What will you do when Windows 7 dies?

Granted we all use Ganooh/Linucks here i actually run a dual boot. Windows 7 is the definitive version of Windows. What will you guys do when support is cut off in 2020? Keep using it or bend over for Winblows 20?

keep using it.
Win 7 Ultimate.

The exact same thing I did for XP.
When another version will be better, I'll change.

Maybe W10 will be better than 7 one day.

7 in a VM with PCI-E pass-through for video games
fuck you Microsoft

gaymen pc will be a glorified console

linux will be a porn window.

Hope for reactOS

I hope microsoft will release new windows until 2020.

And this new windows will be just windows without telemetry shit or additional shit like cortana. And updates limited to security patches and bugfixes.

Or at least i hope microsoft will let me buy windows 10 ltsb licence for my private PC.

>tfw i fell for directx12 meme
fucking end me, and i can't install 7 because i don't have enough space to backup my stuff.
every fucking week i have to deal with a some shitty windows 10 service causing high cpu or disk usage
and when i finally find a solution new problems start appearing.

did you install windows 7 on a uefi motherboard? that's why i switched to windows 10

I'm currently on LTSB, which suffices.
I love 7 but I just can't justify losing driver compatibility, hardware compatibility and performance.

>And this new windows will be just windows without telemetry shit or additional shit like cortana. And updates limited to security patches and bugfixes.
wouldn't that be the dream
unfortunately you and I both know in our hearts that microsoft will never ever do this

If they did that then no one would use the OS they want them to use, which is the bloated mess we currently have.

Let's be real here, 7 still has more market share, and while that is still inherently a bloated mess by virtue of being made by Microsoft, it's not as bad as what came after.

Well microsoft then risks he will lose many of windows users at 2020.

Because anybody who tolerate windows 10 as it is, already stay on windows 10 thanks to free upgrade. But there is majority of windows 7 users who dislike windows 10 in form it is, and part of these people will find alternative in linux or react os or anything else.

If microsoft wants to keep these people they need to make "nonshit" version of windows 10. They still can leave windows store so they dont lose much.

they won't lose any windows users they will simply get a lot of windows users who are using unsupported versions of windows

where can I buy pic related

Well this situation can happen to. But then, all you need is some new malware, some good narration and bam you can make big hit to microsoft reputation.
Flr example "After many of windows 7 computers attacks made by [Some new malvare] we need to ask question, does microsoft just gave ultimatum to users who dont like windows 10 so they have to choose, or they start to use windows 10 or they will be left by themselves aganist malvare"

You all remember microsoft released patch for windows XP(long after end of its extended support) its because to repair their reputation.

People are not going to just stop playing video games because Microsoft fails to support older Operating Systems.
They will be forced to switch, whether they like it or not.

You mean like when XP got hit by WannaCry earlier this year? And they patched it?

SOMEONE FUCKING REVERSE ENGINEER IT ALREADY

b-but we have linux..

I stayed on XP until I was basically forced to upgrade because newer vidya needed newer directX, or just had no XP support at all.

Ill probably do the same with Windows 7. Ill jump to Windows 13 when all vidya forces the use of the newest OS and directx.

video games won't be worth playing at that point

>tfw korora doesnt have amd support
is there any other sexy distro that exists like korora

Using win10 because nodriversupport tm

Linux is still more of a pain in the ass to configure and maintain than debotnetting windows.

Windows 7 works perfectly fine on my Z87 board. You can install it on Kaby Lake and Ryzen as well. Stop being a brainlet.

>debotnetting windows. (10)

Keep using it or install ReactOS

But 10 is better.

looks promising actually
but it'll be a while till they build up to Win 7

They just releae 0.4.7 It now supports more partition formats than windows;)
Ext4, ext3 ,ect.
Try it out in a vm

Been using Linux Mint since Windows 8. In fact I'm 100% Microsoft free and it feels awesome.

>Linux is still more of a pain in the ass to configure
You're clearly doing it wrong.

