Jobs & stuff again

Hey Sup Forums, I'm looking for some help still.

I just started working in a hostpital as a sysadmin in Europe, it's my first job ever in the field but I feels terrible here. This place is a shithole, nothing works and I don't feel like I can study anything new here or move forward at all. The PC's are 15-20 years old with XP on them and it's a fucking hospital. There's no real challenge except running and replacing toners and unjam papers all day. There's no budget for anything.

I earn about 380$ a month, an the two other sysadmins are bailing soon because the director won't pay more. What should I do? It was really hard to find a tech job in my 100km area but this isn't what I imagined. Even a factory job pays more and I had time to learn tech stuff there, but here I'm constantly running up and down and get about 0 experience.

I'm really not sure what should I do and what would be the best. Should I bail too or be the "nice guy" and stay for the hospital's sake and ruin my life? What else can one do if there are no tech jobs in the area?

Thanks Sup Forumsuys. :/

380$ a month?
is that in euros?

I'm from Hungary, I calculated so it's about 380$ a month or 345 euros / month.

holy
couldn't live on that where I live.
How's your quality of life/rent ect?

Ummm... what's the cost of living in your country? 380/month sounds super low. If you can live comfortably off that then fuck it, factory jobs and shit like that are definitely more taxing in the long run, even if they paid a bit more. Also, it looks good in your cv if you ever find the opportunity to seek other jobs. Hell, the situation could present itself automatically. I worked a similar job as you and a tech company representative that supplied some shit to us hooked me up after i got to know him quite well.

Most of the people earn like this here, the rents are about 200 bucks alone for a 30m^2 panel block, so more than half of your payment.

It's really hard to live alone even if you know how to not waste your money. If you have a partner then it's just fine from your and her/his money but still not comfy.

I'm living with parents because they told me to save some money first so I could start easier. Waiting for gf to finish university and we'll move somewhere then.

shouldn't spend more than 1/3 income on rent.
get a new job!

don't be a nice guy. look out for your yourself. if there's no future there go to someplace else that pays. put yourself first. always.

been there user: when the other 2 sysadmins will leave the hospital will expect you to work ridiculous hours and blame you for anything that breaks

your best bet is to stick with it for a few years and look into starting your own business - markets with low salaries the only way to make it decently is to be a business owner. something like IT/cloud consulting

this OP

jesus christ 380 a month? no wonder there are so many sluts from europe on chaturbate. thats crack head wages

Thanks guys, the other problem is that the other sysadmins don't care that I'm new and fresh out of school, they don't tell me anything at all because they'll be leaving so why bother by explaining things.

Sadly it's a state hospital so there's barely money for anything. And the tech stuff is way beyond repairing.

Yes, chat sluts from eastern Europe are living their dreams.

Not sure if you're joking or not, but it sure as fuck beats fucking strangers or doing what OP is doing for peanuts. Some of those whores make op's monthly salary in less than an hour. Just today I saw one guy drop literally thousands of dollars on one girl just to see her masturbate. It's fucking ridiculous

>380$ as sysadmin
>I earn 1k$ as a web developer in Poland in a small company
That sucks my hungarybro

oh shit nvm i just realized you're op lol. yeah i dunno what i'd do if i were you that pay is so ridiculously low i wouldn't even bother getting out of bed, let alone showing up

Yeah but your'e not from Hungary.

And that justifies paying people wages they can't live on? This is why I will never understand europeans and their obsession with communism. This is what happens

I'm living in the countryside, the capital pays way more but they only want people with experience of course and I hate Budapest, it's dirty and rents are way more expensive.

Sadly it's all true, my ex classmate is just sitting at home and waiting for a dream job nearby but for how long?

sounds like you want it all user - high paying job right away, living where you want and learning tons of stuff? that doesn't happen

MAKI!!!!

That's why I'm saving up everything I can user so I could move somewhere, but I'm not sure what's more important.
Earning more but not in my profession, or earning less and running between printers all day with zero networking and no linux?

