Has to re-mount all of my drives

>has to re-mount all of my drives
damn linux is really a half assed os

Context?

no actually you have to manually edit a text file called /etc/fstab using an autistic little text editor and you have to spend hours reading man files and tutorials online to figure out how to do it

barley!

>problem with no context
Welp this other thing sure sucks

That is you. That is what you sound like.

>man fstab and man /etc/fstab
>RTFM
>Edit /etc/fstab to follow the guidelines in both man pages
Wow, so hard

That's how operating systems work, retarded mongrel.

>have to tell computer to do something that every other OS does automatically

Gg

Lmao I have no idea what any of this means. Enjoy your 0.5% market share until you fix your user unfriendly shitty OS

You have to go back to Sup Forumseddit.

not who you replied to

Linux is a joke if it can’t even auto mount drives without user intervention.

We are still at a point where 90% of DEs don’t even display thumbnails for images. Maybe if you lot stopped trying to work on 2000 projects at once and actually had some fucking consensus, shit would work and you wouldn’t have to rely on Google for your market share.

Meanwhile, on Windows

Literally never had to do it

>not just using gedit, kate, or mousepad

Actually all examples you need are in the fucking fstab.
How did you end up with a distro without systemd?

Yeah I just put 1 and 1 together and edited fstab myself without manuals just googling how to find UUID, and I'm retarded.

>can't edit an fstab

Fucking really?

Let me guess, you're a fucking scrublord who mounted all his NFS shares in root.

The fuck bullshit did you just type? This shit right here is why nobody uses your fucktard operating system.

>Install thunar-volman
>it automounts all your drive at /run/media/$USER/$DRIVENAME
>symlink /run/media/$USER to ~/drives and have them in the navigation bar automatically
>???
Werks for me
2/10 bat made me reply

OP fucks up and is too lazy to type four commands in or to reboot after making sure fstab is clean.

Bait. No one is actually this stupid.

Indeed...nobody would actually command line shit a legitimate OS does with ease.

user use Ubuntu
>but it doesn’t have {autistic package} and it has {systemd}
Wow tough luck have fun then. Maybe file a bug report or implement an fstab config script.

This should be where this thread ends.

Wtf are you doing on Sup Forums?

why don't you guys just use gvfs and your file manager lol

>Falling for this Street shitter bait

>2017
>Doesn't know how to use fstab

I tried using fstab once. Upon next reboot I was in rescue mode. Being the pleb I am, I just stuck with using the gnome disk utility.

fstab nigga it takes like 3 seconds

>he fell for the systemd is bad meme

user_mount 1

Even on my minimal systemd-free system (Void), i have never mount a disk manually. What kind of shitty distro are you using ? LFS ?

/dev/sdb1 /mnt/data ntfs defaults 0 0

was that so hard?

udev does this for me. I don't have this problem on my machine faggot

Why are they being so smug when they're factually incorrect about basic things?
Literally only time I've had to manually mount drives was when I was using minimal installations, and even then it was a one-time thing.
>Acting smug while saying the DE is responsible for the file browser
Do three seconds of research user
Have you tried doing anything slightly out of the ordinary on Windows? The OS fights you every step of the way.

>thinkpad comes with Linux
>wipe SSD and install Windows 7
Imagine actually using the trash can that is Linux and being smug about it

ty for kek, user.
