>business-grade routing literally what does that even mean?
Cooper Ortiz
why are you even on Sup Forums?
Daniel Sullivan
WRT-54g DD-WRT OP is a faggot
Levi Price
>WRT-54g >DD-WRT
ouch
Michael Diaz
I have that exact router, OP.
Gavin Perry
It's popular.
Jonathan Walker
OP is indeed a fag
Jose King
>muh ddwrt
It's shit. Always beta quality. Deal with it.
Leo Sanders
>dd-wrt enjoy your 4k peers limit and broken shit

>not just getting orbi
What a loser. Enjoy your no life.
Brandon Lee
Hello im ubnt and what is this?
Blake Johnson
>orbi
go back to watching rick and morty you bugman
Benjamin Foster
just some shitty cisco that came from the isp
Nolan Reyes
What router should I get? I want to get rid of my ISPs botnetbox.
Adrian Foster
it means huge and loud industrial routers that are meant to go in a server rack and have more ports than you can ever use.
Ethan Wright
all of them are botnet if you are on docsis. it would not work if it wasnt.
William Adams
>that came from the isp
why are you even on Sup Forums?
Asher Morris
it just works and i dont want loud datacenter hardware in my home.
Kevin Richardson
>loud datacenter hardware
jesus fucking christ. how do you even tie your shoes being this dumb?
Liam Morales
i dont. modern shoes have lock bits so you dont need to tie them anymore.
Sebastian Davis
Thinking of this for the small company I work for as we currently use a netgear n300 and it's just plain inadequate
Noah Allen
WRT 3200 acm running LEDE but it keeps dropping wifi connection so i went back to my netgear r7000
Oliver Parker
>all these faggots using combo boxes with muh shitty AP flavor firmware
Juan Collins
maybe i should build an open wifi router that runs windows 10 and has all telemetry options enabled.
Henry Johnson
1) Whatever is LibreCMC compatible. 2) LibreCMC 3) Whatever you mean with this, I personally accept no compromises, I don't use wifi at all due to it's lack of security and how easy it is penetrate. Cat7a Ethernet only, switch is your best friend.
Colton Anderson

maybe you should return to where your fellow plebs hang out at plebbit
Owen Davis
I got several Orbi's from work, they seem to work quite well.
more features, updates when your OEM stops updating.
Josiah Harris
So, it's pretty much useful for old and/or basic hardware right?
Brandon Sanchez
My ISP gave me a free router. Did I fuck up Sup Forums?
Ayden Baker
>1) What model router do you have? WRT54G or something. >2) What firmware do you use? Is it up to date? Stock 1.0. >3) Have you considered business-grade routing? Should I?
Daniel Martinez
Can anyone on Sup Forums help me out? >ISP only provides internet via a ethernet cable, need to buy my own router and configure to use wifi, get constant 50 mbps downloading uploading speed (that's 6.25 MB/s) >buy dlink dir 615 router because am poorfag and was getting that for 6 dollars and configure it >get half of the speeds that I got from directly using net via LAN cable (range is shit (only works in the room installed and the adjacent room, drops signals like a cunt in others) So obviously I need to replace this piece of shit Some guy I know recommended TPlink TL-WR841N. Is that a good router? Will it not be a piece of shit like my dlink router?
Evan Jackson
>TPlink TL-WR841N I have WR740N which is pretty much the same but with one antenna, i got 100mbps from isp and wifi varies 60-90mbps in the same room, and around 30mbps trough 2 thick brick walls. I imagine with 2 antennas it will be okay. Software wise, i used stock for 5 years without any problems, and dd-wrt for a year with some bugs
Gavin Perry
>Pic related >Tomato Shibby, no update since 2014 >No, but interested
Joseph White
Main is Archer C7 AC1750 v4 with ddwrt. LEDE is not an option, as it's known to degrade ac performance. Currently it handles all services including openvpn server. Secondary is WR1043nd v1. It's a print server and switch.
Austin Howard