You should move to the US; you'd make way more than 380 a month i mean come on now, we don't tolerant that bullshit around here. Even niggers don't get paid that little

How does one move to the US?
Let's say I pack my stuff, buy a ticket and go, but where should one go and how would one start there?
Aren't pajeets taking every beginner tech jobs there?

I was thinking of moving to Austria or Germany but the immigrants were faster than me

Legally moving is going to be hard as fuck, you have better chances by traveling to Mexico and jumping the border than trying legally as you're young and just recently employed, unless you're a millionare or have exceptional skills. Heard it's hard for europeans too.

t. mexican

I work as a IT manager in a company, i get around 1600€ at months and all i do is staying at the PC pretending to work

Do all you europeans make such shit money across the board or is it only certain countries? If someone were to offer me what you people get paid I would literally laugh in their faces, probably whip it out and jack it right then and there too

Eastern European countries yes, western ones pay average.

When i worked at mcdonald for 24 hours per week plus overtime i get around 850€ per month, which isn't that bad for a 4 hours per day job

I'm reading Sup Forums in the CLI

That's nice, but I'd have to climb the ladder first since I'm just a beginner, but I don't see future in this place. State institution sucks ass :/

кeк, I'd prefer not to do that.

>380 dollarydoos a months
what the actual fuck t. working at a babbys first actual work and 2000 europoors a month

ps. cute maki pic dude

>кeк
do they use cyrillic alphabet in Hungary?

Come to Austria m8
We have great work laws and you earn at least 4 times as much as you are making right now even in an entry level job..

You can't compare wages without looking into the financial situation of a country.
You can't even compare two wages after taxes as the cost of living differs.
Take the US as an example.
The wages differ from state to state.
The same wage can mean well off in one stare and be considered working poor in another.

Eastern Yuro salaries are low, western are way higher.

Learn something worth shit and work for foreign corporations, not your local ones.
I'm from Poland. Salaries of 2k+ EUR up are very common for programmers working for decent companies. As a senior dev you can earn 3x that, but that requires working for specific very high paying corporations (mostly banks). You could never make this kind of money working for local shit companies run by Polacks.
I'm pretty fucking sure it's the same in Hungary, if it's not then move out.

Thanks man, I'll look into it.

Is it possible to find a job there if I speak only English and very basics of German?

>Is it possible to find a job there if I speak only English and very basics of German?
I'm not from Austria but in general, if you apply for international corporations then you can speak english only, as it is required for every employee to speak english anyway.
If you try local ones then you will have to speak local language.
In general it is much harder to get IT job in high paying locations, as far as international companies go, because those jobs are getting outsourced to eastern eu and india, so keep this in mind.

I work in an international company in Vienna and we have to speak English here..
My boss for example is from Serbia and doesn't know any German..
is right but if you look hard enough I'm 100% sure you'll be able to find a company that's not outsourcing..

Well, can you improve your workplace without a budget? Will the director replace the other two? If not, can you arrange to take over the salary of the others if you do their work as well?

If there's room for negotiation I'd stay. If there's no hope for improvement, in any way, I'd go. Don't think about feelings, or being nice. Be constructive, but not naive.

Sounds great, thanks anons!

No, need to replace everything piece by piece. 15-20 years of tech you can't really upgrade.
Few years ago there were about 10 sysadmins in two shift, in September there were 5 in 1 shift, the time I came here is only three of us. Can't take their salary sadly, because there will be replacements who aren't even qualified, even if they'll keep quitting after a week.

>$380 a month
The fuck, I get £2k a month just for wearing a suit and pretending to take notes. Do you get some sort of financial support or anything, how the fuck do you feed yourself or even enjoy time, and I don't mean by going out drinking but by buying or going and seeing things you like

Holy shit dude have you ever heard of varying costs of living? Rent and food is piss cheap in eastern EU. It's luxury goods that you are missing out on with salary like this.

