Using startpage, with google as a fallback option, works well for me.
What did people do before Google became the answer to every question?
I don't know, you tell us, satan
blood sacrifice
Use Startpage
Set up a fake person and search Google using that identity.
Search404.io
They hopped on a bus and went across town to the library
When I tried Startpage I got worse results than DuckDuckGo.
unable to find the exact answers instantly, we took other measures.
we read books and manuals to find the information we were looking for, and learned much about the topic in the process. we gained a deeper understanding of things as we we couldn't avoid being exposed to related information, and often didn't mind.
we went to libraries, and to chatrooms. we were told to read up before asking questions, and learned that most of our questions were rather rudimentary. we got to know people highly skilled in different fields, who were glad to teach you what you wanted to know. we made friends, and got involved in collaborative projects for the sake of learning and socializing.
all the knowledge we gained was mixed with related information about the topic from books and websites, and subjective input from the experienced people we got to know. we enjoyed the collaborative effort involved in becoming less ignorant, as we gained a deeper and more holistic understanding of topics through social interaction and the somewhat inaccessible specific answers.
now we're told to Google it.
use this cs.nyu.edu/trackmenot/
Then you must be retarded. Because ixquick uses google results.
Whats wrong with ddg
>wants to get rid of botnet
>uses bing
Kek
Usenet Groups
Is ddg botnet and if so why
Google results are good for nothing if you aren't interfacing to their botnet. For example the other day I was looking for the "el peruANO" copypasta. I found it easily on DDG, on Startpage I only got links related to humanitarian organizations.
There weren't any major controversies but it's based in the USA so it might not be the best choice.
Still using it for the !bangs though, shit's great.
MSN. People around me suggested me to use some darned contraption called gewgal, but I just kept using MSN all these years.
use !g
Okay I like my duck and it doesnt look as autistic as the alternatives
brute-force all the ip-addresses and httpdig index.htm
>not !sp
Yahoo, altavista, loads of local regional and language specific search engines.
We got around. Finding porn and Final Fantasy fansites wasn't an impossible task, even in august 1998.
use searx
dunno if it‘s botnet, but the results are great
>we read books and manuals to find the information we were looking for, and learned much about the topic in the process. we gained a deeper understanding of things as we we couldn't avoid being exposed to related information, and often didn't mind.
This. Nowadays you might get a very accurate answer to a very specific question but often the broader knowledge is lost.
You're just a retard who can't even use web search properly.
good post
Ok it's settled guys, Startpage master race.
Even Edward Snowden recommends it:
youtube.com
Switch to Ecosia.

nostalgia + reddit spacing -> kys
I like Qwant. It acts like a proxy for bing and it's pretty fast. The number of times where I really can't find what I'm looking for with it and have to google it became extremely small.
I was fucking 10, what important things that weren't tiddies and edgy shit was I going to search for anyway?
Baidu.com
nah, we just argued for an hour about what could be right and got drunk.
We read about topics if they where intresting to us, much like now but with more library cards.
I had one for my local library for recreational reading and some basic hobby books and two for neighbouring university librarys for academic reading.
Now I still use the universty library for academic resources but mostly I get publications from their searchengine.
Recreational reading is mostly e-books for me now.
Use seartx.
I used to look shit up in our encyclopedia set, failing that you use the phone book to find a professional to call and hope they have time to talk to you.
Using paragraphs is "reddit spacing" only to an underage redditor like your shelf.
using searx right now but the search results are DREADFUL... the fuck, how do i improve it??
I don't care how fedora this sounds, it's unironically true. Before the internet knowledge itself was deeper and required you to actually think and remember things in order to "know" them. Now you just read wikipedia for a minute or two
learn to search things properly
duckduckgo is more than good for finding the majority of the things
There were other search engines that actually competed with Google.
>nuanced answer
>kys reddit
I want brainlets to remove themselves from the gene pool via buckshot immediately.
Also webrings, directories, links pages and the like let you bounce around between similar sites.
>nostalgia drunk retards
That info is still out there you fucking idiots, you just don't care about it.
>Oh, oh but how I am I supposed to look for broad information on a topic when I have search engines??????
Fuck you.

hasn't let me down once since I switched
startpage was giving me shit results when I searched for businesses near me so I tried qwant. I like it.
Use Searx and disable all engines you don't need for more speed.
Btw, Google is only good because it tracks your info and interests and feeds you with info it thinks you want to see. This leads to living in an information bubble. Time to break out if it.
>Not using Copernic 2000
Didn't know Satan was a massive pleb tbqwhy
The internet was p2p irc for pedos and cool kids.
Not OP but I have never had a decent result with DDG
It's all irrelevant shit on the first page.
Talk to people. In person. Face to face.
>need to use up-to-date Chromium for extensions
>latest ungoogled build is out-of-date
wat do
!g yoursearchhere
i miss these times, and I'm only 23 years old
it sucked when you didn't have any friends to talk to though. i'm terrible socially but i can always find someone online.
when you startpage your just getting startpage to google for you and ddg is only useful for the bangs.
i want you to try to live a shorter life
do you have a shotgun?
:^(
You have to dig a little more; that's all there is to it. That's how I got away from it.
...
Oh please, get off your fantasy.
When looking for an information, most people didn't spend multiple hours reading, they just gave up and end up with no answer. And no, people didn't read a whole book and got general knowledge just for an information; summaries exist.
Also, I know I'm on Sup Forums, but may I remind you that socializing still exists ? Yes, most people have more social contacts than anonymous on a chinese cartoon website. And yes, people still like getting less ignorant today.
What happened ? Ass blasted because someone told you to google something while you were on your quest to social, deep, general and collaborative education ?
>not a criminal
then keep using google
>bing
>shit results from ddg
when did google start shilling like apple?
searx
I never asked for this.
