Does anyone here ironically use BSD?

Does anyone here ironically use BSD?

No, wait.

Does ANYONE ON EARTH still use BSD over Linux in the year 2000+17?

is bsd to linux what linux is to windows??

What do you want frog o

Does anyone here unironically use BSD?*

Except Windows users respect or just ignore Linux users while Linux users have autism attacks over the "cuck license"

i used openbsd a bit back, plan on going back for it when i buy a new hard drive.

it's like linux, with less bloat and more security, and no GNU retardation.

what about that tingles your autism exactly?

Yes

OpenBSD, yes.

Don't be so butthurt that other people have better taste than you.

Unironically, yes.

i prefer it

do you run current?

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

Freebsd and can't go back to GNU/linux.

Yes. Now that Linux is absurdly easy to use edgelords have BSDs to l33t with.

Right, because there aren't plenty of threads about how Linux is shit from Windows shills on a daily basis, sperging the "mush just works" meme.
Lurk more.

I tried my best to get comfy on it on my X220. It wasn't as bad as you'd think it was, and if I had to use it because linux just disappeared out of thin air all of a sudden I'd be good, but it's still a shit experience on the desktop over basically any modern linux distro. And I'm not about to fall for the "it's good for servers!!" meme, because even in that space I see no benefit over linux. It's doomed to niche use cases like big network stuff.

I tried FreeBSD and OpenBSD for a month each and NetBSD for a week. Free/OpenBSD were alright. They each had their perks in that FreeBSD had a pretty good amount of software packages and is nice for people new to the UNIX setup, meanwhile OpenBSD is secure and very nice on resource usage and both are easy to setup. NetBSD was a flaming piece of shit however. After A while I had to stop distrohopping and had to commit to antiX, but I like the BSDs and I can actually see why people would use it if they thought the GNU useland is bloated (which it is). They're not bad at all minus NetBSD

Stable 6.2

> no GNU retardation.
I wish gnu bloat style has leeched it's way into all big FOSS projects and unfortunately openbsd isn't an exception.
I love openbsd and use it daily but fuck me they actually listened to the retard claiming that rm needs a `-v` flag so that he knows what files he's deleting.

I use OpenBSD on my laptop. It sucks sometimes like WiFi hopping is dumb and I can't get shit onto or off of my Android phone. Besides that I like it for all the reasons you would expect

>I can't get shit onto or off of my Android phone.
simple-mtpfs or adb pull. take your pick

>WiFi hopping is dumb
I agree why are you doing it

Simple mtpfs crashes when I try to open my DCIM folder. I think the folder is too large for it to handle. I can try adb. I didn't think it worked on BSD

I'm a college student so I need to WiFi hop around campus. Lack of proper WiFi daemon sucks

Check out wiconfig

I also hope around campus but not with my laptop open. It reconnects just fine when I open the lid. If it doesn't it's just a quick `/etc/netstart if#` away.

Thanks
