Is VR a good investment for 2018?

Is VR a good investment for 2018?

Yes, if you're a retard.

Do you want to play hallway simulators that look like melting plastic?

The price of VR is only going to go down

Yes, if you're a niggerfaggot.

>investment
In 2019 you're not going to get any profits from it though.

>Do you want to play hallway simulators that look like melting plastic?
If I wanted to do that I'd just eat a few hits of acid and walk around my house.

Not for gaymen, as price comes how is this not maximum comfy productivity??

Buy a Hololens devkit if you want that.

I can watch pr0n at work and no one will know how is that not

If you have a steering wheel for racing games or a stick for flight sims then yes, it's fantastic and the other games are just icing on the cake. Otherwise probably not right now.

It will never look like that with current VR headsets. The shit can barely handle what it's doing now

>VR in work
No such thing.

It never was, it isn't and it will never be.

No, the novelty of it lasts about a day and then its only purpose is to show it off to others.

No, it's a fad, soon like 3D movies/glasses it'll turn to big pile of crap sitting unused in a closet. Money sent down the drain. Hope to god I'm alive when they prefect Star Trek like Holodecks. That's when VR will really shine. Just think;step into it with no device needed and it turns into whatever you wish with whoever you wish in it. So you could program it with an exact replica of your house with say Taylor swift complete with her personality in your bedroom and it be totally real.

>Is VR a good investment for 2018?

consumer goods are not investments, they're expenses.

Because the resolution is fucking shit

There's a reason your picture is 1280x720, and there's a reason VR "productivity" is shitty at the moment. Care to connect the dots?

>Open some bloated excel spreadsheet
>dip below the 70fps requirement for VR not to make you vomit, get microstutter

sounds good

Not really many worthwhile games yet. 2nd gen HMDs won't be out until at least 2019, and at most they'll bring slightly higher resolution and *possibly* wireless video (tech is almost there, but no guarantees, especially if resolution does increase).

If you want one anyways, go with the Vive. Much better than the Rift or Microsoft MRT headsets. The Knuckles controller coming out soon for the Vive is amazing, too.

If you want one but don't want to spend a lot of money, maybe look at the Oculus Go after it's released. It's a low cost, standalone headset with no wires or anything, similar to mobile VR. It's the first of its kind so it's hard to say if it'll be a success or not. Definitely has potential due to being self contained and easy to use.

Nobody gets sick from VR, that shit's a meme

Yeah you can. If the game allows you too much freedom to play with the camera and you stop turning your head and only use that camera instead you will probably will get very nauseated after playing for a while.

I did and it was unpleasant. It wasn't regular nausea where you can just puke and feel better, it lasted for a few hours. I wasn't the only one who got sick either.

That image is pure delusion. The highest resolution mainstream HMD right now is the Samsung Odyssey at 1,440 x 1,600 per eye. Normal sized text is unreadable unless windows are blown up to the size of a fucking theater screen, which is terrible for productivity. Even if you can touch type, the complete inability to see your hands is a huge inconvenience. And whether you want to admit it or not, there is neck strain and eye strain from using modern headsets for long periods of time.

The HoloLens is about the only device that's really aiming to be integrated into productivity applications, but it needs to at least triple its FoV and massively increase the resolution per eye to make that practical.

Not right now, wait till Intel releases their project Alloy headset and I heard that Occulus has a CV2 in the works. That is when you get into VR.

I've been in VR for years now and never got nauseated. I've played a lot of games with complete freedom of movement and heard almost no complaints from anyone about nausea. The meme originates from the fact that test groups include both gamers and non-gamers, and like you'd expect, grandma gets confused when you strap a headset on her.

Lots of games are dropping that teleport movement mechanic for traditional analog movement+seated gameplay because the general consensus is that it's unnecessary for the target audience. When it's left in it usually has more to do with allowing users to reset their positions in a room-scale experience rather than "preventing nausea".

Honestly waiting for those Bloomberg Floor Trader Types to start wearing vr/ar goggles.

Thats when you know it might actually be productive, those cunts are always the first with everything, PDAs, Pens, Touch, Thats what to look for.

if you're opening a vr coffee in brazil or india, yes

Why anyone wants to bother with screens you strap to your face still eludes me. Let me know when we get actual VR.

>actual VR.
what is actual vr? polygonal graphics just displayed on a monitor were considered vr at one point, but hmds have been what most people think of when they think of vr for the last few decades. are we just going to keep moving the definition of vr forward whenever something that was previously considered vr becomes available to the consumer? don't hold your breath for some kind of neural link because that probably won't be within your lifetime.

Yes, OP. VR is very worth it. You can hangout with waifus in VR.

I thought VR was meme-tier until i played robo recall. That shit was unbelievably fun.

>Download some vr jav
>Seeing a jap the first time in 3D

Jesus they look like deformed monkeys

which one/s?

>anything east of Ural Mountains

no i mean which videos.

>investment
Do tell how many pieces of software you've written so far.

Becuase this IS what it looks like in VR, text is fucking unreadable
-Early Vive owner

any jav
they all look like fucking caked up with make-up aliens
Is there a single fucking jav that
>doesn't have photoshopped to shit cover that has literally no resemblance to the models actually shot in it
>doesn't have squeaky "I'm a 30+ year old asian woman, but I sound like 9 year old girl getting raped" sounds
>Hard-mode: isn't censored

vorgob big

>>doesn't have squeaky "I'm a 30+ year old asian woman, but I sound like 9 year old girl getting raped" sounds
Protip: girl I used to fuck was an Australian born chinese, perfect aussie accent, but when fucking her she still sounded like a chew toy in a blender, totally out of character for her.
It's literally genetic

Just nuke asia tbqh, make them start over and this time not fuck up

At least there's ball gags

Speaking of VR, why the hell do they keep making those retarded computer backpacks instead of doing something sensible, like coming up with decent wireless transmission for the video signal?

