Why does Sup Forums hate minimalism again?

Why does Sup Forums hate minimalism again?

because it looks like shit. why would you want something that looks like people took alot of time on something to make it look like they didnt take much time on it at all?

we dont?

>he probably prefers programs like this

Cause you'll never make it in life the easy way so you gotta do things the hard way. Look at Kim Kardashian, she made that porn vid hardcore. She hardened her ass. Look at Apple, they make their employees work hard in China and they still manage to sell broken shit to millions of minimalists. Do you ever see a guy fucking with his dick not hard? Exactly! NO. The world is hard OP, it's hard. I'm hard, you're hard, we're all hard.

Are you having a stroke, user?

well, mike reiners, i think that looks better than some less textured calculator application.

No

ok

The beauty of gnu/linux is the customizability.

Most noobs who use gnu/linux haven't explored this area to the greatest extent

Who's that loli?

It's because it's an ill-defined -ism. Minimalism is about finding the most efficient tools to do what you want and need, right? But what *you* want and need will invariably be different from what I want or what user Y wants.

And that's just from the subjective user perspective. Finding "objective" examples of minimalism -- be it in software, art, or wherever -- is dumb as hell, because you'll quickly veer into arguments of form versus function. That is, on the extreme side of minimalism, you'll get something SO barebones that it's effectively useless. A more realistic example is software that 1) requires a lot of setup, particularly editing code/text files and 2) doesn't have a (usable) user interface, be it text or graphical, but has to have one supplied with it.

Because minimalism reduces functionality. Have you seen these macbooks with 1 port for everything, including charging? Maybe you also want to pick up girls by flirting with them, instead of just tipping fedora?

Sup Forums is the fucking definition of minimalist

Maybe my view of what is the right minimalism might differ from yours and you mistake it for hating minimalism instead of hating you.

>Sup Forums collectively hates something
i refuse to believe we can agree on anything at all

Sup Forums is not one person

ITS A JEWISH THING

Most of us don't
We like having things more minimal like smaller websites, a bit less dependencies, applications that don't try to featurecreep, not forcing bloat (or botnets) on the user.
However a lot of us don't like extreme minimalism to be as minimalistic as possible just for the sake of minimalism.

Go back rms. It's Just Linux.

That's because using fdroid is objectively superior to letting Google spy on you.

Alpine Linux 4 lyfe

I think the OP is referring to GUI design, to which Sup Forums is mostly opposed to because Sup Forums is contrarian by nature. It is the same reason why in OS usage Sup Forums acts minimalistically and tries to adhere to the UNIX philosophy. For the second case, it is also the correct choice
