Fuck off, moron.
all these buzzwords. so it's just bandwagon hatred/fitting in?
>t. jealous poorfag
They really are.
For 1.7k you can have a top of the line, 27”, 5k monitor, along with a solid computer to go with it, premium components, Keyboard, mouse speaker etc.
Along with that you get the Apple ecosystem, all your photos, videos and music seamlessly streaming across all devices.
If you tried build a comparable PC and replaced 5k with 4K (actually replacing 5120 with 3840) it would cost the same, and if you still used 5k it would be much more expensive.
My next desktop will probably be an iMac.
>Apple ecosystem
To be fair, Windows has something similar, OneDrive.
Do you even know who the CEO of apple is?
>inb4 fedora
Who cares? The CEO of microsoft is literally a pajeet.
>for 1.7k
>top of the line
$2300 is the top of the line. 1.7k is the base model.
>choosing between a Pajeet and and a Mongol as your OS
I will only use MacOs, the straight white male only true choice
Here's an appetizer:
Overpriced
Overheating & throttling
Weird keybindings for copy/cut/paste
Clicking icon in dock doesn't minimize it
Xing out doesn't close the program
In file explorer, pressing enter doesn't open the file
In file explorer, delete doesn't delete or move a file to trash
Multiple monitors support is trash
- menubar doesn't extend to other monitors
- different backgrounds on each monitor in the same workspace
Windows-esqe ' installing updates, please wait'
Filesystem isn't case sensitive
Lol no ports. Dongles everywhere
Apple is a fashion and design company.
They just custom-order their parts to fit their designs and put form before function. They've been doing this for years. Also huge profit margins, you're basically paying for overpriced "designer" shit and your money are going to their shareholders, towards their next yacht.
>In file explorer, pressing enter doesn't open the file
>In file explorer, delete doesn't delete or move a file to trash
What the fuck
>Overpriced
debatable, but valid concern if the machine comes with more than you want or need.
>Overheating and throttling
What do you have to do in order to trigger this? I don't know anyone who owns a mac with this problem.
>Clicking icon in dock doesn't minimize it
That's an operating system specific issue; for starters, you can install any operating system you want on a mac, but this is hardly a deal breaker. Operating systems all have their differences.
>Weird keybindings for copy/cut/paste
Not weird, just different from what you're used to. A mac user would say the same thing moving to Windows.
>In file explorer, delete doesn't delete or move to trash
Then what does it do?
>Lol no ports. Dongles everywhere
Isn't that just the newest mbp?
Yeah but for the same price or less you could get...
*posts link to a PC made from vastly inferior components*
macfags BTFO
This! FUCK CORPORATIONS AND FUCK THE RICH.
I said top of the line monitor.
I have windows and one drive .
Does it actually do anything? I’ve never found it useful. Compared to iCloud on my iPad and iPhone where all the photos are just nicely synced
kek
don't forget that the case is huge, bulky, ugly as fuck, and takes up way too much room. and is usually designed to look like an autistic spaceship.
Yeah, for example when I got a new windows laptop, all the photos I saved on my windows desktop were on my laptop too
Why do mactoddlers have an irrational worship of macs? They're objectively trash.
>doesn't jump on mac hate bandwagon
>OMG WHY YOU WORSHIP MAC
This is what I'm talking about. It's irrational. It's blind hatred. It's autistic.
>doesn't jump on mac worship bandwagon
>OMG WHY YOU HAET MAC
This is what I'm talking about. It's irrational. It's blind worship. It's autistic.
>mactoddlers
You're being childish.
i don't like apple's products lately either but you just come off like some homo from Sup Forums. fuck off idiot
Enter renames the file. Delete does nothing. Command + delete moves to trash
I'm a software developer, I have to use a 2017 macbook pro at work. Compiling projects will cause heatup and throttling.
>Keybindings are just different
Literally every OS/de use CTRL + c/x/v
>Just don't use Apple's shitty OS
What's the point of a Mac then? A Windows ultrabookbis cheaper, has better specs, is lighter, has more connectivity options, and better battery life
>Dongles are fine
So not being able connect an external keyboard, mouse, display, flash drive, SD card, etc is ok? That is most definitely not ok
my main machine is a 2010 mbp.
it is fine.
may replace a fan & the hdd with a ssd.
But iMacs look ugly.
>t. macautist
>dongles are fine
I literally never said that, I asked if it was just the latest mbp
See pic related
If you were to build this excluding the screen and OS it would cost $1522
If you go 5k like the iMac, you need to pay 1.3k for the screen so it’s 2.8k total.
Otherwise it’ll cost about 2k total.
Seems like a good deal to me considering you’re getting good build quality, good looking machine that doesn’t take up loads of space, macOS and a 5k display.
post a picture of your computer right fucking now. if it's some kind of neon glowing light gaymer case I swear to god I will fucking put a curse on you
Nothing he said was untrue. Build quality sucks after you get over the form which is nice. Thermal throttling is awful. The keyboards are getting worse than cheap windows alternatives. The screens are highly overrated. The price point puts then in competition with actual professional grade hardware which is uglier but much more performant. The one and only selling point left is the OS and the ecosystem both of which a Sup Forums user could replicate with either hackintosh or Linux.
