>Ok Google, remote start my Hyundai and set the climate to full heat.
Do we care that the government is listening to me do menial everyday tasks if this thing is only $30?

Just because you have nothing to hide doesn't mean they have nothing to find
actually I got one on sale for $15 yesterday
and the answer is no.
literally a convenience device. tone down the autism you fucking retards
He said while on Sup Forums
Having to pre-start your car at 5 in the morning is a wage slave thing.
You don't actually do that right?
giggle homie does remote start + climate control? Does it take up the car's OBD port?
>A fucking Hyundai with remote start
Even on my $22,000 Toyota I had to hack that shit together with an orange pi, what fucking Hyundai would have that integrated?
It's a standard feature now, even on the base model.
I don't know why you'd buy toyotas in 2017, most of them just look like bad hyundai clones (or hyundais look like toyota clones), either way, they have more bang for your buck while toyota careens you off overpasses at 90mph.
how would it do that? thermostats are analog and have to be turned with hands and i dont have a car but it would start with a normal key if i had.
>careens you off overpasses at 90mph.
Don't joke user, the love of my life's fucking traction control kicked in when going around a corner on oil, the wheels all locked and it slid sideways.
Been in for repairs for the last month and a fucking half. Fixed price insurance meant they went and fixed it even though it cost more to repair than a replacement car.
Apparently this happened on a lot of this specific model, lawyer is looking at suing for damages, a new car, and paying my insurance company so I have a clean record.
Even if it's a deathbox it's a cute small comfy deathbox. There may be many like it, but this one's special because it's mine, and as angry as I am, imma keep it forever.
Nigga you joking?
That's a prius C?
serves you right for buying a cuckbox.
My car doesn't have remote start. I rationalize that I save a bit on fuel. But idk.
Call me old fashioned, but your car has no business having it's most essential functionality like the ENGINE START being fully exposed over the internet.
All of them, as long as you didn't get one with a manual transmission for some reason. The catch is its only usable if you activate their BlueLink subscription service for $120 a year.
Looked at one of these, along with a bunch of other cars. But it pisses me off that Toyota doesn't support Android Auto, so I passed.
Not sure if you're retarded or not but most new cars have computer controlled everything. All the controls are pretty much a giant fucking driving sim controller that hooks up to a computer and actually controls the car. Who the fuck knows why, but thats how it is now.
This. The IoT meme has gone too far
It listens to everything in your neighborhood 24/7.
It's been like that for 20 years.
I was fine with it up until they started including always-on GSM modem internet so they could remote-disable your shit for any reason.
08 jeep WK factory remote start i'd love to start my jeep via my google home
fuck off neet
This is why all new cars are so awful to drive.
You are a slave to your ECU.
Any press of the brakes, the gas pedal, even the goddamn switches that open the doors, you're not doing anything, you're just sending a SUGGESTION to the ECU to let you do those things you're asking.
You have a manual car? SHIFT DENIED.
>we
> Tfw base model 2014 ford fusion
> tfw a few aftermarket handling parts in it (no no lowering)
> tfw not stock speakers
> tfw sync is pretty comfy for music from dedicated car music usb (sad that it doesn't support FLAC but w/e)
> tfw could put in a remote start thing
Why are base model cars not the official cars of Sup Forums... in general.. if you want something in the car that isn't.. just put it in
because most people on Sup Forums are poor
cars as a hobby is super expensive compared to computers as a hobby
most people aren't into cars, they see cars as appliances they jump into to take them places
people who are into cars don't complain about having to wrench shit
having the space for more than 1 car and even the tools to work on your car is a luxury many people don't have
Underrated post.
>live somewhere it gets -35c already this time of year
>have to preheat car to go anywhere at all
Idling your car is fucking dumb. Start it when you get outside, get rid of snow and ice or get in and start fiddling with the stereo or take a couple sips of coffee, then go.
> Speakers
like 100 x 4 bucks for a 4 speaker car like mine
> Front tower strut + rear sway bar
literally 230 bucks
> Remote start thing
300? iirc
Most people here spend more on their pc than that price total.. and my car is *relatively* new.. old aftermarket parts for older cars are much cheaper ... But I do get what you're saying
hello NSA
Then buy a Volkswagen.
Mostly mechanical still. Thank fuck.
Don't fuck up so bad on shifting that it denies the shift
WE'RE GETTING SO CLOSE
THEY GOT THE SHAPE RIGHT
>wearing your watch on the inside of your wrist
shiggydiggy
That it is
(I just call it an Aqua to avoid people like )
Holy shit, nice!
