>Canadian TV
Is this a thing or do they only watch American tv shows?
Canadian TV
They have a state run media corporation that regulates how much American media is aired in Canada so they don't lose their culture even though we are pretty much the same people
>so they don't lose their culture
>their culture
What do you mean by that?
They feel that Canada is losing it's british heritage.
Does this just mean they air The Bachelor: Canada instead of The Bachelor? I have only ever seen six or seven actual Australian TV shows, and you really have to look back into history for them.
Canada does have it's own shows and music.
But is/was Farscape popular in Australia
Like what? Canadian versions of popular American shows?
Trailer park boys, Johnny test, lost girl, Degrassi
Quebec has its own shows
The rest of Canada is assimilated in American culture
Canadian radio stations are requires to have at least 30% Canadian-made content.
does Drake count as Canadian music
Also is Drake the most popular person in Canada besides Trudeau?
...
They had goat kids shows and literally every CW show is filmed in Canada
Shut your dirty mouth you dirty wog. Canada has its own TV. Not much of it, but it does.
> Trudeau
> Nickleback
> Drake
> Hawaiian Pizza
Canada has great TV shows. Not as much as we used to, but still.
I pity anyone who never watched this shit as a kid youtube.com
Justin Bieber is canadian
>Also is Drake the most popular person in Canada besides Trudeau?
What the fuck makes you think Trudeau is popular with anyone other than college kids and women?
And no, no one gives a shit about Drake. Didn't even know he was Canadian until recently
>off the air for 25 years
You're lucky you got Trailer Park Boys.
they must have 30% of canadian content?
how would that work? do tv channels stop broadcasting at night or do you only have 1 channel besides the news? or does that 30% include the news?
why don't they just broadcast 2 brit shows then 2 yank shows? thats canadian culture anyway, 2 part brit 2 part yank and 1 part frog
I'm happy you care enough to learn about Canada.
If a channel airs ten shows, three of them must be canadian. Same with radio. How is that complicated?
So who is the most popular person in Canada? Is it an american?
always watch HNIC
refuse to watch NBC
33.333% of actors in Hollywood are Canucks anyway, so fuck you fucker.
the only thing i know about canadian tv i knew from "south park"
>most popular person in Canada?
Popular how? That's a fucking impossible question to answer.
If we are talking about cult icons, everyone knows about and to some degree admires Terry Fox (but mostly because it's shoved down our throats in school)
>Jim Carrey is fucking canadian
What the ACTUAL fuck?
Quality wholesome Canadian TV
Hollywood is actually run by Canadians, not Jews.
If all our talents didn't head south, Canada would have the world's media capital.
>Ryan Gosling
>Michael J. Fox
>William Shatner
>Mike Myers
>Ryan Reynolds
>Seth Rogen
>Dan Aykroyd
>Michael Cera
>Donald Sutherland
>Kiefer Sutherland
>Hayden Christensen
>Keanu Reeves
>Brendan Fraser
It's a Canadian world, you're just living in it.
Inshallah.
It's a thing, but they mostly have US stuff
Look up Kenny VS Spenny.
We kind of are a media capital. Toronto and Vancouver are huge media powerhouses. Just no one knows.
>Just no one knows.
That's Canada in a nutshell. No one knows fucking anything about us besides memes, even though we are pretty important in many regards
Hell no, they got some good stuff of their own
Trailer park boys
CFL
Hockey
A few cartoons (chilly beach was retardedly good in middleschool)
CNC(Canadian BBC)
Are you afraid of the dark
Degratzi (that highschool drama show)
You can't do that on television
Lost girl
And of course, The muthafuckin' Red Green Show
Source: I'm from Michigan, I got half their channels from my rabbit ears
>even though we are pretty important in many regards
Why do you lie to yourself?
>tfw grew up on all those great Canadian cartoons
>tfw kids these days grow up on American trash like iCarly
>Kiefer Sutherland
Didn't know this
>even though we are pretty important in many regards
Providing content for the CW isn't important, Bryan
Canadian moves:
Mean girls
good will hunting
rambo
billy madison
american psycho
x files
fantastic four
harold and kumar go to white castle
twilight
get rich or die trying
brokeback mountain
catch me if you can
finding forrester
chicago
hot tub time machine
blades of glory
half baked
Happy Gilmore
Rocky
and many many many more
The fact that Canadian cities are willing to close down streets for movie shoots makes us cucks. It's not something to take pride in. It was annoying as hell when they shot the new Robocop at my school.