Tl;dr: apple is anathema to everyone who likes cost effective performant hardware and dislikes form over function consumerism. The archetype of a consumerist is the big man soy male vain faggot so that is what apple users tend to be.
Mental illness.
Valid points, thanks for answering honestly.
>thermal throttling is awful
How much do iMacs throttle and in what circumstance
>screen is overrated
Why?
>the price point
See:
Yeah I'm unironically torn between this and building my own similar setup. I won't be doing much gaming so the imac would be just fine. What really gets me is the 5k display. It's really comfy, got to use it at a friend's house. Wonder if I can build my own similar 5k setup for cheaper. Haven't looked around much.

You look at the specs and you then look at the huge price mark-up just because it has an Apple logo emblazoned on it.
I'm not an Apple hater, I'm just not fucking stupid enough to buy one.
A lot of it comes from baby duck syndrome.
You grow up and spend most of your life on Windows. You feel comfortable. Some of your best memories using a computer are on Windows. So when someone uses something that isn't Windows, or even when something that isn't Windows just exists, you feel threatened. It's like someone's saying that you have bad taste. You're offended. You take it personally.
That was my experience. Hated macs all my life, but someone got me your pic related as a gift, and I actually like it. It's nice.
see
macs are terrible for professional applications: are too weak for use with Creative Cloud, you cant use CUDA because macs dont use Nvidia.
They are pretty average machines for multiple times the price. They have nice chassis though.
Fpbp
Because is a fashion product: macs are marketers with photography and photoshop, yes i like editing pictures with a Glossy screen, now in 5K !
Me too. I’m looking to upgrade to 4K or 5k including a new computer. Right now I’m using a self built 6 year old PC. It’s fine but the screen looks really pixelly (1929 x 1080) so I want a higher resolution.
If I want a 5k monitor I will end up paying more if I self build. If I am happy to sacrifice 5k and only have 4K, I will save 400 dollars by buying parts from several websites, waiting for them all to ship separately, hoping all the parts work, building the PC myself, hoping that works without issue. Then assuming that all goes, I have a big tower with a 4K monitor instead of a nice 5k all in one.
Work: Windows/PC
Gaming: Windows/PC
Media: Windows/PC
Servers: GNU/Linux
I wouldn't if they didn't market tablet tier build quality even for their "pro" line of stuff. Look at the absolute shit show that is their Macbook Pro. Or the Mac pro as in your picture. They pack in high end hardware sure. But then they sincerely skimp out on cooling so when you actually go to do any sort of real work, THROTTLING EVERYWHERE. You pay $5k minimum for their top end machines and have them fall on their faces when you go to do anything that isn't facebook or youtube.
What's the point of 5k resolution monitor? It will never be a standard, you might as well buy 8k one.
Why not get a 4K EIZO?
What does the 5K iMac do better other than the resolution?
So you can work on 4K content (photo/video editing) while leaving room for all your toolbars etc on the screen at the same time.
At least that's what people who own the 5K screen say. I know some people who bought the base model 5K mac pro just for the screen. They hooked it up to an actual workstation because the base model mac pro was cheaper than buying a standalone 5K from Dell.
I’m not familiar with EIZO, link?
>Just spend $1200 on new PC
>See mac around the same price with much MUCH shittier specs
>Not even a GPU
>1666MHz
>Overpriced
ThinkPad T Series and Dell XPS are similarly priced.
>Overheating & throttling
The 15" 2015 model with no discrete GPU doesn't have this problem. Other than that, it is a somewhat valid point.
>Weird keybindings for copy/cut/paste
I absolutely, positively got used to it.
>Clicking icon in dock doesn't minimize it
Design choice and also not hardware related.
>Xing out doesn't close the program
Design choice and also not hardware related.
>In file explorer, pressing enter doesn't open the file
Design choice and also not hardware related.
>In file explorer, delete doesn't delete or move a file to trash
Design choice and also not hardware related.
>Multiple monitors support is trash
I'm using 3 external 1080p monitors on my MBP just fine.
>- menubar doesn't extend to other monitors
>- different backgrounds on each monitor in the same workspace
>Windows-esqe ' installing updates, please wait'
Literally every OS, also not hardware related.
>Filesystem isn't case sensitive
Case sensitivity can be turned on, but I agree, it's fucking retarded that it's not the default.
>Lol no ports. Dongles everywhere
They said the same thing of the original iMac that only came with USB A ports. I hate Apple as much as the next Sup Forumstard, but forcing the move to USB-C is actually reasonable. Someone has to start it.
>not familiar with EIZO
This meme is stale, but is this the current state of Sup Forums?
>I-it's a feature
Really?
Also what does it matter if the issue is software based. You are still paying to have their shitty ass OS.
What monitor did you have on this new PC?
Your opinion is clearly shit, user.
Not him, but I'm sure it's not 8bit monitor.
The only terrible thing about OSX (aside from the fact that it's locked down as fuck) is its abysmal window manager. dwm is just lightyears ahead.
It's monitors for work.
Graphic design, medical and air traffic displays along with a line dedicated for generic office work (electricity saving, superior ergonomics).
