Free computer stuff

There is some old computer shit going into the garbage outside of my university.

Would Sup Forums take any of it? Imgur album below

I would pick the printers and that copying machine.
That copying machine alone is worth a ton.

Also, what the fuck is that?

If those are mech keyboards, I'll take the one in best shape. Are you in the US?

Look at the imgur album, and you may be able to find out what university it is.

good find OP, take all of it, even the chairs
looks like UPS

University of California. Ok.

Pick all Keyboards

I don't have room to take all of it

just store it all at your parents house.
or pick up one of those edge servers.

UCLA you dip

That warning sticker is for a laser though. It wouldn't make sense for it to be on a UPS. It could just be a PC with a CD or laser disk drive; or some interesting piece of lab equipment using lasers.

agreed

didn't notice that
even more reason to yoink

Looks like a bunch of early/mid 2000s junk. Printer probably worth something, but it's way too big for me to pick up. Can you take a pic of the keyboards?

sorry its too dark now

I'd take some of the beige box dells and any monitors available if I could

Can you tell me what model they are at least?

The scsi connectors and pluggable interfaces make me think it's a SAN. Dunno about the laser sticker though, maybe it had some fibre interface once that required it.. or just a dvd/cd drive as you say, but in a san..? Plus, only one PSU, so maybe I'm wrong..?

OP, show full frontal, I'm curious now

>bunch of early/mid 2000s non-botnetted treasure
FTFY

it looks like there are 2 ibm model m keyboards in that picture, those are worth quite a bit, take them. i would if i lived in california though, but sadly im on the other side of the US.

I would take any and all of it
What university?

Now you know what to try if you're hanging around the psychology department.

Is this UCLA, outside the physics building? If so mind if I take a keyboard and the headphones?

I want the chair.

socal here

>Refrigerator
>no food or drink
mmm, biohazards

>SynAmps Neuroscan
hmm, interesting.

And that Marathon thing is apparently a centrifuge.

>taking scrap computers from in front of the uni

Have fun getting in trouble for that.

They LOVE to shit on you for daring to take the old hardware and use it instead of them throwing them away.

:(

Hey OP, I'm in Ventura, this still available?

dunno

there is a security cam outside so i ended up not grabbing anything out of fear

maybe plan to go back with a ski mask

Is it not possible to just ask for that stuff?

i swear if i knew

I would legit cop that copier.

Oh wtf, I thought you were the one giving them away. Woops

Borrow an orange safety vest, helmet, clipboard and back up a truck to the pile. Grab stuff and make like you're checking off items.

GENIUS

>We aren't lawyers but this is our best
>understanding as plain-old US citizens.
>Dumpster diving is legal in the United States
>except where prohibited by local regulation.
>According to a 1988 Supreme Court Ruling
>(California vs. Greenwood), when a person
>throws something out, that item is now the
>public domain.

Take it all OP.

it isn't in the garbage yet though

its in the loading dock to a garbage

Your tuition should entitle you to that "junk", shall not be infringed!

I've heard that if it's at the curb, then it's garbage.
I've also heard that if it's in a dumpster, but the dumpster is locked or behind a locked gate, it's not garbage.
user must ask user's self: do garbage loading bays count as curbs?

>wow look at all that garb..
>University of California

checks out

multiple disc device. maybe a multi burner or CD jukebox (popular with libraries for a time)
it's the only thing in that pile worth taking if it is.

to be honest, i don't know if its a garbage loading bay or a bay to some e waste recycling plant

recycling is always a no-go for diving
sucks user

I've done this getting an RC plane out of a tree. Can confirm that people just leave you alone.

Easy $1K

Barry was the one decent guy on that show

If you have any buckling spring/alps keyboards, those are easy cash. Rest wouldn't know, probably worthless.

What are you even thinking.
They encourage you to take it, specially if you tell them you have a project with it or have interest.

What kind of backwards world are you in, USA? I've heard the Unis there are pretty fucked up these days.
