context: a lot seem to call "programs" "apps" now. even windows os refers to them a lot as "apps" now. macos obviously refers to them as "apps". i'm not sure about gnu linux but i think they refer to it as "software".
i know there's a lot of different words that can be used. programs, progs, software, warez, applications, apps. i was thinking about only including 2. "programs" and "apps". but decided to include all 6. also "warez" is sort-of a joke. also there for the sake of symmetry and "close enough" equating. but if everyone wants me to refer to it all as warez for the lulz. that'd be cool too.
it's sort of important because i may release a few small things here and there and i'm wondering whether or not i should refer to them as programs or apps when releasing them. it's an extremely minor thing i don't want to talk about or make a thing out of it or have it seen as "advertising" but may mention if i am asked about it.
the ultimate and final argument is probably "personal liberty" and "call it whatever you want to" and context. which is fine. but if i were to call whatever it is i'm doing "apps applications progs programs software warez" instead of just 1 of those words them it sort of looks like spam. so consolidation is important in this context.
also i usually delete my threads before 30 minutes since that's the time limit before they make it so you can't delete your thread anymore. just a heads up.
i know this seems like a minor question. but it involves a word used a lot. and i think that's pretty important. that and imageboards were meant to go quickly and even the internet supposedly wasn't taken seriously back in my day. /cane
anyway. i hope this helps. thanks. /polite
