Nest Secure / Smart home security

Anyone here have experience with the Nest Secure?
was thinking of getting it, but hasn't arrived in my country yet

and what other smart home security products does Sup Forums use?

(already have a sec camera)

Yes, don't get a botnet home

I'm not getting anything like Alexa / Ghome

but my neighbourhood has a history of breakins
so something like this is ideal
(so I dont have to drill into a wall to set it up)

you're at the top of the "security pyramid of needs" when you're looking at these kinds of digital accessories. what kind of basic physical countermeasures have you set up?

well I'm renting, (apartment, 2nd floor)
so I can't really do anything that requires retrofitting

I have:
>heavy duty locked filing cabinet
>Ring Spotlight camera
(pic rel, has motion detectors, 110 decibel alarm and app to view remotely)

the lock on the primary and balcony door are pretty average
wouldn't be hard to kick down,

that's why i want a few motion detecting gadgets that can notify me

Nest is owned by Google so naturally it's botnet

yeah ok, but even if it was, all i care about is it's ability to secure my house

there's no camera or microphone in any of those pieces though
it's basically just motion detecting

Nest is owned by google. There is no situation where I would EVER use a google-made product in my home.

can you guys pleasegive the botnet meme a rest
just for this one thread?

no soiboi fag, put more locks on your door and fuck off

>can't really do anything that requires retrofitting

>This alarm can't be hushed.
>This alarm can't be hushed.
>This alarm can't be hushed.
>This alarm can't be hushed.

renting isn't an excuse, the landlord can't stop you from installing more locks

?

if you're referring to how easily it would be to smash,
I can always hide it's position so it's harder to find

and/or glue it down so it's difficult to remove

"Tenants must not, without the landlord's consent, install any fixtures or make any alteration, renovation or addition to the rented premises.
If the landlord does consent, they are not required to reimburse any costs to the tenant."

can you guys please stop trying to give me unrelated advice
all I care about is whether or not this product is worth waiting for,

or if there's a better smart home security product

You're not getting any rupees today Pajeet.

>I live in an area prone to break-ins
>I live in an apartment where I'm not allowed to protect myself adequately from break-ins
>maybe I should buy one of these overpriced sirens

what would you recommend then?

i don't have enough time / money to move out again

already said I'm open to suggestions for other effective products

Just use a security service like adt or rent a secure storage locker and put anything of real value in there

have a fake surveillance camera in plain-as-fuck sight pointing towards the balcony door.
also install (yes, it's discreet with ~4 screws) one of those horizontal metal bars and put it over the door.
also install security curtains, talk to fox news about it, and buy a dog

i thought this was a picture of a rice cooker from the thumbnail

i don't think it's worth ~$470 a year + installation

when i get the same effect with the Nest Secure + Ring camera
i get instant notifications when motion is detected, then I can view what's happening in apartment via camera

can activate 110 decibel siren inside camera and call cops if anyone has broken in

>fake surveillance camera

yeah that sounds like it'd work, thanks

>horizontal metal bars
>security curtains

like i said, can't install anything without landlords permission

unless you want me to duct tape the bar to the walls adjacent to the door

you're such a spineless little weakling, OP

if you say so dude

Just rig a pipe shotgun at the doors dumbass.

if you trust your home security to a cloud device run by Google, you're fucking retarded

so what security device do you recommend?

>no retrofitting, needs to be able to plug into the wall
>utilizes a pin code / magnetic tag to disarm
>has siren when motion detected
