If you want help:
>State the budget & CURRENCY for your build
>List your uses, e.g. Gaming, Video Editing, VM Work
>For monitors, include purpose (e.g., photoediting, gaming) and graphics card pairing (if applicable)

CPUs:
>NO i5 7500/7600K or i7 7700/K. THEY ARE DEFUNCT AND SUPERSEDED BY COFFEE LAKE
>G4560/G4600 for non-gaming (light tasks) or bare minimum gaming builds with a dedicated graphics card
>R3 1200 - Budget builds (best with OC + fast RAM)
>R5 1600 / i5 8400 - Great gaming (especially the i5 8400) or multithreaded use CPUs (especially the R5 1600)
>R7 / Used Xeon / Threadripper / i7 - Heavy Multi-Tasking / VM Work / Mixed use

RAM:
>Current CPUs benefit from high speed RAM; 3000-3200 MHz is ideal
>Before buying RAM for Ryzen, check your Mobo's QVL or look for user reports

Graphics cards:
>Consider Vega 56 for a Freesync monitor
>Crypto-Currency miners have driven GPU prices up (particularly Radeon)
1080p
>GTX 1050Ti and 3GB 1060 are the only reasonably priced cards; 6GB 1060 or 4GB 580 if you want to overpay a little
>GTX 1070 if you're looking for very high (100+) framerates and you have a CPU and monitor to match
1440p
>GTX 1070/Ti and 1080 are standard choices; currently overpriced
>GTX 1080Ti if you're looking for very high (100+) framerates and you have a CPU and monitor to match
2160p (4K)
>GTX 1080Ti

General:
>PLAN YOUR BUILD AROUND YOUR MONITOR IF GAMING

does anyone have any experience with KFA2 brand GPUs, are they good?

please help me stop using my macbook

>$800 budget (includes monitor)
>just want to play bideo games again

Since pcpartpicker doesn't have half the shit I'm buying:

I need (and I mean need) PC right now, can't wait for another couple of months to get some more money, so I decided to get myself a nice base and just put better cpu and ram in 3 or 4 months. Usage is light gaymen, sql server and visual studio, I have 2 1080p 60hz monitors:

i3-8100 with stock cooler (plan to upgrade to 8700k with noctua later)
2x4GB of Goodram 2400 Ram (upgrade with CPU to 2x8 3200)
Asus Z370-I
Lian Li Q39 case
Seasonic PSU (either Focus Plus 550W Plat or 650W Prime Ultra Tit if i have some extra cash)
Asus Strix 1050TI
Goodram 480GB Iridium Pro ssd (shit looks good, and it's MLC AND it's not so expensive)

Any thoughts?

>tight budget
>Lian Li

Okay, so this is the setup that I had recommended to me for my workload, and I added fans and a case. Is there any extra hardware or cabling I will need to make everything here work properly, fans included? I don't know how to tell if all of my USB ports will be operational or not.

Got an old Inspiron 560 Dell with an E5400 processor sitting around. Would sticking a lower end gpu like a 1030 be worth it for some super low power gaming? My laptop isn't cutting it.
Psu is only rated for 160, would that be enough for a pcie powered gpu?

What's your laptop?

T520 with an i5.

Hi Sup Forums , I have a few questions about the differences b/w parts.

1. What are the differences b/w the FX-8350 and the Ryzen 1200? They seem to be similar in price, but I usually see the 1200 recommended.

2. Is it worth it to get a m2 pcie ssd? I'm currently looking at m2 sata 3.

3. MSI/EVGA/PNY/ASUS for 1060 3 GB?

4. Does Ryzen 1200 need a non stock hsf?

5. Is Rosewill - N900PCE PCI-Express x1 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi Adapter good enough for 100 mb connection kinda far from router?

Any idea when Nvidia cards will come back down in price? Can only afford $300-350 or so for my GPU currently but I would kms if I got a 1060 and the 1070s dropped a month later.

I was told in here like 2 weeks ago to wait, because 1060s are currently overpriced but I don't want to wait until mid 2018 to build my PC.

>What are the differences b/w the FX-8350 and the Ryzen 1200?
FX8350 has slightly better performance in some paralellized tasks, is much slower in many others and eats up almost 3 times the power
And AM3+ is a pretty old platform

How much RAM? I assume the 560 is 4GB.

Does anyone know of a good motherboard review site? Something like jonnyguru but for mb's. Mainly looking for in depth vrm/mosfet information.

Ryzen 1200 comes with pretty damn good cooler.