Was kinda interested in an i30, but I wanted something smaller so I ignored it.
As for android auto, that's the least of your concern. The Australian Prius C doesn't even have pre collision breaking, lane departure correction, or any of those safety features that are standard in the $10,000 cheaper Yaris.
I just listen to music with my iPod and use a dashmount for my phone, so I was never bothered with android auto, but the dash is still really lacking. Many of them get stuck in a reboot loop, mine did on day one (then fixed itself randomly and has been fine since).
Easy to replace with third party though, just hard to find something that suits the cars interior so I've left it. Talks to my iPod nano and phone, so I'm happy as anything.
But the car is still dumb as a brick. I literally wired up a relay to the start button, along with a key permanently in the car, so if I wanna remotely start it, it first powers up the key, then hits the button.
Next I'm gonna splice into the climate controlles, so whenever the interior gets too hot the car will start itself and blast the Aircon for a while. Still wish it did that automatically.
Says the best without a car
Fucking autocorrect
>Says the NEET without a car
>auto collision detection
>lane correction
>parking camera
>auto-parallel parking
Can you imagine not being able to parallel-park by yourself?
The government also records your home videos or masturbation session and sells it.
Remenber The Fappening? Stupud bitches trusted Apple snd NSA to keep their nudes, somebody just sold them on TOR.
And before you say anything everything leaks, just look on wikileaks and snowden, thats about the most secret info in the world on public access.
>buying cars with electronics
Absolutely proprietary.
Considering it's a requirement to have a licence where I live, no.
That doesn't mean I wouldn't like the convenience.
As for rear view cameras, if nothing they save countless kids from being squished each year.
And pre-collision breaking is quite nice of you live somewhere with fuckwit drivers who are actively trying to cause a crash.
The government is not that bad why would they care what you're doing? They have so much going on they don't have time or the money to waste on watching some neet fap to traps.
>Ok Google, remote start my Hyundai and open the garage door
Saying you don't care about privacy because you have nothing to hide is like saying you don't care about free speech because you have nothing to say.
Fpbp
FUCK free speech. :^)
Yeah, most people don't care about free speech, especially if the speech disagrees with their worldview.
They can use the voice samples taken from Alexa, Google Home, etc. to create a clip of you saying he's going to shoot up a school, fly plane into buildings, etc. using newer text-to-speech system that can be trained using random voice samples.
If they wanted to frame you, they could just get a sound-alike to do it, no need to patch together grainy audio.
Hell, they don't even need to do anything big, they can plant illegal shit on your machines remotely.
that is why such evidence no longer counts
addons.mozilla.org
Funny, I'm rocking this on Nightly right now.
If they want you gone, they'll just kill you remotely, with your newfangled internet-connected remote-starting car.
>thesun.co.uk
Wait are all new cars seriously like this? Like the computer can stop you from doing stuff? I might buy used in that case.
what is remote detonate for $500 Alex.?
I think so. Not sure if any cars aren't like that or if it's possible to remove it. We need a Linux of the car world.
You'd have to go 1995 model year or older at this point. The government mandated that all new cars have computers in them starting in the mid 90s, IIRC.
Too lazy to wiki it right now.
Or they can hire a voice actor to impersonate you, or use a machine learning algorithm to synthesize your voice based on videoblogging/radio/television audio clips you would undoubtedly have if you were opposition significant enough to care about. Fuck, why bother with that which as people already said would probably be thrown out of court anyway, just plant shit like said, or, you know, just fucking kill them. It's not like it's hard to assassinate someone and make it look like a botched robbery/mugging.
Stop acting like espionage and surveillance states were impossible before the internet, if some of the most powerful entities on Earth want you gone they're going to do it whether you spent $30 on some shit google data mining device or not.
True.
If they want that ass, they gonna get it.
Does it work without internet? Can i do the processing on my end?
>People finally accepts having electronic goverment spies inside house.
>People buy shit like that and live on their own.
>NSA now listens fapping sounds on background because allways someone in murica must be fapping.
Yes, NSA. You can remotely listen to me fap even when I don't pay my ISP bill.
>Can i do the processing on my end?
Yeah. By doing shit yourself and remembering things or using a notebook and a writing utensil.
>electronic goverment spies
what is a cell phone
>they don't make manuals
>they don't make key ignitions
>they don't make cars without infotainment shit
>they don't make cars without drive-by-wire ECU systems
I'm never letting go of my 2000 shitbox.
