Honestly fuck Arch up its stupid fucking ass. It always fucking breaks. Every other time I update it wants to go apeshit over some nonsense. I'm thinking about moving to Slack. Is Slack the antithesis of Arch? If not tell me what is

I'm reduced to phoneposting like a disgusting pleb. Look what Arch has done.

...

You fell for the meme OP

people that need to get shit done, but want to be current, use Opensuse Tumbleweed, everything else is shit tier.

>rolling release
no thank you

Use Opensuse Leap then cuck

...

Funny, I had less problems on Arch than on any other distro.

CentOS if you don't recognize the logo.

>Arch want's to upgrade anything necessary for the system to work
>Wait at least 1 day
>Check forums to see if any impatient fags got fugged
>If they did see why
>If it's nothing that will fuck your shit up then
>sudo pacman -Syu

manjaro

Why do they release the updates at all if it causes problems?

Slackware is not the antithesis of Arch.
Slackware is vanilla UNIX philosophy. With a "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality.
Arch is UNIX philosophy + KISS philosophy with an emphasis on up to date packages and being as upstream as possible (even if it violates UNIX philosophy, hence systemd)
They are pretty similar in that UNIX philosophy and KISS are pretty similar.

Because they just compile and release, unlike Debian (stable) they don't test it, hence the name, **Bleeding** Edge™

it's either debian or Sup Forumsentoo. Everything is a meme or bloat

I use Antergos on my school laptop and I've never had an issue with upgrading. I also dual boot sometimes and updating after a while is totally fine

I've been running the same Arch install on my current laptop for about 14 months now without any unrecoverable fuckups.

So Red Hat and CentOS are memes you say?

>>rolling release
>no thank you
wtf whats arch then? stable af release based distro?

>installs rolling release distro
>what the fugg, it broke after updating
keep up

Yes and arch is bloat

Just try Slackware

I will add linux mint. Its perfect for newbies and people who didnt fell into "bleeding edge" and "minimalism" memes.

I find installing arch actually easy and if you're using new software support is much better than most other distros that need to play catch up, but god it's a bitch to maintain. There's a dice roll every time you do pacman -Syu of having to fix some shit through chroot.

After 3 years of dealing with it, my machine went tits up updating tensorflow last week when I had a deadline. I decided I don't have time for this shit anymore. I'm done.

>
>Why do they release the updates at all if it causes problems?
They don't INTEND shit to break. Latest versions of libraries can kill backwards compatibility . in a sense it's not even such who writes the code to break system

Arch * who writes...

I've had the same arch install for six years now, my x conf broke once.

Once, has my setup broken in six years of normal usage and daily upgrades, significantly better than windows, and even then it was a 5 minute fix.

You must be a huge brainlet

Archlinux is a dongsniffer meme distro.

They say MUH MINIMALISM, but it just lacks functionality normal distro has.
If you want good minimal distro to set up at your will get fucking debian not some meme barflinux, it has easy to use and good installer, and you can pack it with preinstalled stuff or just set it 100% clear and install the hell you want.
And debian wont have problem with barfman ruining xorg.conf because debian dont have barfman but superior pat-get and dpkg meant to do its job.

Or memes like "MUH BLEEDING EDGE" you are just stupid test rats because guys who make packages for barfman just compile newest from source and mindlessly put on repository because they dont want to test that shit, they put untested shit and they tell you you should jump of joy because "A BLEEDING EDGE IS A GODHOOD".

And AUR is a joke, a retarted pseudorepo where people put any shit code they will shit out of their crapped minds, not to mention someone just can put here viruses or other malicious shit to troll shits like you while virus creator just laughs at you on his debian computer.

ANd something outside any repos? Well hahahahha because if there are any packages you can download from internet (Like GoG or Discord), you will get mostly Debian(And his children) or Redhat(and his children) compatible packages while nobody even gives shit about Barflinux

Just get a fucking debian or his son ubuntu or his grandson mint.
You will the same linux experience but without fucking up your ZOS every update.

...

Memes aside Debian netinst is what you want my man. Stable as shit, truly minimal unlike Arch.

...

Well, you can do that...

OP how can you fuck up so easily, I don't know what you run it on but Arch has been the most stable distro I've used. What did you do?

>has been the most stable distro I've used
Same for me.

when u want to get things done, use Distro I Use (TM) ....... everythingk ELSE SUCKS UNCONDITIONALY. trolled em!

>Not only using Core, Community and Extra Repos
Chances are, if your shit breaks, it's because you're an idiot and are probably using one of the testing repositories. The Arch Wiki warns how potentially dangerous this is. This is no fault of Arch. Arch is a stable rolling release.