Okay, looks like your director is an incompetent idiot. It would have been on your seniors to take a stand and make him understand his errors but they decided to leave instead. Prepare to abandon this place as soon as you can.

Én a helyedben pestre mennék dolgozni.

This is norm in Eastern UE. I'm Pole guy from some posts above, it's not even funny how much more money you will get from foreign companies and how much more respect and appreciation you will get out of people who are not Poles.
Hospitals in eastern EU are in general one of worst places to work IT for, salary is always shit and you are basically IT janitor. Teaches you nothing and obviously you get no respect from anyone. Not even that surprising since you hardly do shit from everyone's perspective.
Then there are companies that were created back during communism and survived till now, those are almost universally run by degenerate fucks who understand nothing about business, god fucking knows how those even make profit and survive for so long. I guess it's mostly due to the fact they started out when there was no competition and built a name.
Anyway point is, here in Poland if you want to live good life you work for Swiss, American or German. No one will exploit Polack as bad as another Pole.

Köszi, sajnos Pestet ki nem állhatom, de lehet megpróbálom, néha nyelni kell az életben.

Yes the director won't listen to anyone, he wants to buy 200 printers instead of leasing them. We told him what's the best and cheapest but he's the boss lol.

Same here Polandbro, same here. Thanks for the advice

Seriously, sounds like shit.
Get a new job. No one is preventing you from looking for other positions while already having a job.

Are you telling me you can rent a place for under €200 a month? Even with that surely your savings wouldn't be worth shit after food, transport, bills etc. If he was sharing a room then sure but he didn't even mention if he was a student. A graduate in this type of situation should gtfo especially if there is no potential for promotion.
And I thought Hungary was better of than eastern euro shitholes

kill yourself. this is not your personal advice board. get fucked.

Im desktop support for the corporate building of a hospital system in the US. Making $15 per hour on contract. I'm the only one supporting all 10 floors and there's all these old medical apps to know about plus the vlan situation in the building is kinda wonky. I don't really feel like I'm going anywhere either.

Yeah, you probably can. Here in Poland you can easily get a 2 room flat for around 300-500 EUR depending on location. I know guy who lives in a shared house and pays 150 EUR a month for room with all expenses included. It's pretty ghetto mode though and you share bathroom and kitchen with other people.
Costs of living are always adjusted to overall wealth of people. If you try renting flat for 2k EUR in Poland then it better be some kind of luxury flat because otherwise no one will rent it ever.
As for savings, well if you work low income job it's complete shit, yeah. Because your leftovers are close to nil. The trick is to not work low income job basically. Or just fuck off to somewhere else I guess.

>380$
>$
>((((((($)))))))

are you the one who was using microwave time in the past ?
user learn english and leave country
t. polandbro

wtf OP, my gouvernement pays me 2/3 of your salary every month because i'm a student.

It's sort of tech related, I'll go out like a true legend when it's time.

It varies, as the user from Poland said, Hungarian/Poland companies jew you out, but bigger companies from abroad pay really nice, tho they are less common.

Some of the answers helped you too I hope

Yes but it's really hard to find something else as a beginner, so I most likely have to move soon.

Thanks Polandbro, did you have to leave too?

Where are you from? I'd be that surprised too

Italy here, I get 1800 eur/m after tax for fulltime ruby coding, and house mortgage is 480 eur/m. OP come here we need devs. Or go to london/zurich cause pay there is insane.

I'm a sysadmin, sadly not really good at coding. Not sure what's the best way to start.

>Yes the director won't listen to anyone, he wants to buy 200 printers instead of leasing them. We told him what's the best and cheapest but he's the boss lol.
he's obviously getting a commission with his christmas gifts, no matter what you say he won't change his mind

Zurich pays a lot, but the cost of living is just not comparable to Italy. I'm an italianfag too.

It does if you live in a civilized country though..

Europoors make me so sad

After reading OP, making 6 euros per hour doing software development in a shithole with similar cost of living doesn't feel that bad.