>Do we care
I do. You apparently don't. Also, my car sits in a garage, so I just have to walk out of my kitchen, and my car is there. Even if that wasn't the case, my car comes with the ability to remote start without needing a NSA speaker in my home.
>2000
Any car made after the mid 90s has a computer. Nice try faggot.
I have a 2012 Honda Fit Sport. It's manual. It's a key ignition. Closest to "infotainment shit," that I have is a USB dongle. As for a computer, I'm pretty sure you've got one.
I'm using this theme
addons.mozilla.org
Sir, I would like to inform you that you are infact wrong.
No remote connection to a 1998 F150. Only that sweet OBD2 port.
Though, I would like a computer-free car as my t/o/y
Sure, bud. Go to /o/ and learn some shit, mongoloid.
If it's anything like the 98 Nissan Frontier that I owned, you've got yourself a nice truck. Take care of it.
Honda Fit
Hyundai Accent
Nissan Versa
Mitsubishi Mirage
Toyota Yaris
Kia Rio
Mazda 2
Chevy Spark
Chevy Sonic
Modern econobox cars without most of the luxury bullshit, off the top of my head. You'll still get infotainment, since you're mandated to have a screen for the mandated backup camera, so why have a screen and not let it do other stuff, but most if not all these cars can be had with manuals, key ignitions, etc.
>>Ok Google, remote start my Hyundai and set the climate to full heat
It cant actually do this can it? Wtf
This is disingenuous and you know it.
Only the lowest trim models of all these cars have key ignition, manual transmission and none of the modern niceities you'd actually want, like power windows.
Plus, no dealership has them, ever.
They barely make money off them, so you have to order it, and that means you're forced to pay sticker price.
>2017
>caring about manual transmission
Why?
Well then this was disingenuous from the start. They do still make cars with manual transmissions, regular keys, barebones media systems, etc.
And you can find plenty of all these cars for sale, because they're so fucking cheap in the first place.
>autotrader.com
Fun to drive
hipsterism
All cars made in the 90s and newer have OBD ports that rely on a computer
/thread
And nice play on the usual shitty versions spouted by kikes
>there are people that willingly place Orwellian-tier botnet shit in their home and give it access to their appliances, locks, doors, and vehicles so they can have the heater in their car ready for them and not have to wait a whole minute for heat while driving
>says the phone poster
Fuck off slave(not a neet here)
This, hell I've got an 85 F150 with an ECU
Fpbp
>binding your car with jewgle
Don't forget the brakes!
There's a difference between a 90's "computer" in a car that controls the fuel injectors and a modern one that controls fucking everything and is made of the cheapest chinese shit possible to run crappy pajeetware to go WOT for the fucking lulz.
>not layering up and just jumping in to your $500 winter beater and going fill throttle out of your drive way to speed up heating
Canada fag here
>is made of the cheapest chinese shit possible
You've never seen early '90s American automotive electronics.
They are cheaper than Chinese shit, as if the engineers who designed it and the people who etched the boards did not give a single fuck. The stigma against electronic control in US automobiles stems from decades of American auto manufacturers intentionally making faulty equipment.
>OK Google, run this bastard into the wall
>buying new cars
what is even the point?
there's nothing more stupid than making payments on a depreciating asset
unless you bought something exotic, you lose 80% of your car's value within 6 years, you might as well buy a 6 year old model with all the nice high end trim features at a price point where it's hit the deprecation floor and won't get any cheaper.
Stop spewing this mid 90s shit and do a quick Google search for fuck sakes.
Yes old cars had obd1 """computers"" but that's not the botnet this thread is talking about. The mid 90s computer you're talking about stops the engine from blowing up and doesn't expose climate and ignition information to the world wide web. Are you retarded? Hyundia knows when your car is on or off. It knows your climate information. It probably has GPS info too. DO YOU THINK A MID 90S CAR SENDS THAT KIND OF INFORMATION FUCK.
Our grandchildren won't have a choice, IOT devices will be the only ones available.
Hmmm.... I wonder when satellite/gps/bluetooth communication protocols started being introduced into cars.....
I wonder if that vehicle has an active 2 way satellite/internet connection. You fucking dumbass.
Fucking an hero.
>leaving for work at 5am
Literal slave labor
those didn't even make it into poor people cars until the late 2000s.
Even the cheapest electronics from the 90s are of better quality than the shit that is in new vehicles.
It's also not a big deal when the electronics in the 90's car fail. Worst case, the car wont start. In a new car you get sent into a fucking tree at 100mph when the computer takes a shit.
Fucking kill yourself for even trying to defend chink garbage.
