.

In this interview, David West even talks about how Java wasn't even designed to be OO:

youtube.com/watch?v=s-hdZZzMCac

Finally, how does OO not belong in application programming? If anything, that's where it belongs the most. It certainly does not belong in systems programming (West talks about that in the interview as well).

I'm an Indian. I'm tired of all the things people say about us. I mean, which other country is hated the most? North Korea? We're probably next to North Korea. Several people called me "pajeet", "who shits on the streets" "giv bob and vegana" as soon as I told them I'm from India. I'm now afraid of telling that I'm Indian. I feel ashamed. One person said "US should nuke India" on a youtube video about India and it got hundreds of likes or upvotes. Most of the things people say only apply to poor people and uneducated. People like me in the cities probably never saw anyone shitting on streets. I honestly never saw anyone shit on streets. At least from what I know, people don't shit on "streets" but in an open area like farmlands in villages. I keep my identity hidden and don't tell anyone that I'm Indian. I'm afraid they'll treat me differently. I keep trying to avoid those comments but they are affecting me. Not directly but indirectly. For example, read any Reddit threads about, you'll see hate comments about India. Fuck this shit

C is the king. C++ is shit. C# is india. Java is kek

It's not pure OO, first of all. Take a look at Ruby. While still not pure OO, it comes a lot closer. Pure OO means every first-class citizen is an object.

Also, the JIT of the JVM is NOT faster than C. The whole program isn't even compiled; only the "hot spots" are! So less frequently executed code is being interpreted.

Finally, and most importantly, the language itself is a relic. In the 90's, people were so excited about everything being an object. Even a decade later, people were realizing what a mistake this was. Rampant were doer classes wrapping what should be a single method, singletons, and unnecessary degrees of abstraction detracting from the primary goal of the piece of software. It isn't the semantics of the language (I maintain the Java's classes don't really offer anything semantically on top of modern procedural languages) but the way in which people are encouraged to program. We teach Java to undergrads and then they move on to the industry and write messy, spaghetti code that senior devs like me have to fix.

>We teach Java to undergrads and then they move on to the industry and write messy, spaghetti code that senior devs like me have to fix.
let's teach them something else so we can call that language shit because of the mistakes most student programmers do. this would fix most of Java's common "problems"

>So less frequently executed code is being interpreted.
wrong

>Java is faster (JIT)
lmao. C's easily faster unless you spam void* and function pointers.

Is this clever satire?

No it does not you retard.

>Java is faster
wew lad

It's sort of true. JVM's JIT compiler is way better than C#'s but C# has better control over memory because it has actual value types and other things.

> Java
> garbage
> pure

It's just a shitty pasta

I could have sworn OP was trying to compare C, not C#

Yes you are right. I thought you replied to a guy saying C# was faster.

Running a mono emulator doesnt count as running on linux. You csn run anything woth emulators on linux

tfw everything in the future will be written OO pseudocode
mankind will fail

This

Mono is not an emulator you moron, it's just another .NET implementation.
Hell .NET Core works on Linux and is officially supported by Microsoft.

>mfw Sup Forums is literally retarded

If java were garbage collected, it would have collected itself.

Lying wincuck shill c# is trash like your mom

C++ is better, notice the ++, that means it's an upgrade.

C# is godlike because of COROUTINES (async methods) which act like logic wormholes. Your execution path can go from anywhere to anywhere. Threading and 3-D algorithms you can't draw on paper are now officially easy. There are C# programmers doing stunts that Java programmers don't even think exist in all of computer science. Keep your shitty libraries, C# makes it easy to write better ones from scratch in half the time.

Oh is there a Java compiler written in Java? If so, can it do what the Roslyn C# compiler can? lolz

Microsoft is funny like that. They get shit and have low energy marketers holding them back but they're the only ones who design correctly from the ground up.

I made that joke.

What the fuck does that even mean you illiterate fuckstick? Mono is a runtime the same way the JRE is a runtime.

The absolute current state of C

wtf? how?

C++*
Don't associate c++fags with cfags

>>garbage collected
>you say that like it's a good thing
You say that like it's not.

There's only one reason you should avoid using a Garbage Collector: if you're dealing with an embedded system that has less than 4KB of available memory.

There's no reason to fear progress. Memory is far more expendable than processor cycles.

The main problem with garbage collectors is not the memory usage, its the CPU usage.
When it hits, it hits like a truck and turns the computer into an unusable mess for seconds.

Anything realtime should stay the fuck away from it.

The big problem with manual memory management is that when you do it, Bigfoot comes to eat your dog and you have to spend 30 minutes throwing snowballs at him to go away.

So are we going to stop telling outrages lies now?

>Java is faster (JIT)
There are only a limited number of scenarios where JIT is actually faster. Moreover, programming Java as it was intended will result in a lot of cache misses, ruining any performance enhancements from JIT.

>garbage collected
AKA non-deterministic performance

>pure OO
No, Ruby is pure OO. Java has primitives.

>more libraries
Most of which are garbage.

I'm guessing you barely know what OO even is aside from "encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism" bullshit. Note, putting something inside a class has NOTHING to do with OO.

>Note, putting something inside a class has NOTHING to do with OO.
you're fucking WRONG

>Java is faster (JIT)
This is literally impossible. Java runs on a layer of abstraction above the CPU (JVM), meaning it has to essentially decode an instruction twice (Java 'instruction'/bytecode -> processor instruction -> decoded by CPU). Even if you compile certain "hot spots", it still cannot be faster than a native language.

First learn the difference between oo and oop and don't even get me started with what java was designed to be , it was designed to be a language for fucking tvs. Go try smalltalk and come back and realize why strict oo and oop enforcing isn't practical.Python is pure oo but it doesn't enforce oop unlike java who is not pure oo but enforces oop.Saying java or c# for that matter aren't OO is splitting hairs and reaches the realms of autism.

The autism got me too , meant to reply to

OOP is POO backwards
