Anyone here has a 3d printer? what do you use it for...

anyone here has a 3d printer? what do you use it for? some of my coworkers were telling me about how they thought it was interesting (one has it, other wants to buy). one was talking about printing plastic stuff to fix things around the house, the other makes electronic devices he sells and prints cases and whatnot

i like the technology but i'm looking for usecases. so far i don't have anything. what are the best priced printers also? taking in consideration recharge prices as well

at work we use them to make dragon dildos

>Printing plastic stuff
>Recharge prices
What the fuck are you trying to ask? Every question so far has been answered on forums

sorry guys i thought we could talk about technology my bad let's end the thread

Hahahahaha! So funny! Hahahahaha! I'm dying of laughter here! Hahahahaha!

If you already tinker with electronics or are an artist then it makes a fuckton of sense. You can print literally anything in plastic and it's a hobby of sorts apart from the whole "use case" thing, much like PC. Get a cheap kit from Tronxy for like $200 or something and then build it, upgrade it, try and learn 3d modelling software etc.
It's not like desktop printers, those just work. 3d printing requires some effort, unless you buy a proper professional grade printer which can be a little bit expensive. Look up MakersMuse and 3D printing nerd on YouTube.

>one was talking about printing plastic stuff to fix things around the house

> two replacement drawer handles
> one replacement light switch frame

> that is all

what's the name of the material those things are made of? it's not silicone rubber. it's some weird-ass chinee stuff.

the pay is good and I didn't have to move anywhere
worked here 5 years, first heard about it on Sup Forums, I used to be like you

a special formula of platinum-cure silicone

here's an example of platinum-cure silicone being used, but different overall process than we use

No company is going to waste money on 3d printing dildos when factories can churn them out like butter for much cheaper costs.

I'd like to introduce you to the concepts of short runs and prototypes.
There are many small businesses that make a living specializing in this market.
Setting up a production line to make one-offs is not cost-effective,
My employer, for instance, wanted a distinctive token to give a successful marketing team. A short-run specialist made personalized tokens for each team-member. At a reasonable cost.

Stop trying to save face. What kind of shitposter even does that?

You don't work for a company that 3d prints dildos. They use plastic, not rubber or silicon, which dildos use. 3d printing is not cost effective enough to make and sell things with, either. Not for any business that isn't a guy in a garage.

If you're into electronics you can make boxes that prevent it all your cables and pcb boards hanging around all the time.
Last year I made a robot, and we 3Dprinted a lot of stuff, it's very useful as you can actually make pieces adapted to the whole structure, and not the other way around.
Making a 3D printer is a fun project on its own too !

can the 3d printer make hardware tools?

if you want a cheap printer kit get some prusa i3 kit I think the anet 8 is supposed to be good its fairly cheap, you can get a clone of a different extruder which was kick started from China I forget what its called but it apparently makes the print quality a lot better. I forget the channel you can probably find it easily some guy on YouTube made videos of it just look up anet a8, merry Christmas desu

I guess it could.
Depends on what tools you wanna make obviously.

>silicon dildos

90 percent of dildos are made of silicon, kid.

...

>have a 3D printer
>it's gathering dust right next to my Raspberry Pi, Oculus Rift, and recreational drone

Shit's all useless
