Reposting.
What does /wt/ think about my japanese shitter section of my collection? Citizen does not have battery since I needed it for the orient to test it.
Watches are on the purchace order, got the last two from a flea market for 8 €

I think you may be mentally ill

I mean, it's a shitter collection, but neither you nor the watches make any pretenses about it not being shit, so it's cool.

Citizen kind of annoys me; the brand reeks of dumb middle-manager. But they don't make bad watches.

Yeah, the Citizen was the first watch I've ever purchace, wayy before I was into these kind of things.

reposting from last thread
got this recently, returning it since there was a dust spec under the crystal and the rolex salesmen selling it to me were smug bastards

I have no idea why you bought that watch to begin with as it's from one of Tudor's horrible collections that haven't been revamped yet up to its current sports watch standards.

I really liked it how it looks, is right up my alley. I dident like any of its sports ones.

What's in rotation today wt?

The bristol

Sturmanskie

It's too big for your wrist little one

What's he wearing /wt/

...

tuning fork

Cool Nomos.

This thread was here, so I will just stay here thank you.

Fits perfectly imho, my standards might be too modern though when comparing my watch to others here.

Can anyone identify the watch she's wearing?

only if you identify which porno this is from

No idea, just saved the webm, don't really care what it's from.

This makes me so fucking angry

this looks like super advanced CGI

Why?

it's a type a flieger

Type B.

That's Julia Voth, I wish she did porn.

>watch mod
Looks like an IED.

One of the few that ended up traveling with me.

Got to try the special snowflake, god damn this watch is sexy

r8 my watch fellas

pretty cool user

Where are you at?

What are the thoughts on Strapcode? Thinking of getting a super jubilee 3D for my turtle but unsure. Are Jubilee bracelets easy to adjust?

This loud bastard.
Excuse the day/date It's not an instant change at midnight.

Visiting family in central Illinois. It's pretty comfy if nothing else.

They are very easy to adjust. Most links should have screws so they can be removed very easily. Depending on the clasp you get it should also have micro-adjustment.

Strapcode bracelets are great, I have a super oyster on my SKX and a super engineer on my Pulsar PW3001.

...

Alright thanks. Does the build quality justify the $80 price point?

Is there anything I should know about buying an auto watch winder? Can you overwind? Is there a specific good brand?

3D pigs should starve to death

It looks like you have fairly thick wrists and it just barely fits you.

Seiko 6139

Was pretty loose actually and yeah I'm a hambeast

I managed to get mine for cheaper on Amazon but yes imho. Just take a close look at the end link on the SKX, there's virtually no gap.

So can we identify the watch? You had to push a button to get it to display and the numbers were red.

Could be literally any LED watch, they were the first electronic digital watch in the 70s and the display used so much power that you had to press a button to show the time, Bond wore one in Live And Let Die. But as technology improved they became extremely cheap and they were as ubiquitous as modern day quartz.

Might get a 114270 while in HK.

I think I found a seller who sounds vaguely reputable in Quarry Bay.

What specific questions should I ask about the watches when I give him a visit, other than show me the papers etc etc.

I'm only in HK once a year and this dude is selling them at pretty good prices. Almost too good, but from the pics I see and his only history he seems to know his stuff.

His shop is in Quarry Bay which from what I know is not traditionally the upscale shopping area, which worries me a bit. It's not a poor area, but you expect to see high end sellers closer to downtown Central or Causeway Bay.

First watch. Needed to be able to check the time at work without taking out my phone.

I would never buy something that expensive from a seller you're doubtful about. I have some pictures I took of my 114270's serial numbers and the papers from when I bought it earlier this year, I'd be willing to post them if it helps you have a reference for what everything is supposed to look like.

>
did you melt a fraying edge or something?

Nice choice, it will last you years m8.

Here's the photos in case it helps.
1. Take off the bracelet to check the engravings in between the lugs. At 12 o'clock it says "orig rolex design 114270" and at 6 o'clock it says "stainless steel" and the serial number. The first letter of the serial number indicates the year of manufacture if it's pre-2010.
2. The serial number on the watch should match the papers. The bracelet also has its own serial number engraved in 3 locations: on the last lug before each endlink and on the folding part of the clasp.
3. A genuine crystal will have a laser etched crown logo. It shouldn't be visible under normal conditions, you have to shine a flashlight at a low angle from 12 o'clock and the crown will be visible just above 6 o'clock. A replacement service crystal will have an "S" in the middle of the crown. If the crown is easily visible without the flashlight it's probably fake.
4. My watch from 2001 has no rehaut engraving. Later 114270s will have the engraving, look up some guides on what it's supposed to look like because those are an obvious tell for fakes.

Maybe research the fake watch forums if you want a better idea of specifically what to look for. I know that generally one obvious flaw with fake Explorers is that they reuse the same case as for similarly-sized Datejusts so the proportions of the lugs and the bezel will be a little bit off. plain bezels on DJs are a little curved, but the bezel on an Explorer is flat.

Thanks, I just saved that image and these notes.

The seller is Alex Pig.