Dude, why the fuck are you spending that much on a case? Get a fractal or a corsair 270

8gb in the t520, 4 in the Dell. I could probably grab some dd3 ram used locally for cheap for cheap

I need an x370 mobo i was looking between Asus prime x370 pro , gigabyte k5 and msi gaming pro which should I get? Advices to other mobo are equally useful

Have you opened the Dell? My 570 is 4x1GB. Honestly you're better off just sticking to the laptop until you can build a real PC.

Glossy or matte screen and why?

>pc thats barely three months old no longer turns on
>checked ram, connections, and whatnot
I hate my life

I just finished building this on Saturday. My first time doing it, how does it look?

Best GPU to pair with two 1920x1080 144 hz monitors?

Mainly play fps like overwatch, cod, battlefield etc. Not too fussed about ultra settings, would prioritize high frames over max graphics.

Rate this PC build.

The motherboard, RAM and case all have slight Christmas discount in place but only few mobos left of the ASUS so I gotta buy this today if I am to, seeing other Z370 chip mobos start from 140€ and up.
Gonna be my gaming/streaming/editing PC for next four, five years again like my current PC has served me. Buying a new GPU next black friday as my current GTX 960 still plays fine visually till then.

Or should I go with this bundle?
Value wise it's 120€ more expensive but gives 8700K and slightly better motherboard.

I don't think I'm gonna go with i3 8350K or i5 8400, seeing for future purposes I want that slight fps gain secured now and not upgrade earlier now that I'm finally buying a new PC after all.

get faster ram ideally
personally wouldnt recommend an i5 but if it fits your needs its fine, get a delidding kit and some liquid metal if youre going to overclock

Z370 + i3 8100, 1050ti, 8GB DDR4 2400mhz, SSD 256GB, good PSU, standard case.

I can have all of this for 600€ or so. Worth it?

Read OP

>my workload
You mean games? Only buy that graphics card if you have a really nice monitor

>What are the differences b/w the FX-8350 and the Ryzen 1200?
Don't buy any Bulldozer CPU (includes FX, Athlon, and any current AM4 APU)

Enable XMP in BIOS unless you bought slow RAM, in which case manually OC

If you're only playing on one monitor a 1070 will be more than sufficient for any AAA shooter. Can get away with a 1060

i5 8600K isn't really a streaming or editing CPU

My GTX 1070 is a KFA2, have had it for half a year now, it works well. The advantage here in my country (and perhaps in Europe in general as well) is that KFA2 generally has the lowest prices.
My 1070 has a bug when the fans are at 0% though, where they make some clicking sound, so I have to set the fans to turn very slowly at all time to avoid this, but it's hardly a problem considering most GPU fans are never completely turn off normally anyway.

I bought a 1050 ti from them for another build, a tiny one, and it's a bit noisy to be honest, and you can't even make the fan speed go lower than 40%. But otherwise it works.
What do you have in mind?

Get that if you're editing and streaming

RAM prices are insane though past that one.

jimms.fi/fi/Product/Show/115204/f4-3200c16d-16gvkb/g-skill-16gb-2x8gb-ripjaws-v-ddr4-3200mhz-cl16

This is the next seemingly good RAM to me and it's 229€ and all the others are 229€ as well if not more expensive. Is it really that big of a difference? Then again I guess once you buy a good RAM, that's less to think about in the future too and it's only a bit of a pain to pay more once.

that's why i said ideally
if it's like that then dont, you dont need it for intel
likewise if you dont buy fast ram ignore my advice about not buying intel (although do get a delid kit)

not sure whether to ask here or /sqt/ but fuck it

anyone know the highest capacity 2.5" 9.5mm drive there is? looking to upgrade the storage drive in my thinkpad, and the 4tb ones wont fit due to being 15mm

Then what is 8600K good for? I mean I might as well go for it over 8400 since it's just 60€ difference and CPU's is such a long time investment anyways. It's why I'm even considering 8700K but it's getting a bit too pricey there for me, seeing I want to buy a drawing tablet soon too.

Oh? Well shit.

Yeah, not really into OC'ing, maybe in few years of time I might but I don't wanna think about it before that.

No, I mean 3D animation, streaming, and longform video editing. (And gaming) I have 3 extremely good monitors.

>not really into OC'ing
then dont get a K series, just get the 8400

This ryzen 1600 stock cooler. God, man. It easily keeps 3.8ghz oc under 65c, never getting hotter. And it is also quiet. And it fucking looks good.
And the best part - ryzen 1600 is dirt cheap, and mobos cost like a video game.
Is there even a point in buying a cpu cooler now?