>billy madison
>american psycho
>fantastic four
>harold and kumar go to white castle

gina is bae
>his high school gf didn't force him to watch Degrassi
>he didn't get regular pussy for watching all 50 gorillion seasons and spinoffs
>he didn't get to experience Drake as an oreo nigga in a wheelchair before Drake became super famous
I hope you believe in reincarnation so you can kill yourself and try again
>hating surrealist art
my Wodan...
Every likeable moviestar is Canadian.
>Every likeable moviestar is Canadian.
They're all American in heart if not in name
Canada is the birthplace of How It's Made, you're welcome world
Yes we have our own shows and stations but mostly we watch American and Brit shows. We had some hits in the 90s and 00s but now it is mostly shit. Showcase, Comedy Network and YTV were god tier. CBC is shit now except Hockey Night.
/thread
Who wants to be American?
>you want to be North Korean user?
fuck off and enjoy your reality shows.
did anyone here watch degrassi the next generation. good show
there's a lot of Canadian media now, much more than 20/30 years ago, mostly because of money going to Canadian creators. some of it is good and some isn't but in general I think its pretty decent considering the size of the country.
I know animated shows from Canada get shown all over, and there's other stuff since every channel needs Canadian programming.
I like it because its usually more ambitious than American shows, though also there is more shit for the same reason. American TV is decidedly average with few extremes.
Any good movies about Canada pre-WWII? (or movies actually produced in that era?)
I ask this question a lot and I never get any replies.
I really do love kids in the hall.
Still the greatest theme music if all time too
>Who wants to be American?
A lot of people apparently
That actually pretty well describes our TV, some Brit, some Yank, some Canuck.
Canada is about as culturally distinct from the U.S. as the South would be if they had won their independence.
All from poor as fuck countries.
Apparently the NFB is pretty well regarded among filmakers. Lots of great documentaries there. Thanks to John Grierson for helping us found that.
Murdoch Mysteries of you want a TV show
Anne of Green Gables
49th Parallel
The Grey Fox
Iron Road
Paschendale is a decent film about Canadians in WWI.
Passchendaele?
desu the NFB and our general support for local talent is my favorite thing about this country, I wish more countries would pursue a degree of cultural protectionism like this.
>turn on CBC
>this shit starts playing
Depends on where in Canada desu. The majority is "America Lite: Now With 40% More Maple Moose Hockey."
Quebec and the Maritimes are quite a bit different and unique.
>Grey Fox
>4.8 million 1st gen Euro immigrants currently in the US not counting those here on a permenant work or residency visa
Ok negro
That's fine ignore Inuvik and the "real Canada" up North. Damn Yanks.
4.7 million of which are Russian/Latvian/Ukranian mail order brides and their familes.
"No."
"Shart"
What are they? Pooland? Or other kanker from the east.
Territories don't count as real places desu.
Western and Eastern Europeans
"Leaf"
the Grey Fox is great desu
like a better version of the Untouchables
You from the Maritimes? What province?
the best people from the worst countries isnt a bad thing, youve heard of brain drain right?
we get a third world country's worth of smart people every year, its why our own home generation can be retarded and lazy while still living in the comfiest of powerful countries
Thanks for the recs, Canegroes.
Any good slice of life stuff?
I've seen TPB (muh Maritimes) and Corner Gas (muh Prairies).
How about movies/shows set in Quebec or Newfoundland?
so what do you guys think of the Netflix Trailer Park Boys. it's shit since Clattenburg left.
New Brunswick, you?
Yes.
Well at least here in Quebec we have our own television ( of course ) with our own tv shows, our own movies (which are more famous than Canadian ones lol) and our own series. Dubbed series are American ones. I couldnt name a single Canadian tv show.
Don't include those Manitoba and Ontario fags in the US designation. Too good for them.
lol
Nobody wants to live in turbo capitalism.
NOBODY
Only brown people do.
Newfoundland: Republic of Doyle
Quebec: Bon Cop, Bad Cop
Just read the wiki for it, sounds interesting
Keep telling yourself that m8

You are Canadian, you voted to remain in Canada, and all of "your shows (which most of them are just French re-makes of American/Anglo Canadian ones) are funded with Canadian tax dollars
Sounds like jelly to me
>TPB
>Kids in the Hall
>Corner Gas
>Royal Canadian Air Farce
>Red Green Show
all gud
wew lads St. John's up in this waddup
We still have the autumn leaf crowds to look forward to.
>Well at least here in Quebec we have our own television ( of course ) with our own tv shows
>I couldnt name a single Canadian tv show.
one of these is a lie, and judging from your lack of naming a single "french canadian" show is kinda pointing to the former
wew lads
it's quite the conundrum, isnt it