All of you kids fucking disgust me
Mason Long
>Daily reminder that DDWRT is shit and you should be using LEDE or Gargoyle for stability and speed. works just fine for me >1) What model router do you have? TP-Link Archer C7 v2 >2) What firmware do you use? Is it up to date? DD-WRT >3) Have you considered business-grade routing? no
Carter Bennett
here Did you ever test USB performance in it? I'm only getting about 12MB/s, and it causes 100% CPU use...
Alexander James
I have gigabit internet, will a USG make me unhappy? I don't need all the features pfSense has.
Carter Gutierrez
I use a dedicated server with NFS / SMB shares like every sane person
Grayson King
You haven't answered my question :^)
Henry Edwards
Asus RT-N66U here
Parker Collins
Complete newb with routers. Best router for $200 US? I have 100 mbps spectrum internet.
Isaiah Turner
Bump
Julian Myers
I got this one stupid fucking cheap a few months ago from a retail training promotion. I would never have considered paying this much for a router otherwise.
Dominic Gomez
TP-Link Archer VR900 + Archer D7
Jonathan Morgan
I have a dilemma. I bought a WR1043ND (V2) for cheap to use as a switch and router. For whatever reason, it can't retrieve anything WAN-side. I think it's because it doesn't have settings in PPPoE for VLAN, PPP auth. type, or Encapsulation, so I can't set it to my network's specific settings, but I can't be sure that I'm getting at the right thing here. Would anyone know why WAN things may not work? The layout is roughly ONT -> WR1043ND -> APs.
The WR841N is good for its price even with stock firmware. Don't expect anything close to what people would rave about using Ubiquiti, MicroTiK, Cisco, or whatever else.
Mason Brooks
is an archer c7 any good?
Matthew Lopez
wrt1200ac or edgerouter x + unify ap ac lite It was good 4 years ago. But not anymore. Get a xiaomi mi3g and flash it with LEDE
I have a 615 D and it maxs my connection out at 90mbps. Maybe try ddwrt on it (i have the version just after that patched krack) if your version is supported. WiFi is turd on it though but it cost me £1 at a car boot sale so I don't really care.
Isaac Green
it's pretty good but its somewhat old by now so unless you can get it for a steal, don't bother.
Christian Jones
>xiaomi enjoy your hardware botnet
Justin Edwards
>implying your router isn't also made in China
Cameron Turner
Korea, actually. It's an US ally. So if I'm a part of botnet i hope it's the US one.
Look at this guy. He gives absolutely no fucks about your shit thread.
Henry Phillips
That's the shit router that people who couldn't afford a WRT54G got.
Jack Williams
just werks™
Brayden Morris
That's what my ISP gave me, the WiFi is pretty shit.
Charles Stewart
Anyone?
Dominic Morris
pfSense on a DL120 G7
Evan Ortiz
ive got a c7 v2 and currently have installed gargoyle 1.10 I believe was the version number. Did I make the right choice? I mean it works fantastic, can't complain much other than the openvpn .zip upload, will not work.
Carson Gray
>pffffftffftsense come on.
Isaac Gray
Archer C7 v2, stock firmware.
Not even considering anything else, used to switch routers about yearly out of frustration tho.
Cameron Miller
any reason why stock? updating it is very easy, unless you chose not to.
Joshua Edwards
Because I always try to use the supported standard for everything unless there's a specific problem I want to solve. It really helps with avoiding random, untraceable issues.
And I'm happy to report the stock firmware for this router is really fucking great, for one thing I've never seen so many fucking options with all the other ones I've had over the years.
I actually don't get people who flash this particular model to something else.
Jace Adams
Is gearbest legit? They seem to be having sales all the time and even have their own yt channel and all that
Henry Nguyen
Miktrotik RB750Gr3 plus WaP AC is comfy as fuck. RouterOS is awesome and beats ubiquity shit. If you want to go open source it's also piss easy to install LEDE on it. This all much cheaper than consumer tier gaeming pro routers.
Anthony Wood
Nighthawk(R) X4S R7800
Running stock firmware as i havent been getting around to try it custom firmware.
Anyone have recommendations for this router? Planned on putting in DD-WRT but OP says LEDE or Gargoyle, so explain yourself.
Ian Bell
What's a good router under $30. I just want everyone in my small house to have wifi.
Wyatt Hughes
can you autists recommend me a complex network system for my home? I need something real fucking complex, something that will require me to take a Phd in computer science, stay up all nights trying to solve bugs and something that I can brag about having on Sup Forums even if I'm being rapped in my unsecured ass anyways. I need the fastests shit because I need to transfer my 4k 60fps porn stream from my ancient thinkpad that doesn't even support HD to my 4K chinese not smart tv because I dont want to get hacked.
thanks desu (put other anime proverbs)
(imagine a hot anime girl pic attached)
Ethan Thompson
fucking got a wrt 3200ac and the fuckers Ethernet cables on the back gave out and only give me half the speed. fuck linksys
Eli Fisher
I'd like to try one of these, but my Linux-fu is no good :-( . anyone have any experiences with these to share?
Landon Collins
>implying your not being monitored
William Russell
Why would you recommend that xiaomi router over the Archer c7?
The C7 is a 3x3 mimo router with 2 more gigabit ports and a 150mhz faster cpu, while the xiaomi is a 2x2 mimo router. I don't understand what makes the xiaomi better when it has lower specs across the board outside of RAM.
Mi3G have dual core cpu with 600 BogoMIPS and could reach 65Mb/s with openvpn, over 90Mb/s with shadowsocks, 100MB/s read, 35MB/s write with usb3. >2x2 mimo router There is no real world difference with 3x3.
But on the end it's all about price. You cant beat xiaomi 46-50$ tag.
Landon Torres
Yeah they are legit
Luis Rogers
>not building your own router with Linux What, too poor for extra electricity?
Chase Bell
Didn't they have a security breach? Something about user accounts getting leaked.
Grayson Thomas
Use paypal.

1) What model router do you have? Netgear R7000 2) What firmware do you use? Is it up to date? DD-WRT, no 3) Have you considered business-grade routing? Yes
Is PC Engines hardware a good choice if I want to build a router?
