Samsung, OnePlus etc all have their own facial recognition software. They were happy to pedal them out without putting much development into them, not caring that they weren’t that good and were insecure.

Apple could have done the same, saving money and letting them put out a cheaper phone. Instead they really perfected faceID and released something that just destroys the competition. I am using faceID now and it just works really well. There is no question that this is better than touchID. Just a few comparisons with Samsung’s facial recognition:

FaceID uses IR to create a 3D map of your face, Samsung just looks at a picture.
Samsung can be fooled by a photograph, faceID can’t
FaceID works from several angles, Samsung can require you to position it better
FaceID works in the dark, Samsung doesn’t

Apple literally needed to develop another biometric password method because of the phone's design, thats why it's developed so much, because its THE ONLY METHOD of biometrics. Meanwhile at Samsung they don't care for facial recognition and just settled for an iris scanner since they still have a fingerprint reader.

You are confusing iris scanner (which samsung has) with facial recognition.

Everything I said is true of facial recognition.

Iris scanner is more secure, but can be damaging for the eyes. Personally I wouldn’t touch Iris scanner for that reason.

While FaceID sends dots all around your face, the Iris scanner sends a focused beam at your eyes.

Just google "FaceID hurts eyes" and "Iris scanner hurts" eyes. That should tell you all you need.

So assuming you're not willing to risk your health for the sake of unlocking your phone more securely, you're left with an insecure facial recognition which can be unlocked by a photograph, or an inconveniently placed fingerprint sensor.

The health risk is still very low regardless of how you receive IR radiation. A lightbulb emits more IR than the scanners and we are exposed to sunlight (a heavy dosage of IR) everyday.
I mean sure Iris scanners can hurt your eyes if you unlock your phone 30 times an hour every hour but we are only exposed to it for half a second at a time so it really comes down to how much you actually use your phone. At that point you should be considering how the phone's display is affecting your eyes since that is the major component of eye strain.

The iPhone X is the best phone. It has the best display and processor, the best unlock feature. Its camera is better than the Note8 but worse than the Pixel.

The last time I've used iOS on an iPhone was the iPhone 3gs. I did buy an iPad Pro last year but it's driving me up the wall that I can't change safari to chrome or that there's no proper file browser to let me chose things in safari (other than images) when uploading something, or how there's no webm support yet.

I haven't used my iPad pro in a year, so the file browser stuff might have changed? But I guess that there's still no webm support yet.

it does have a file browser now but im not sure if it does exactly what you need. Still no webms though.

It does look beautiful and it feels even better. Really feels like a premium phone. It's that bit heavier, together with the stainless steel and the glass. really feels 10/10 to hold and use.
