context: a lot seem to call "programs" "apps" now. even windows os refers to them a lot as "apps" now. macos obviously refers to them as "apps". i'm not sure about gnu linux but i think they refer to it as "software".

i know there's a lot of different words that can be used. programs, progs, software, warez, applications, apps. i was thinking about only including 2. "programs" and "apps". but decided to include all 6. also "warez" is sort-of a joke. also there for the sake of symmetry and "close enough" equating. but if everyone wants me to refer to it all as warez for the lulz. that'd be cool too.

it's sort of important because i may release a few small things here and there and i'm wondering whether or not i should refer to them as programs or apps when releasing them. it's an extremely minor thing i don't want to talk about or make a thing out of it or have it seen as "advertising" but may mention if i am asked about it.

the ultimate and final argument is probably "personal liberty" and "call it whatever you want to" and context. which is fine. but if i were to call whatever it is i'm doing "apps applications progs programs software warez" instead of just 1 of those words them it sort of looks like spam. so consolidation is important in this context.

also i usually delete my threads before 30 minutes since that's the time limit before they make it so you can't delete your thread anymore. just a heads up.

i know this seems like a minor question. but it involves a word used a lot. and i think that's pretty important. that and imageboards were meant to go quickly and even the internet supposedly wasn't taken seriously back in my day. /cane

anyway. i hope this helps. thanks. /polite

software/programs are the only acceptable choices

bumping with tech stuff for more votes

...

>Voted for progs

Only 1 vote and it's me

They all have different meanings, you idiot.

App - short for application
Application - a self-contained user-facing program or a collection or programs designed to complete a task or solve a problem, not all programs are applications
Prog - nobody uses this
Program - a sequence of instructions
Software - the name for the parts of a computer system that are not hardware, mainly applications and the operating system
Warez - pirated software

No they don't, you idiot.

Same shit.

>>Voted for progs

>Only 1 vote and it's me

i called it progs as short for programs as opposed to apps and i had someone upset that i was trying to make programs like apps. i could just call it apps and not get that shit.

...

Why don't you provide me with the unified definition then?

...

Well that's kind of what we're doing here now.

Stop bumping the thread every minute. This isn't Sup Forums
Nobody uses the index anymore.
Your 30 minutes bullshit is retarded.

...

Stop taking the internet seriously. This isn't somethingawful.
Nobody uses the catalog anymore.
Your 30 minutes bullshit is retarded.

>Your 30 minutes bullshit is retarded.
Your 30 minutes bullshit IS retarded.
Then what do you think you should stop having as a bullshit feature?

...

...

Do you want people to have a discussion about this topic?
Because you won't get that by deleting and remaking this thread every 30 minutes and spamming it with random pictures while it's up.

...

Do you want to have a not serious not cancer imageboard?
Because you won't get that by having wannabe /leddit/ "general" cancer threads that last for over 30 hours and spamming it with random unrelated shit that has a lot of shit that belongs in its own threads while it's up.

>moot likes imageboards because they're fast
>moot makes imageboards wannabe /leddit/ "general" cancer wannabe leddit long and slow shit

Irony FTW.