Amd really did their best this time. I am extremely satisfied with this. Gonna upgrade to ryzen 2 next.
Just why can't they give vegas good stock cooler?

>streaming, and longform video editing
get ryzen

>good PSU
which one
>Z370 + i3 8100
why

Is the RX 550 good for upgrading an Optiplex? I just want to play f2p games (paladins, tera, warframe, eve online) on the lowest settings in 1080p. Under $100 and slot power only is what I need.

Oh jaysus. This is getting silly for me.

600W Corsair Gold
Doesn't answer the question. It's all together, new.

i was looking at KFA2 GTX1060 3GB version for 235€, don't know if that's a good price or not.

Is it a bundle or someone's old PC or what? I don't understand why an i3 is being put together with a Z370. Which Z370 is it?

Where are you from?
To me it looks like a rip off since I remember seeing KFA2 1060 6GB @ 200€ last summer... but here again prices have gone stupid since. I also don't like the 3GB version of the 1060.

Only GPU I recommend for now is the 1050ti since you can find it for 130€ and it's not bad at all @1080p.

A bundle. I said it was new. Because there are no B boards yet user jesus. Basic Asrock.

Alright, I'll explain. Intel are greedy jews, so they stop their CPUs from being able to overclock, then sell an overclockable version (XX00K) for more money. If you aren't overclocking, don't get a K series CPU or a Z370 MOBO, it's just wasted money. So is a fan, because even if the stock fans are shit they're fine if you aren't OCing.

>Because there are no B boards yet user jesus.
What, still? Holy shit.
Yeah, sounds fine for 600.

I don't fuck with AMD after having two other systems with stable overclocks burn out in 3 years.

My bad, reminded me that there are STILL no non-OC boards for Kaby Lake so I guess you're stuck with the Z370. The rest is still true though.

Ryzen isn't a fuckhigh tdp housefire for once, and it's better for what you want, as well as cheaper.

No, GTX 1050

>Then what is 8600K good for?
It's not. Only 0.3GHz difference between all core turbo for the i5 8400 and i5 8600K and you'll only get minor performance gains if you do try to OC

The i7 8700 is just above the i5 8600K in price and way better

i'm from Slovenia and yeah the prices here are fucked... the 1050Tis go for like ~180€ and rx570 4gb ~300€

All in all depends on what you plan to do with it too. Do you have 8 or 16GB of RAM?
Pretty interesting video putting things into perspective and relevant to your needs here : youtu.be/0t4uLh2ZK04?t=12m48s

Yeah I understand and know the difference between K or not, seeing I'm still using i5-2500K even if I never OC'd it. Fan is just for the fact I want to get really quiet PC as I'm autismal about silence and have read the NH-D15 is the best one in general and my current PC is fucking loud with its fans and shit.
But bear in mind that 8600K is better suited in general over 8400 even if slightly. And with how Intel does things, I won't get to upgrade CPU in few years of time with it alone, it will definitely require new motherboard too, so I think it's better to invest now a bit more in the CPU while at it, right?

Did i win the silicon lottery? I got this 2400mhz DDR4 ram that i can overclock to 3200mhz and still be stable.

(reason the 6GB has more FPS than the 3GB is simply because it's clocked slightly better)

Basically what you need to get from this is that if you have 16GB of RAM, the only 3GB VRM won't handicap you, but if you only have 8GB of RAM it will handicap you, whereas it wouldn't have if you had the 6GB VRAM version of it.

>guy has had so many shitty prebuilts over the years he never wants another one
>wants me to build a home office computer for $400-500 USD.
I've never built one for under $1000 and not really sure what to go with. This seems like the perfect job for Ryzen 3 APUs if AMD would ever actually release the damn things.

>and way better
Really? Huh, I looked at some graphs between programs and games and it didn't seem all that different, yet it's 400€ over 290€.
So should I go for the bundle with 8700K build in your opinion?

If he doesn't need a GPU/doesn't game a locked Intel CPU is enough since it has an iGPU.

>early Predator case

i have 8gb of ram and intend to play at 1080p but i guess i'm going to wait and buy a new gpu when the prices go down h-heh

Techno krill

Nice purchase man.

if i buy 1 16gb kit of ram, can i buy another 16gb kit of the same model later and still have it run at the same frequency?

Mobo is dual channel and has 2x 4GB of RAM set to 2400mhz.
If I later add 2 sticks of 4GB of RAM (the exact same ones), will all 4 sticks still run at 2400mhz?

How the fuck did you overclock from 2400 to 3200? Is that even possible?