No activation needed, ever.
Always the Ultimate/Professional version.
No bloatware.
No IE or whatever the new browser is called (yes, it's a feature).
(A LOT) Less malware and more secure.
Easy to upgrade to major versions.
You can still run Windows in a VM if you must.

My rx550 refused to work in linux mint

>What will you guys do when support is cut off in 2020?

Install freeDos

Keep using Windows 7. Just because support ends doesn't magically make my OS stop working. And as far as games go, as long as as games are supporting Vulkan, I won't need to upgrade.

Google?

>I was too dumb to install the AMD proprietary drivers for my card on Babby's Second Loonix

ftfy.

What hypervisor did you use?

Better start donating to it, shilling it, testing it and/or helping with the code. If you just waitâ„¢ ReactOS will take a decade to reach windows 7 compatibility. It's currently targeting XP compatibility and is still in alpha. This means by the time windows 7 reaches end of support ReactOS will still not be XP compatible, let alone w7 compatible.

Keep using it until magical net-AIDS figures out how to penetrate a firewall.

I still use Winamp and that's been dead for years

Why not just move all your data to a separate partition?

I didn't have to dual boot before some faggot at our school decided that we have to use labview

What's wrong with Windows 10 again?

>Collects too much data about you (Telemetry).
>Bad perfoirmance
>Filled with many useless shit (What also negatively affects perfomance)
>Telemetry also takes some of your PC resources (Like procesor or ram)
>Bigger updates can make windows 10 unstable and can fuck up some programs what worked BEFORE update.

Honestly I'll just use Windows 10. As you said, I also dual-boot, and I only use Windows for specific programs that literally have no free alternatives. So any kind of spying or whatever won't even be an issue if I only use it for those few specific programs.

They either have to come out with a better product or I'll just drop out. A Windows 8.1 passthrough GPU option is doable. Windows is only good for video editing software and video games to me.

I don't like the aesthetic. I like my windows 7 and Windows 7 classic theme.

I work at a medical office. Literally everyone refuses to use the new windows 10 machines, ended up returning them. They would rather use laptops from 2008 than upgrade.

Never gave a fuck abouti updating it past sp1, and I'm using it since it came out with no problems

It just werks

I'm still using Win XP. I'm thinking eventually I'll get a chromebook for web browsing and continue using the Win XP machine for everything else. For me "everything else" is primarily note taking with WordPad.

hyper v :^)

>microsoft
>industry laughing stock after being pwned by viruses repeatedly for 30 years
>fuck no, this time it will be different
>institute intensive monitoring so you can quickly find and fix critical bugs and improve the user experience
>users revolt and stop using your OS
Poor Micro$oft, they just can't catch a break.

I'd have no quarrel with upgrading to W10 if they didn't have all those anti-privacy measures packed in.

I'll just keep using 7. I think I'll get forced into 10 for new gayming eventually. When that happens I'm dropping wandoz into a VM running some Linux hypervisor. That way I can keep 7 running for 10+ years and bottle up the windows 10 retardation.

windows 10 ltsb is perfect.

LTSB 2019

Used win 10 for a year until a shitty update screwed one of my partitions. Switched back to 7 and will probably use it until something better than 10 comes out. Or maybe i'll switch to linux. It's not a big deal.

Hackintosh,

Win10 LTSB, though I only get on that partition for the rare game that won't run in Wine. It's like a warzone in there with all the updates and shit... But I'll keep Win7 on my VM because whatcha gonna do bout it MS.

XP is not dead yet,POS will receive updates till 2019.

Ubuntu

my 98SE still acess some weeb pages, when 7 dies ill install 2k

Win 10 Enterprise LTSB 2019.

If Microshit fucks up LTSB 2019 then macOS.

True words.
ReactOS never got the support it deserves

How the fuck do so many people have endless problems with Windows 10?

Default configuration on a fresh install is absolutely shit, everyone knows that. It's really easy to fix though.

