It's TERRIBLY slow for me. It takes more than 10 seconds for me to return the results.
Ecosia manages well to be not Google while having a fast enough of speed to return the results. It's better than SearX.

Just use Startpage, it's essentially just a middle man for Google so you get their results without muh botnet.

Running a local instance eliminates all the privacy benefits of searx as searx basically just takes your search and runs it through a number of search engines, so if your searx instance at your ip is only running your searches then google still knows what you are searching.
