and moving to 8k... yea movies will, likely broadcast tv will at some point, or at least have an 8k backbone, but with living room in real houses putting the normal viewing distance far enough away that even on a resolution level 720p is overkill, the home viewer will likely never go over 4k outside of special things, instead, a bigger focus on quality of the display will be made, and with hdmi 2.1 allowing 4:4:4 10 bit + hdr at 120+hz at 4k, its not far off from saying this is where the home user will sit for quite a long time.

I've used iMac Pros at my previous job, on a studio working for TV productions.
Honestly, I'd rather use my own Windows workstation.
All our renders were done on a render farm anyway so there wasn't much point to the super beefy CPUs the iMacs had, especially considering how hard they would throttle and how hot the iMacs would get.

One thing I did notice however was crashes on Adobe software. Phosothop is not too crash heavy, but on Windows I have lots of crashes with After Effects while I had very few crashes on the iMacs.
Also, I'm not sure which screens they put in the new iMacs, but for us the color grading/matching was done in different computers with special Eizo screens that had full color coverage, because the iMac screens were not good enough for color accuracy.
