yes, I use an NAS to store most of my media files and vidya roms since my laptop only has a 128gb ssd. My internet is 25mbps which wireless G is sufficient for. Copying over lan at 3 mb/s is killing me. Even loading the file list with file browser takes a while.

Today I picked up my DataFrog Controller but it was a pain in the ass. Wall of text incoming:
I'm aware there are $3 snes controllers but this thing was $4, so I assumed it was of better quality than the chinkier version. Well turns out either I got a defective product or everybody else shills this thing in the reviews. The D Pad is fine if you play games where diagonal inputs aren't necessary, but it's completely useless at fighting games, at least without modifications. The face buttons are mushy like the DS Lite's, the L and R were clicky but they got better after some use (just deal with it fag). After some tinkering I discovered the down press needed some extra pressure in order to work, so I shoved a piece of napkin under it and it worked better.
It works fine in emulators, Shovel Knight, Cave Story and Kero Blaster; however I tried using it with Spelunky, Rabi Raibi, Guacamelee and it doesn't register the dpad input, not even in Big Picture mode.
Is there a generic 8 button gamepad driver I can use? Yes, I already uninstalled and reinstalled, the problem persisted. Pic related, the controller and its guts.

Some games refuse to work with it because it doesn't have an analog stick, no idea why the devs thought it was necessary to implement that check. I haven't tried any of the games you mentioned but that's the reason why Stardew Valley doesn't work with it. It maps the d-pad to the analog input of the driver, and that's just not there.
