English is Germanic

>English is Germanic
Can we put an end to this stupid meme?

Danes say "froga"? No fucking way, they say "sporre", old norse all the way

English grammar is Germanic
English vocabulary is pretty evenly split between germanic and french

why do people have a problem with this

All of those English words are Germanic you fucking imbecile.
And "window" is the only translation there that's actually Germanic.
>lel trolled
I don't even give a shit.

>And "window" is the only translation there that's actually Germanic.
What?

>fugel
>froga
>andning
>fonster

>pig=swine?
>count=earl?
>run=walk?

Fenster and its cognates in the other Germanic languages all come from Latin.
Window is a thoroughly Germanic term. It comes from an Old Norse word meaning "wind-eye".

English is too plebeian to be a romance language.

vindauga...I never realized.

there is most of the time a germanic equivalent of those words...
>hound
>swine
>dame
>humour

unless it's of latin/greek origin (in which case it is utterly retarded) or the english were fucked too hard by the french

AAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY PAAAAAAPPPPIIIIIIII :DDDDDDD

>Wind Auge

>monkeys and apes are different from humans
>therefore no common ancestor of monkeys, apes, and humans exists.

Learn gothic or altdeutsch, pleb. Also, cherry picked examples. I could set up a chart just like this """"proving"""" the opposite.

>dislikes English
>has to learn it anyways

imagine being this cuckolded

English is not entirely Germanic, but it's more Germanic than it is anything else.

Every single English word on that chart is of Germanic origin.

Also,
>Fenster
>Humor
Latin as fuck

English structure is Germanic. It has a similar structure to Dutch but I will agree a lot of the nouns and verbs are Latin but it's definitely not a romance language.
English speakers have trouble grasping this when the learn Spanish or French

Who was talking about OP's pic?

Dame is not originally germanic, i think it's from french

French and Spanish are easier for English speakers than German

I think it's turkish

D-dame dayo~

English is everything. Stfu and submit to your conquerors

That is because German grammar is pretty complicated.

However, English and Scandinavian have an almost identical grammar.
That is why English is a realy easy language for us to learn.

Which is a little funny, because English is part of the west Germanic family (like German itself). I remember being surprised when I tried learning some Danish on Duolingo for fun and a lot of it seemed really similar to English.

of the 100 most commonly used words in the English language, 96 are germanic

I'd like to the see the stats for 3000 most commonly used words

it all depends on how fancy you want to talk