>autismal about silence
Then be really careful about case fans, I have a Define R5 with a D15 and it makes a little bit too much noise. I'm 99% certain it's the case fans.

I'm trying to figure out how to overclock my CPU. The first time I ran Prime95 for the baseline I ran over 90C. Does this mean I have a shitty chip and shouldn't consider OC'ing?

>his keyboard is real
>the case is also real
Those animators did their research.

Not him but from what I understand the advertised mhz you see when shopping for RAM is just a speed at which the thing was tested to work at, but that doesn't mean it cannot work at higher one.

The same way you can get a 1600 overclocking higher than a 1600x in rare occasions, etc.

Oh? Should I buy different fans then too or what? I don't really know about making the case quieter as is so which is why I'm asking.

The thing that gets to me is just how expensive the Intel motherboards are compared to AMD.
And with ram prices so high now, I'm going to hit that budget limit pretty quick.

Yeah but 2400 to 3200 is a big leap. If he can make it run stable he is a fucking wizard.

That's just not true user, please make an effort to do your researches.
If he DOESN'T GAME and thus DOESN'T NEED a GPU then he needs to go INTEL.

Cheapest B250+G4560 is just over 100 bucks. Add 8GB of RAM and that's it.

Anyone?

How do I build a cpu cluster? I've seen people tie together a bunch of rasberry pis. Is that economical? What's the cheapest motherboard/cpu that would be economical to buy a bunch of and run a bunch of cpu intensive tasks on?

Why is asus so jewish?

no

>only ram available and on qvl clashes with my colour scheme
JUST

you don't own a monitor?

bpm-power.com/mobit/product/1637108
Should I?

Is there much difference between mobo manufacturers?
I've build 15 or so computers in the last 10 years and have only ever used ASRock boards.

I honestly don't know, I finally got around to making my CPU fan basically not move until my CPU hits like 50 degrees, then slowly speed up and spike at 85, and my PC got quieter as a result. The problem is that the FD fans are 3-pin so they don't get precise speed controls even if you plug them into your MOBO.
I might buy those magnetic fans at some point, but it's not loud enough since fixing the CPU curve to care.

Matte,
>why?
Have you every used a glossy screen? Shit's awful.

>colour scheme
faggot

>have only ever used ASRock boards
And none of them have died on you? Impressive.

Hmm, I see. Well fuck, another thing to worry about now. Seeing I'm buying new PC now I might as well buy new fans and whatever else needed at same time so get it done as is.
And I really, really want quiet PC. The PSU is supposedly good semi-passive, CPU with the NH-15 cooler should be max quiet even if watching movies, leaving only the GPU louder moving part for me. But now the thing with case fans, whelp. I know nothing about those, which can be considered good and what should be changed inside the case to reach quietness.
I was even considering buying extra lithium to cover the case with, despite the R5 being covered with such by default.

> i5-8400, an actually good deal on an Intel CPU
> no B370 boards until next year

I'm going to see it every day for years and I'm spending a lot of money so I may as well enjoy looking at it you sperg

Black or white case? I'm inclined toward white just to spice things up a bit

Just buy a z370 board so you can run your RAM at rated speed. The price difference isn't that much anyway, goy.

Nobody's ever said anything if they have.
I only have two of them myself, a Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 with an i5 2500k in it, and an AB350 Pro4 with a R5 1600. The older one has about five years of power on time and still going strong.

I haven’t built a PC since 6 years ago. Looking to upgrade. Quick question:

Do motherboards come with decent Bluetooth/WiFi as standard nowadays or do I need to buy extra cards or adapters?

For PSU what I did was get an 850w platinum one, the fan never even spins up.
Someohw I hadn't considered this but I wouldn't be surprised if my problem is the GPU fans and not the case fans.

Then you are literally magic and don't need to worry about MOBO brands. ASRock isn't garbage anymore anyway, but it was until fairly recently.

I actually remember when Acer made PC's like that. The cases look cool af, but the hardware was shit.

I know the 160€ and more expensive mobo's tend to have wifi things inbuilt. Just check out for them. Dunno about quality.

Buy a PCIe Wifi/BT adapter

No, happens a lot. Nice job though.

Yes

If you're looking at gaming, yeah you won't see the benefit because even an i5 8400 can max out all games. If you're looking at rendering you'll see a big difference between the i5 and the i7

Keep in mind that this is at Ultra. If you turn down textures a notch you won't see the dip

The 14CAS gskill ram are the samsung b-die right? It should work fine for am4 mobos even if its not on qvl?