>coming up with decent wireless transmission for the video signal?
because it needs to be extremely high thoroughput with extremely low latency and extremely high reliability
everything wireless isn't

How about Li-Fi? That should be fast enough, no?

God no.
It's fucking shite, to the point where I constantly regret getting my headset out of it's box when I build up false hopes of good VR games existing.

Because wireless was/is difficult while backpacks just work and can be made by anyone

You are a jav noob then. The same goes for Western porn that
>Doesn't have horrible boob jobs
>Doesn't have horrible lip jobs
>Doesn't have black actors
>Doesn't focus on the male actor and the male genetalia
>Doesn't have horrible "dialogue" like "yeah fuck me in the pussy"

There a are a lot of good jav, by they should keep them out of VR. In 3d you notice the ugliness if the actresses

crypto vr and memes will crash in 2018
get out while you can

Is there any sexdoll that makes use of VR? At which point are we regarding that? They could work so well together...

Not him, but you could notice in 2D if they didn't shop to hell and back the fucking covers.
My advice is getting screens for whatever you're downloading beforehand.

>Doesn't have black actors
What's wrong with you? Interracial jav is the best kind of jav too.

> My advice is getting screens for whatever you're downloading beforehand.
Even better, stick to your JAV waifu

So if western porn has all these things it's good?
You have shit taste.

GearVR is fun but I wouldn't spend more than that on VR right now. Wait for 4k at least.

>maximum comfy
VR stops being comfy a hour in

_180x180_3dh

I'm gonna invest in it idc

>Doesn't have horrible boob jobs
>Doesn't have black actors
>Doesn't focus on the male actor and the male genetalia
>Doesn't have horrible "dialogue" like "yeah fuck me in the pussy"

user you have no clue about what you're talking about. Being a huge casual in this case is protecting you from seeing the horrors of the JAV industry.

My thoughts on VR...

The vive (only worthwhile vr worth buying) still needs a battery. There are a ton of cables and annoying sensors to set up. And it costs a buttload. The resolution sucks and the games out for it are like demos, not full featured.

Good features:

Resident Evil 7 does look promising. Porn is probably amazing in VR. Some things might come out in the future making it worthwhile as well.

My thoughts, it's probably best to hold off and wait for something cheaper, a new affordable occulus is supposed to be coming out in 2018. It's just too gimicky right now.

>still needs a battery
what?

This only works if you're a cuck, though. There are enough cute nip whores to have a bunch of directories with female names in the asian section of the porn partition.

This right here.
Purchasing consumer goods is not investing, is spending. For crying out loud.

Enjoy your screen door effect.

It's great, from the point of view of causing you to re-evaluate your life and wonder why sitting in a dingy fetid room with a low-res display strapped to your head feeding you other people's dreams is preferable to getting your own life in some semblance of order and creating meaning for yourself.

I'm here posting from inside bigscreen right now
whats the difference just because I can afford head straps and you can't?

I can afford it, and that was my reaction after trying the Oculus Rift out for a couple of days, so I got rid of it while the hype was still high. Enjoy the head straps on your retard helmet though.

>Oculus Rift
see this is where you fucked up
the only advantage the rift had over vive was price and the vive is cheap now so theres no reason to get the inferior product anymore

The way he phrased it is open ended. He could mean developing for it as well.

Got the rift recently and pretty blown away by it.

Not that interested in gaming though more the other potential

brb still posting from my 3d tv while wearing my google glasses only in 720p

>Being a huge casual in this case
I'm a jav pro though

Name 3 actually cute short haired JAV girls, besides Satomi Yuria and Sora Shiina.

Also, mention your absolute favourites (as long as they have a cute face), besides everyone's favourite, Anri Okita.

Tpcast is already released
No idea how it'll scale with higher resolutions though.

Is a vr headset a better investment than a good monitor? You're basically getting unlimited monitors with that right? To create an equivalent 360 degree monitor setup would take thousands of dollars.

I have two cardinal rules when it comes to technology
>If you have to wear it, usually the technology is novel at best
>If it's not 'standardized', you're probably going to be nickle-and-dimed at the storefront

VR is and has been great at the education level, but from an entertainment standpoint, it's a sheer luxury that only the upper echelon of early adopters can enjoy. Not only are the units themselves expensive, but so is the equipment necessary to run them, but you also have to purchase the software to boot. It will eventually taper off and die the way of the 3D Tv's. I just wish it was sooner than later.

>Is a vr headset a better PURCHASE than a good monitor?
VR headset do not appreciate in price or give you dividends.

I like you

Porn

This could be said about literally any technology faggot

And monitors do?

Wake me when you don't have to set the UI scale to 400% and use Windows 10

it's taxing on the eyes for extended (2h+) use.
A 360 setup also sounds better than it really is. You are constantly moving your head and get a stiff neck.

Also resolution is still far from monitors. Personal sweetspot is a large virtual monitor a couple of meters away in vr.

I do like vr for 15min breaks though.

meant for

You dont have to think like that when you buy tech to play

I'd honestly rather go for decent HUD or some sort of Augmented Reality glasses that let me process emails on the go, can feed reference documents when talking with people.
For actual development work, one large enough screen (or two smaller ones) do the job just fine.

>Is VR a good investment
If you have a waifu, yes. Being able to touch your waifu and hold her in your hands is unbelievable

But I would wait for it to get cheaper.
