Had this one mactoddler friend that once decided to "build" his own gaming PC. He was too much of a brainlet and couldn't figure it out so he returned everything except the GPU and PSU and bought a prebuilt.

When installing his own HDD later on he put it in sideways and had the cables sticking out of the case. He just forced the panel back on bending and breaking both the power and SATA connectors, frying the HDD.

Told him how to fix it but he was ready to just trash it all. Bought his whole $2000 "dead" system off him for $500 and fixed it up in 10 minutes.

He's now playing PUBG on his $2000 iMac at 15 frames per second.

I consolidated a few drives a couple months ago, still had file creation dates going all the way back to 01. Once you get locked into a serious hoarding situation, the tendency is to push it as far as you can. My goal is to have any song, generally known program, some movies and TV shows available offline. This includes an offline Wikipedia copy, no images though. Used to use dc++ and download people's whole drives, pick through it all and chuck anything I didn't have a copy of on a hdd. Dude I've got music where the titles are in some funky squiggle language, whatever.

I still have a OCZ 1st gen Vertex 60gb with like 15tb or so written to it. It still just werks. In total I now have 6 SSDs ranging from shitty BX200 to samsung 850 evo and they've all been fine.
