Amazon Jobs

Hey Sup Forumsuys, I'm looking to move to Seattle and was wondering what it was like to work as a software programmer for Amazon. I've worked in pretty bleak situations before, so I'm pretty sure I can handle the bad bits of it, but I was wondering if any of you Seattle Sup Forumsuys that work at Amazon could chime in and add their two cents. Thanks!

Go away. Our city is full.

It's awful, they claim to be customer centric, that does not mean they need to treat their employees decently

I would pay top dollar to punch pretentious nerds in their mouth. Fucking betas.

this, fuck off

Fuck of we are full. Consider going to commiefornia where they take away 10% of your money in taxes.

I hear this all the time, but what do you exactly mean you're "full," last I checked there are lots of apartments, just the rent is a little higher than average but I'm sure the Amazon salary can offset that

Care to elaborate? Any stories or your personal experience (without giving out too many identifiable details)?

And since you brought it up, why would I voluntarily subjugate myself to a 10% surcharge on my living expense? It's not like Silicon Valley is less "full" than Seattle, if anything it's the opposite.

While we're here, can we talk about Ultimate Software? Glassdoor gives them 4 stars but you gotta take that shit with a grain of salt.

I could potentially work with them, but it'd be a temp thing. At least I'd have a ""big name""" on my resume?

Fuck Seattle
That whole place is ruining Washington

t. eastern washington

shit's basically like new idaho

>eastern washington
I've thought of moving East.
But all the Aerospace jobs are close to Seattle.

I'm moving there on a data science gig in January. From what I've been told, there's a lot of new work in the area for data scientists. Rent is expensive as shit up here though. I'm going to be paying $1200/month for some one bedroom place. Yikes.

Want to get money for a Sup Forums mansion together?

Don't, work for literally any other company. They have a shit internal culture, literally expect you (and tell you during the interview) that you'll work at least 60 hour work weeks and rampant narcissism internally.

Literally not worth it, work anywhere else.

Don't fucking move to Seattle. We're fucking full. Fuck off.

Doesn't Bill Gates have some new AI foundation that's desperately looking for people right now?

Bill Gates, the founder of Apple? Isn't he dead?

Impoverished losers who can't afford rent detected

Didn't know there were so many poor people on Sup Forums

I've got plenty of money. I'm just tired of all these out of state fucks moving to a shitty city and bringing their even shittier voting opinions along with them which in turn effects me personally.

Are you a Republican?

No.

>Poor
>Living in Seattle
Pick one

But you Dem fucks keep voting our gun rights away alongside voting for higher taxes.
Get ur Tabs renewed recently?
Shit is like $600 instead of like $80

That's the thing, you wouldn't be poor outside of Seattle but you're getting raped by the rent so you're hostile to newcomers looking for a place

>But you Dem fucks
Never said I was dem. I'm pro gun. I think the people were lied to about how much that tabs shit was going to cost, and I'm sick of Seattle (and king county as a whole) being the blue anchor in an otherwise red state.

I don't identify with the Dems any more because they've gone off the deep end, but the Republicans seem to be wanting to show they won't be left behind and are trying to jump off the deep end with the Dems.

I'm a student who will be studying CS in Seattle.
Does anyone have any experience in getting internships or just starting out that they would like to share?

You missed the wave, Amazon is dialing it back and you're gonna need to be really lucky to get a job. Also, fuck Seattle, find somewhere else. We don't need more people living here.

Jacked up housing prices and cost of living are one thing. Jam packed freeways and horrible commute times are another. Everyone and their grandma commutes into Seattle every morning, and the roads are all shit and poorly maintained (like I can't even use my laptop on the bus because I-5 is so bumpy). Every time it rains (which is all the fucking time) people forget how to drive again, crash and fuck up the commute even more.

I don't get how people can live in the northwest and still do

As annoying as that is, I'd rather they take it slower than cause another wreck. I can deal with slow moving traffic, but when it's stop and go I just want to scream.

Honestly depends on the team that you're on, if you stay out of retail and AWS you should be fine. I work in optimizing routes and everyone on my team works 35-40hr weeks

>has an 80 character width ruler
>goes over it
WHY?

I want to move there from Vancouver to escape the Chinese. Know any companies hiring Canadians?

So what other tech company is there in Seattle aside from Amazon?

If there's a nuke strike in Seattle, all of Washington state will suffer due to nuclear fallout, so much for "muh constitution"

Google, Microsoft, tons of startups on the Eastside, Valve, Expedia, Nintendo...

except you little bitch can't do anything

Sounds like my city here in Mexico.
I wish there was a better driving culture, but in many cities they removed the driving examen for the driving license.

"Customer centric," "Guest focused," "Consumer oriented" all mean the company gives no shits about its employees.
