>write code
>fix servers
>migrate DBs
All for the equivalent of $6,274.8 USD a year in a small company in Mootxico, at least I get to work from home almost all the time.

at least it's not best buy, where they pay 0% for computers and video games
true story
>work from home
how does this happen?
do they advertise the job as such,
or is this a contract type deal?

I restart computers and reset passwords

Get into outsourcing firms if you are good, you still work for home but you get paid absurd money, which is still pennies compared to paying Americans.

Company was about to go broke, and I was literally the whole it department, since they couldn't pay me more at the time I set everything up and negociated for that.

Just a verbal agreement with the owners and c-levels, on paper I work 8-5 mon-fri, in reality some days I work 1 hour or less a day, just have to be available to answer calls and do work if needed, it's super rare, but 12+ hour days happen.

student loans and my mom gives me $600/mo

I am really fucking good, but all I have is a highschool diploma.

Salaries are shit here, even with a college degree, plus it's hard to get past HR without degrees, which means I'm actually doing better than most people in similar situations.

Currently getting a software engineering degree.

do you walk or drive?

~130k a year
I'm a software ""engineer""

Code monkey for a small financial services firm. Trying to move into a bigger company.

>~130k a year
but what's your cost of living? in SF that's like "pay the rent and sometimes buy food" funds

that finance&code combo will prolly look nice tho

The government pays me welfare for studying, and I live with my parents who pay for my expenses from time to time. Planning on getting a programming summer job for 2000-2500 € per month, partly because I can't graduate without it.

freelance software development
$80/hr

Support/dev for a SaaS company that sells to other businesses. $80k a year work from home.

I've thought about this. What's the process? Take the ASVAB and see?
Did you work in the field before freelancing, or start freelance immediately? What kind of clients and projects do you get?
Any tips on finding work from home positions?

Yeah, ASVAB will pretty much do all the hard choices for you. I would brush up on English, Math, and some shop knowledge. You got debt?

I'm a wireless engineer for an ISP. It's a fun job with a lot of potential for learning.

I day trade crypto, up 25 grand today thanks to DOGE

you fags are doing it wrong

I joined the army

>shop knowledge
oh fuggg... I have almost none. What all does this aspect entail?
debt free though
yeah i know i goofed on the crypto train

corporate bootlicker for kikes

Steamfitter apprentice yr 3
>2 more years till journeyman
>Made $76k this year
And I had three and a half months off

Just a portion on your test. If you want a decent MOS, prepare for the ASVAB, and go airbourne. Once you take the real ASVAB you can't retest for five years. Honestly, the army was the best thing to happen to me. Pulled me out of poverty, have me a technical education, made me fit, and a sense of brotherhood. Wouldn't change a thing.

...

thanks for the tips. Are ASVAB prep books i'd find at a public library worth a damn?

I'm a NEET in Canada with an engineering degree and crippling social anxiety

Yes. It's a really good time also. Army's handing out bonuses like crazy. When I came in, I just got a job. New guy at our unit got a 40,000 sign bonus to do the same shit. I got 79,000 for reenlisting earlier this year too.

>Did you work in the field before freelancing
no
>What kind of clients and projects do you get?
mostly simple CRUD type stuff
>create a server
>create some software that runs every so often to get data from some website or database
>update the database on this server with that data
>make it available to the client somehow usually in the form of a webpage on the server

once in a while I'll need to make some simple desktop software instead

clients are usually business owners, but sometimes they are individuals
for example, recently had a day trader who wanted a windows desktop program to make it easier for him to check on his stocks and manage them

I work a trade because cat-v.org made me hate all software to the point where even vi, literally UNIX vi, was too bloated for me. Hell, UNIX is too bloated. I'm not going to dedicate my life to supporting and propagating shitty software.

Honestly if you don't have a family and aren't so risk averse that you never accrue debt or try investing you don't need to make more than $70k a year. Just don't live in a metro.

I guess it also helps that I prefer apriliia to ducati and the SW20 to the 911.

by what means do you find clients/advertise yourself?

greets, i work being a server and do weddings...
Week end job, dropped out of college.
Now i do that server job as well as invest in crypto. I suggest you do too, the market is exploding with all walks of life.... autists included.

my $400 investment is already 958 3 days later? Just don't be a fag and buy into the wrong ones.

liar. Show proof or die doge shill.
I'm up on Cardano : ) Did you see the massive increase this past day, GG

yeah i want remote work so I can stay out of the metros. why any wants to live in that population density is a mystery to me

I used to do webdev, but I fucking hated it so I started fiddling around with Microcontrollers and eventually got a job as a PLC programmer and HMI designer.

Everything went better than expected.

This sounds like a good path

Search Linkedin, Monster, etc. Git gud first though. Certs help.

An IT degree and a basic understanding of electronics was enough for me.

Ayyyyyy. I'm a software engineer out of SPK. You out of SEA or one of the weird offices?

I am a doctorate student

I get paid to work 6 sometimes 7 days / month, I get paid a normal salary - medium actually, and during a working day I do at most 1 hour of real effort.

I've started to level on a vanilla private server during work time.

I'm starting to consider using my care-free free time to earn some cash.

I work in trades, its kind of irrelevant which one since they all pay similar wages, but this year Ill end up making about $60k. Last year I made about $85k because I was working out of town a lot more. With the raise I'll be getting I should be able to push around $100k this next year if I'm working out of town most of the year.

40 USD/hour contracting remotely which allows me to move around and live in places with a low cost of living (not American btw). Work maybe 5~6 hours a day and not putting much effort into it. Feels good man.