I installed W10 Enterprise-N, activated with autokms, added the necessary codecs, filtered through every single menu in Win10 disabling and correcting things, then fired up the group policy editor and fixed the rest.

I haven't had a single issue in over a year. No automatic updates, no mysterious resource drains, no unwanted features, no activation problems, nothing. Meanwhile, my roommate who (supposedly) followed my instructions has constant problems with being cucked by updates and his activation failing. My wife who is a fucking software developer also (supposedly) followed my instructions and has problems with W10 too.

Is everyone just a fucking brainlet but me?

>ReactOS never got the support it deserves
Or maybe it just did.

>Maybe W10 will be better than 7 one day.
HAHAHAHAHA
>Botnet

I tried out LTSB 2016 for about 6 months, just went back to 7 recently, LTSB is the least shit version, but still shit. I'm really hoping some major non-tech companies who rely on a lot of machines as "appliances" and don't care about upgrading as long as they still work, like banks or whoever is (((merchantile))) enough to strong-arm michaelsoft into extending support for 7 until at least 2025 or later.

Ryzen running Windows7 here. Have Wufuc installed but cant install december security rollup. Getting error message.

What do? Everyone else got this Problem?

Continue to run Debian and OpenBSD

Nah, the rest of us just don't bother with Windows 10

not gonna lie bros, ReactOS looks comfy as fuck...

Run windows 7 or similar on a VM using headless pci passthrough for muh gaymz

Headless pci passthrough will be finished in about 3-4 months on Linux

This has been my setup for years, it's pretty comfy.

this

>Headless pci passtrough

Please tell more.

Basically, it's just a new way of passing through your GPU to a VM without the need to display it on an extra monitor, or a different monitor input with very little latency.

W10 has been better than 7 for over a year, dickface.

Keep using mac.

Better at collecting your private data and relaying it to Microsoft?

windows 10 is pretty good. I got it for free so I can't be mad of windows collecting all my info.

WindowsPOSReady 7

Extended support ends on October 12, 2021

8.1 gets updates until 2023, doesn't it?

based on what standard?

i like the flat interface but that is the only improvement

7 can be customized much easier, and it lets you get under the hood pretty easily

10 baby proofs the pc, which is good in some respects, but irritating for power users

i use 10 at work and 7 at home

there is nothing i can't do on my home pc that i can do at work

the performance on 10 is worse in a ton of instances due to the constant telemetry and my 7 pc has lower specs and a quarter of the RAM

network drive performance of 10 is atrocious, a serious bummer working off network files

DX12 titles are literally zero incentive to upgrade

intel has offered me no compelling upgrade for my 4790K

i will stop using 7 when you pry it from my cold dead hands

By 2020, Ganoo Linux will be viable for gaymen shit. Vulkan has already made massive gains and - assuming it even matter by then - DX12 will eventually be supported on Wine.

Wine, playonlinux, no?

It's sysV. If it keeps running my games and necessary software for uni (packet tracer, VS enterprise and Visio mainly atm) then I'll keep using it.

I've almost got to grips with setting up Debian+i3 without any DE, so by 2020 I won't need Windows for anything but uni stuff and games (both of which can be done in with Windows 10 without being too much of a good goy)

I'm hoping GPU passthrough becomes less shit to set up and receives some support (I assume when more people have hardware that supports it, since that is only since devils canyon)

ritual seppeku

i just want an OS with the GUI of win9x. it was minimalist, so there was no unneeded bullshit, but it was still charming and pleasant to look at

I like my modified windows classic within 7 user.

idk keep using debian

unless im doing c# dev i can do everything I need to on debian since I live my life in a browser / jetbrains software

This looks good but it only takes support for it to die and then we're fucked

yeah, but then you still got the win7 icons, and when combined with winclassic it just looks dumb.

Damn, I want windows 95 beer.

I wish Microsoft, Apple, and Google weren't the villains in this scenario. If they'd just make their operating systems FOSS so the community could get legacy software working on GNU/Linux and BSD, it'd make the world a better place over night.
