Depends on the book, if you read comics you probably not gonna learn anything.

Yes, it does. but depends on the book than you read, obviously.

question:How can i improve writing abilities?
I just read lotr in english and understand %80. but can't write in english

it's one of the only ways to truly improve vocabulary

You're writing in English now

Read more I'd say, or go to more serious websites like r.e.d.d.i.t

but not enough worst than 4fags

worse*...

One story by Borges and you will learn 5 new words

Write a lot on english sites like reddit. People will correct you.

Depend on the book, as my countryman has stated.

If you read something like Eric Voegelin or Erik von Kuehnelt-Leddihn, you'll improve your knowledge and your vocabulary, tha is for sure. Now, if you read 50 Shades of Gray, don't expect much.

>2016
>reading
Go back to 1980's ahahahahahaha

>if you read 50 Shades of Gray, don't expect much.

are you sure? I'm sure if you're a beginner you will benefit from it

Err... 50 Shades of Grey is a housewife wet dream kind of book. So, I wouldn't recommend it that much.
Why not Lord Of the Ring or A Song of Ice and Fire?

Eh, yes and now.

it's overrated

Russian folk are very cult, as I have some opportunity to talk to them.
You have great writers [Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Leo Tolstoy, etc.], how can you say something like that?

Also, you can start with Crime and Punishment from Fyodor Dostoyevsky.

Can I get some context on that pic?

It's from the failed Turkey coup

To a certain extent but after a while you're only learning words that no one uses and people will think you pretentious if you use them in everyday conversation

Reading things in a field you specialise in is great though

I feel obligated to acquiescently concur.

To balance it he can read (good) newspapers. The vocabulary used there is supposely formal but not in an extreme extent.

*record scratch
*freeze frame

yup, thats me. you're probably wondering how i ended up in this situation. it started when.....

Why are American movies always so similar

I read a lot of H-manga during school years, so I think it helps you

It would be a waste of time to fill your vocabulary using an erotic book for housewife or a book about non-existing world.
Surprisingly, I found it useful in terms of filling vocabulary to just watch fokin British streamers (e.g. this guy youtube.com/user/SovietWomble) and their friends. Their vocabulary is much more rich than any American one.

Faulkner and McCarthy were my english teachers.

>One does not simple; replace books for a youtube channel.

Anything, but this!

Definetly does if you read the right stuff.

My father handed me all his old karl may books.

I am really thankfull for the advantage it gave me regarding vocubaulary and grammar.