Your opinion is shit.
They are really good. Build quality is excellent. Sup Forums hates them because it's mainstream and easy to use unlike gentoo linux and it makes us butthurt.
But being especially proprietary, you really have no control over the hardware. When they make poor design decisions (not rare) that fucks your shit after their joke warranty, it's not a good time. Which sucks.
>What do you have to do in order to trigger this? I don't know anyone who owns a mac with this problem.
Use it for something more demanding than facebook, something 98% of Apple fans will never do.
Sup Forums like to make things harder for themselves
So basically this: Main points are that some who have invested something into a computer prefer to have the freedom to be able to upgrade, modify and at worst troubleshoot the computer.
Being unable to do any of that due to proprietary hardware and that the whole thing is stuck together with glue/ adhesive strips just takes the piss.
And to point out the obvious if the computer goes wrong the only way for it to be repaired is to bring it to Apple or their slave wage AASPs.
Besides the lack of freedom to do much or anything with the hardware their computers are good as a simple all in one but will always have inferior performed to a decent custom built PC.
i hae been on win 95 win 98 win 2000 win xp win vista ubuntu ubuntu studio elementary win 7 ubuntu again win 7 again win 8 win 8.1 ubuntu yet again win 10. I'll keep win 10 on my netbook bc i cant remember how i made all the drivers work and im scared of losing all of them again if I fiddle around with it too much. meanwhile i have been more than a year on macos sierra and never has there been another year in my life where i havent had to think about my OS. Im not going back.
Yeah, I know all of this. But how can you even consider buying an iMac with some shoddy LG or Foxconn 8bit panel and not knowing about Eizo, NEC or even fucking Dell Ultrasharps?
...
tbqh, the machines and software are of good quality
it's just how the entire brand is usually associated with tech-illiterate people who like to follow fashion and trends
i only use windows because i've grown with it
fpbp
OSX is locked down in my opinion. It has a lot of great features being UNIX-based. It does well for the Arts (Music production, Graphic Design, Video Rendering etc.), but fails in most other categories. Lack of upgrading is a bummer really. I have to use a Mac for work sometimes and I do like using it, but for everyday use, it's just not for me. I don't have as much control and I have less options. Sure, less malware and exploits, but it just doesn't fit my needs.
>Giant bezel thin meme unserviceable all in one desktop with mobile GPU, throttles to shit anyway
>Wireless chiclet zero travel keyboard on a stationary device
>Unergonomic glossy slab mouse that can't be used while charging because some designer didn't want it to
>Charge premium prices despite being literal garbage all the way through
No idea OP.
It's because long time ago one guy did half assed 'MUH MICROKERNEL" implementation and because apple users are turbo gay normies and not loonix basement dwellers any number of small inconsistencies when redoing OS X from scratch or replacing it's truly shitty parts with better code would rally all hamsters. So all apple can do is keep polishing half turd.
...
>all these retards replying to literal shills
Just report and hide, dumbfucks.
Overpriced when you can get an equivalent machine for a lot less.
People who complain about lack of upgradability are morons. You can upgrade your Mac, just visit the Apple Store and buy a new one.

I'm looking to buy a new basic Mac Mini for $400.
Is that a good price?
Specs?
I NEED to buy a Mac for some classes I'm taking and I'm upset
because it looks nice? are you fucking retarded? sit a 4k monitor next to a 5k, the difference it pretty fucking dramatic.
Late 2014 model.
Intel Core i5 (1.4GHz),
4GB RAM,
500GB HDD
I don't do much online except, shitpost, watch milf porn, and trade stocks.
make a macintosh you sorry sack of shit
I have a Thinkpad X220 that I bought just for that, but you're not allowed in if you don't have a fully functioning system.
The thing about macs is that they're absolutely despised by people who've never owned them, yet loved by people who actually have owned them. It's just one of those things where poor people get angry and jealous and full of hate.
>implying you can tell the difference
if you're blind, you won't be able to tell the difference. for everyone else, the choice is obvious. It's why the sit the 4k imacs right next to the 5k imacs in stores. Because they want the 5k to look much better by comparison.

Is $400 supposed to be a lot of money? I don't really deal with poor people that much, so I don't know.
I've owned a mac. Worst decision i've ever made. Slow, loaded with useless programs, etc etc. cant run .exe files, etc. etc. No reason to be jealous, cause they're shit.
sure you have.
>can't run .exe files
Are you retarded? This is like getting angry at a playstation because it can't run xbox games. Holy fuck.
Winfags are literally dumber than macfags. Every time a mouth-breathing wintard opens its mouth I'm even more convinced that winfags are the niggers of the tech world.
lmao mactoddler, nobody said anything about it being a lot of money, you're just getting a shit machine when at $400 you could get a substantially better machine. stop projecting so hard, you sound even dumber
>can't run .exe files
user, exactly how old are you, and how new to computers are you? Do you know what a .exe file is?
>you're just blind
my 4k 10-bit color IPS will look way better than that 5k imac shit is just a fake ass 8-bit IPS panel.
Colors are garbage
lol
>cant run .exe files
yeah, this post is believable.
