What anti-virus software do you currently use?
Currently using avast and looking for something new, its pretty resource heavy.

NOD32
GNU/Linux.
Antivirus is useless software and only available for operating systems which are malicious themselves.
It's good for less technologically inclined people. And can also sometimes be helpful for the others. There is no reason to not use one.
>It's good for less technologically inclined people.
I would argue against this. Many, if not all, anti-virus software will try to take advantage of their most ignorant costumers.
Also, delete this shit thread.
Linux
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as GNU/Linux, is in fact, GNU/GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus GNU plus Linux. GNU/Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU/GNU system made useful by the GNU/GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU/GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU/GNU which is widely used today is often called “GNU/Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU/GNU system, developed by the GNU/GNU Project. There really is a GNU/Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use.
GNU/Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. GNU/Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU/GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU/GNU with GNU/Linux added, or GNU/GNU/Linux. All the so-called “GNU/Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/GNU/Linux.
Common sense 2017, can't wait for 2018 edition.
Not sure why webroot gets ignored. It's literally the best I've ever used.

you dont need an antivirus just dont be retarded
>t. fags who are infected but don't even know it because XD LINUX NO VIRUSES
>t. salty windows user with aids
Windows 10's Defender, works well enough.
Christmas fag, you dont need antivirus in 2017, since youre asking ill asume youre on windows, just update windows defender and make sure its always green, use ublock origin to block ads and you'll be golden, as long you dont install viruses by yourself, in which case leave this board, you can run malwarebytes every now and then if you're paranoid
I also use avast, but Im getting annoyed with the pop-ups and it trying to junk up my browser like some ask jeeves add on. Looking for others as well, been using free av, and avg in the past.. Wonder if there's better free out?
Antivirus is like training wheels, you only need AV if you don't know what the fuck you're doing.
>What anti-virus software do you currently use?
Common Sense
I use avast and I fucking hate it, but I can't be bothered to find a different one since I'll be switching to linux anyway
Windows Defender (and gnu/linux in dual boot)
av comparatives and fuck off
how much of a stupid user you gotta be to use windows nowadays
I understand it in 2000
but not in 2010 when the linux kernel is very well developed

Common Sense 2018 Developer Preview Edition
Common Sense 1997 Home Edition, running on GNU/Linux
le commen sense meme xD
Did you clicked on custom install and chosen the minimal setup? Or you just pressed the big green button like a illiterate normie fuck and got all the bloatware ?
ESET("main" antivirus), Emsisoft Emergency kit and Avira(portable).
Ccleaner
Don't fall for the "common sense" meme. It's pushed by malware writers to make you vulnerable.
You do need uBlock Origin but most versions of Common Sense automatically install it.
I've turned off all the notifications and it still bombards me. Also looking for an alternative.
All AV software are like that you dumb idiot. Only real solution is to get off windows.
>trying to junk up my browser like some ask jeeves add on
Why not pay attention and untick that jeeves & co. shit during installation?
Not malware writers, but total smartasses.
It's just one guy. He probably thinks vaccines are bad too.
ClamAV
>installing malware on your computer to keep out other competing malware
this
Common sense 2017.12
I wouldn't count common sense when it comes to removing viruses. Yes, you use common sense to prevent viruses, but what if you are infected already? What about popular software like CCleaner that got injected with hidden malicious malware?
use regcleaner and delete everything you don't trust. that plus removing anything untrusworthy from your start-up routiine should keep your computer pretty safe.
Kaspersky.
It's done good so far.
Haven't had antivirus software since about 2012, and haven't had a virus since getting rid of it either
It's all a total fucking scam, used to work at Staples and we had weekly quotas for the amount of antivirus we had to sell as no money was made actually selling hardware. The company would completely collapse if the antivirus companies didn't fund us
thanks for the link my brah
>weekly quotas for the amount of antivirus we had to sell
I don't think anyone in this thread is retarded enough to pay for AV software.
>can't get good software for nothing
I've used a lot of workstations running various types of commercial AV. It's all fucking trash, whether you pay for it or not, the only difference will be that once you've paid it stops pestering you.
But there's clearly no reason to use it at all, the internet isn't the same as it was 10 years ago, it's actually quite hard to get a virus these days unless you run Windows, turn off Windows Firewall and then run executables you find online
i got the common sense anti-virus
Is the AMD RX 570 a decent upgrade from the Nvidia GTX 680?
Shit, wrong thread
This cat is smart!
You don't belong here. Begone flaming newfag begone.
Android
Bitdefender internet security, for my mom and dad's pc
I do, but when it updates it asks again. It's calm down on the recent updates though.
Malwarebytes is a must, but skip the premium trial, Kaspersky for real-time protection
ClamAV is available for Win32, MacOS X, Linux & BSD
If you're using Windows you need an actual anti-virus program, if you aren't the likelihood of infection is extremely high. Everyone who recommends "common sense" is just a loser who uses linux because he can't afford a legitimate windows operating system, or they are a mac user which is nearly as bad