Just take the BSD pill already brother.

Why not use Arch on filesystem with snapshots?
I have been running Arch on zfs, and every time something goes wrong after an update i just rollback and wait for couple days and/or skip package that had it configs changed or something.

really? everytime arch broke for was because i was a dumbass and broke something myself.

same here

they dont cause problema, thats a meme

manjaro.org/

what de?

Manjaro is another meme distro. Its arch but with green and graphical installer.

>Having trouble with Arch
>Moving over to Slack.
Not recommended, unless you decide to install Salix or something.
Want a rolling release, minimal distro that's fairly stable and doesn't require systemD? That's Void.
Want a rock solid distro that uses older packages for stability's sake? That's Debian Stable.

same thing here went for manjaro

Yep, sounds good to me.
They keep the arch bullshittery away from the user.
Rather happy with it.
It's not OpenBSD, but pretty good for what it is.

Another man who has seen reason.

t. Debian user

still updates can fuck up your system and force you to fix it over and over

>being too much of a brainlet to maintain an arch install

Arch never broke on my machines, I even use it on all my servers and also no problem there, must be you.

the problem often sits in front of the keyboard, go back to ubuntu.

Famalams should I install arch or gentoo on my raspi 3?

I've never had Arch break on me

>install arch
>too stupid for his own good retard installs a bunch of conflicting packages
>it breaks
>hurrrrr arch is shit guys

This is why I use Manjaro.

Shit breaks? - I just re-install.

>Re-install entire OS to troubleshoot
>Lists re-installation as a reason for using Manjaro as if re-installation is exclusive to Manjaro...

Well Manjaro is built for literal retards that want to be l33t h4x0rz but can't even manage an arch install, so...

South it's perfect for me

>Reinstall Arch
>Have to rember these command
>su
>pacman -S sudo xfce4 xfce4-goodies libreoffice chromium nvidia-dkms etc...
>git clone ht....cower
>git clone ht....pacaur
On manjaro you don't have to do any of this carp.

just install 8.1..... turn off updates....
and just delete the file-sharing thing that had bug that allowed wannacry infection

Me too.

The real meme is "Arch Linux constantly breaks itself"/"Arch Linux is a meme".
Been using it for almost 2 years and never had a single issue. Everything works as expected.

pacaur is dead though

What's the alternative?

trizen
Works like pacman and has all the features you need.
wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AUR_helpers#Comparison_table

I'm on Manjaro and I love it. It's like Arch except that it doesn't break. I feel like it's what Arch was meant to be.

Have you ever updated a kernel? Like ever? Because in my experience there is no way that *doesn't* break the system.

Me too, tried Debian and Gentoo both had issues over time.
Arch just werks

Stop using a custom kernel. If you use vanilla, kernel upgrades never break.

> No apps.

This desu.

As much as I hate systemd, Arch works great if you're not a bumbling idiot.

There should be a sign on the arch website that says "you must be this smart to use this operating system"

>a retarted pseudorepo where people put any shit code they will shit out of their crapped mind

clueless

I haven't had arch break on me for the past 2 years. I mean packages sometimes do fuck up and that's expected with a rolling release, but Pacman keeps a cache of previous packages to roll back to. I have a few packages that commonly break in my ignorepkg's too. I don't update during midterms or finals for obvious reasons. Once I got into the swing of things, maintenance is ezpz, especially with scripts and hooks.

>apps
Maybe you are looking for an Android device you normie scum. It's Linux it's just old, it runs desktop environments, coreutils, and anything else that's fine with it's version of glibc and the kernel.

I've been using arch exclusively for about 7 years and it's only broken a few times because of something I did
> wurks on my machine

Literally this
> get laptop
> put debian
> touch pad not recognized
> fuck it have Ubuntu
> wireless card not working and screen resolution not showing up
> fuck it all might as well try arch
> works out of the box

this
I have Arch+MATE, literally just fucking works and i do system upgrades all the time

Hey yo that's a good idea. Water chamber chair thing. I would imagine it would put less weight on your ass reducing the chance of a life ending blood clot so you can shitpost for longer. Where can I buy?

arch works fine without systemd

Who /blackarch/ here

It's because Arch enables every kernel module available by default. And people think it isn't bloated.

>if it actually works then it's bloated
The absolute state of Lusers

Kek, old but gold.

>that pic

Wtf I'm installing Arch now.

Arch is aimed at competent gnu/linux users.

>Arch: best package manager
>Slack: no package manager
>Is Slack the antithesis of Arch
Sounds about right

yah switch to a distro that has no dependency management, good idea

>using Linux for personal use
>using one of the worst and most volatile distributions of Linux for personal use

This board never ceases to amaze.