People on WUS say he's legit, but who the heck knows. Some of the threads I've seen posted here for reps like Panerai fakes are ridiculously realistic, which few me out because Rolexes no doubt are susceptible to the same efforts.

Rule #1 with Rolexes: if the price is too good to be true, it usually is

You're going to see it in person, right?

Listen to this user.

Ask questions, look at the other stuff in his shop. Look closely. Get a feel for the guy, trust your instinct.

Him having his own shop with contact info is a good sign though. Still... be wary. If something doesn't feel right, walk away, and pay extra for peace of mind somewhere else.

Another little tip with fakes; if you pull the crown and set the movement, as you roll the crown towards twelve, the hands should advance forward. If they move backward, that's a fake.

>You're going to see it in person, right?

Yeah, the guy has an actual store with high end pieces. But he seems to specialize in Rolex.

Already got in contact with him to let him know that I want to see it.

>Another little tip with fakes; if you pull the crown and set the movement, as you roll the crown towards twelve, the hands should advance forward.

What do you mean roll the crown towards the 12? Clockwise or counter?

Clockwise.

Thanks

I'll let /wt/ know what I find out after I go full ferengi on him.

i guess i have small wrists so i cut off the excess strap with a hot knife.

Please do. Reputable pre-owned watch dealers, who aren't overcharging assholes, who actually know about wtf they sell are unicorns. Especially in the Asian market.

M8 you're supposed to tug it back into the buckle like pic related

Well for starters he's wearing clothes

that looks gay tho. big piece of doubled up strap.

thinnest dive watch you can get?

As far as modern affordables go I know the NTH subs are very thin at only 11.5mm, otherwise the pre-bond seamaster pros were like fucking 9mm only.

I know it's difficult, but this guy fell for all the memes, and gets bonus points for being so fucking cringy

youtube.com/watch?v=jrYASvK0dio

My grandfather (RIP) old Orient tristar 46978.

And a pocket Mirvaine

Only thing he's missing is a Damasko.

Is antimagnetic resistance of 5000 A/m good?

Yes, just don't do something stupid with your watch

5000 A/m is 50G, about the magnetic field strength of a typical refrigerator magnet

Squale for $500

Should I?

sup /wt/ can you guys recommend me the ultimate beater watch? here's my criteria

>no larger than 42mm
>analog display
>less than $20
>100-200m water resist (can swim/dive)
>durable materials that you don't care if you beat it to shit
>useable lume
>dive timing bezel
>don't care if quartz or mech

Like what?

> Less than $20
Not even close

What are you even trying to say?

I can get pic related for 10 bucks but I'm not entirely sold on the 43mm size

...

>$20
A used mdv106

>44mm
2 big my friend

>complaining over 1mm

ayyyy

>cannot read

I wanted it at 42mm at max. you're saying something 44mm panerai territory baka

>There are people who actually care about 2 mm
This baffles me. It's a beater. Does it overhang your wrist? Why the hell do you even care about the diameter instead of the lug width? You can't even play the whole 34 mm fedora card because you aren't even looking for a dress piece.
Post wrists twink.

>I'm not entirely sold on the 43mm size
>you're saying something 44mm panerai territory
Who are you replying to?

>being this much of a retard who can't understand proportions

that extra mm gets transferred to every aspect of the watch from the lugs, case, dial, and width. if you're too much of a moron who's not going to read what's asked and just post random shit then shut up. you dumb fat cunt.

>being this upset
wew lad. Please keep teach me the ways of an enlightened gentleman. The way proportions are executed varies from watch to watch. If you live by some cut-and-dry rule like '43 mm = bad' then you epitomize the brainlet meme.

>watches of the same size can't have different sized lugs and dials
Stop.

Suggestions on a small, cheap analog watch for a NATO strap? Simple and under 40mm ideally. Don't care about water resistance or durability that much.
I have a Casio MQ24 and a Timex Weekender and I want something in-between those for casual wear without looking too shitty.

>$5000
>eta 2824
Someone's havin' a laff m8.

What's wrong with the Weekender? It already fits all your criteria.

Nothing (aside from how loud it is maybe) but I like really simple, small watches and even that's a bit dressy sometimes. I may just get a women's and put it on the NATO.

you could probably get nicer cheap watches

...

Not super cheap but maybe try a Nomos fake? Automatic mechanical, so you get to try that out for a change.

Or go for a higher quality Daniel Wellington fake, the ones that are like $30. They come on NATOs anyways.

Ohhh... I had almost forgotten I bought that watch once.

It looked nice for the price, but the seconds hand was dettached when it arrived, so I returned it.

Panerai are easy to fake because their watches are shit.

I like the Daniel Wellington fakes on GearBest but I thought I read they were total shit. Are there different levels of fakes? Some of the Nomos stuff on AliExpress looks good too. Thanks.

That's hideous.
That looks like it would be radioactive. In a good way.
I like milanese, but it's too delicate to work with that case.
Maybe you should consider the size of your wrist when choosing a watch. That dial is beautiful, tho.
