Google doesn't throttle Nexus or Pixel devices

>Google doesn't throttle Nexus or Pixel devices
>Nexus phones become famous for shitty batteries that shut down at 30%
>bootloop issues galore

>Samsung doesn't throttle Galaxy devices until very recently
>Every Galaxy S-blank and Note-blank also becomes notable for famously shitty batteries, which is literally why all Galaxy phones up until S6 had removable backs in the first place
>Note 7 literally blows up in everybody's faces

>Apple throttles iPhones and openly admits to it
>stable iPhone battery life is sustained over the course of years but people throw a tantrum and grab their pitchforks anyway
>suddenly, throttling is an entirely new concept that nobody knows about until right just now
>Apple invented throttling and is evil and bad and mean >:(
how is this such a big deal? the throttling isn't even permanent. all you have to do is replace the battery, which isn't even that expensive or hard to do yourself, and the phone will go right back to working like normal. this whole thing is just the result of outrage culture, slow news days and normies not really understanding how technology works.

>apple uses cheap shit tier chinkshit batteries
>they start to fail and with critical voltage failure at 30% battery life resulting in explosions and premature shutdown
>iphones are sealed and glued pieces of shit that can't be serviced by users
>let's just cut voltage and CPU performance by 50% and hope our shee- customers don't notice
iToddlers have just defended this.

How any of you can have the mental force and the motivation to defend/attack you phone of choice?

It's a fucking phone.

Jesus Christ.

I don't have a problem with the throttling. I have a problem with the fact that they didn't tell anyone that simply replacing the battery could make your phone feel like brand new again.
It's like they deliberately tricked their customers into buying an entirely new phone when all they needed was a new battery.

Can changing the battery really increase performance for a phone? Because my S5 has been a little slow recently and it does have a removable battery that I could change.

The way Apple's throttling software works is basically by measuring the amount of damage taken to the iPhone's battery over time to ensure the battery doesn't explode or die unexpectedly. So if you get a brand new battery, the iPhone's performance won't be limited.
I don't know if Android works the same way.

Android doesn't bother with throttling, so you immediately know the battery is dying and needs replacement, rather than trying to trick their users into thinking "the phone is just old, time to buy the latest one".

Don't charge your phone above 80%, don't discharge it below 20%.
There, you phone will last you 5 years, unless it's an iPhone, because the battery capacity is too small for that to work.

Android has ways to automate this process, by stopping the battery from charging above a selected %, so you never have to worry about it.
iOS doesn't, and ships with half the battery capacity of a $200 android phone to boot.

iToddlers will defend this.

iPhones and iPads can be serviced though, but it is pretty difficult to do, and if you aren't careful and if you aren't sure of what you are doing, there is bound to be some mistakes that could damage something for sure.

>only use 60% of the battery's capacity
What a fucking retarded thing to do

Can you give citations on why Lithium-Ion batteries should be kept within that charge range to increase their lifetime?

My Nexus 6P dies at 10-20% almost every single time. I'd rather have throttling than that.

This is a board dedicated to the topic of technology.
There is nothing else to talk about, really.

If you have an iphone 8 with a "whooping" 1821 mAh battery, yeah it's fucking dumb.
But if you're like me and your phone has 4000 mAh battery, you can afford it, especially if it allows your battery to degrade much, much slower. batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_prolong_lithium_based_batteries

It's like $10-20 for a new battery...

Most people can't install their own iPhone battery. They're forced to go to an apple store or go to a cell phone repair store. The brick and mortar places will charge them $50-70 for a new battery+installation, while the apple stores will basically do everything in their power to sell you a new phone rather than replace the battery on your current one.

I don't care about iToddlers. I mean if you have an Android phone with a removable battery, why remove nearly half the battery life when a replacement is so cheap? Besides, most people probably replace their phone before the battery goes bad

Because some people want their phones to last more than a year and a half.

>replace the battery
and it's easier than ever with all modern phones have removable batteries

>while the apple stores will basically do everything in their power to sell you a new phone rather than replace the battery on your current one.
except they literally have it right there on the warranty page the cost of a new battery out of warranty so this is a blatant lie. extended warranty (applecare) covers this for free which you should definitely be purchasing for any purchase over a few hundred bucks.

Glad I still use my razor phone

>iPhone
>good battery life
haha lol
