I mean don't get me wrong. It definitely has issues, but don't lie.

...

It is narrow minded to assume that the GPL is the only factor to judge if something is free or not. It's spreading like a virus; even fucking Chromium depends on it nowadays. (Chromium -> udev -> systemd)

>using chromium ever

It’s GPL so I am not immediately concerned. If someone can link me to something like the Arch Wiki for distos without systemd, I will jump ship to void/devuan/whatever.

I’m a brainlet so manpages don’t always answer my questions like a wiki.

What distros use GNU Shepherd instead of systemd?

I use void and the boot time is about 3 seconds. Runit is damn fast. Take that systemd.

GNU GuixSD.

If it could do less than 2 seconds in 2012, imagine how fast it boots now :^)

slower

I started using OpenRC as an alternative to systemd. It's very easy to manage and works flawlessly (except I'm having some weird problems with PolKit), but I must admit: systemd is faster, even with RC_PARALLEL set to "yes".

Even so, Poettering works for RedHat, whose income is mostly from the DoD. That alone is enough reason to make me look somewhere else.

>PCLinuxOS (now independent; IIRC it used to be based on Debian?)
>Artix (Arch/Manjaro based, I highly recommend if you are willing to tolerate and fix a few bugs you might have)

or, literally
install gentoo

SystemD is the best thing to ever happen to Linux.

My ubuntu machine with systemd takes atleast 12 seconds.

void+lxde

that's what I am using, too

It's GPL so reality doesn't matter, I can safely ignore the technical and political aspects of its affect on my freedom.
