>Wayland + NVIDIA support when? When NVIDIA stops being CIAniggers and open sources their shit / t h r e a d t h r e a d
Joshua Martin
>Use integrated Intel graphics >Great battery life but dog-shit performance
assuming you are talking about GNOME on wayland, wait for gnome 4
that way you will have both great battery life and great performance
gnu/linux is an OS of the future, in all senses...
Blake Martin
>using NoVideo The GTX 760 is the last shit I'll ever buy from those kikes.
Daniel Bennett
>am also using a laptop Just end it already
Grayson Ward
I've also bought a laptop with a dedicated NoVideo GPU because I though t might come in handy, big mistake, the Intel GPU works good enough and if I want to play some vydia I'll use Steam to stream from my desktop.
Dylan Ortiz
buy a gsync monitor poorfag /thread
Hudson Long
>I edit videos >speed and screen stability are critical >have to give up former Fucking NoVideo
Adrian Morris
>that would mean buying a new g-sync laptop because I travel >"gayming" It doesn't stop
they did open source the bits that mattered but no one wanted to do it their way so they don't support it. You can do Wayland+NVIDIA today but the patches are not upstream
Ethan Mitchell
Gnome already supports Nvidia+Wayland with EGLStreams but it's completely useless because xWayland relies on GBM. The situation is a real mess...
Asher King
Intel HD3000 here, Intel graphics on gnome look like shit with a bunch of stuttering.
Jaxon Morris
Install a proper OS.
Adrian Gray
Nvidia Optimus is a bitch on Linux. It barely works right in Windows to begin with. Just use a desktop.
Elijah Ward
use nouveau then dumbass
Parker Collins
>The screen tearing of x.org I'm using nVidia's binary blob drivers, and I have never had a problem with this.
Colton Bennett
lol. They open-sourced exactly the bits that don't matter, that is just the glue code between their binary blob and the kernel interface.
Cameron Cooper
intel 4600 here can confirm
Ethan Price
>binary blob REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Josiah Parker
This thread is full of twats who've never even tried to configure their systems...
Tear-free video
The SNA acceleration method causes tearing for some people. To fix this, enable the "TearFree" option in the driver by adding the following line to your configuration file:
Option "TearFree" "true"
See the original bug report for more info. Note:
This option may not work when SwapbuffersWait is false. This option may increases memory allocation considerably and reduce performance. [5] This option is problematic for applications that are very picky about vsync timing, like Super Meat Boy. This option does not work with UXA acceleration method, only with SNA.
Asher Hill
I have Wayland and nouveau on my laptop, and when I try to switch between GNOME features on my top bar using the mouse, the menus are very sluggish, as if there was a frame drop or something. Is this issue only happening to me?
In general I saw better battery life while using nouveau, compared to the proprietary NVIDIA driver, would it be worth it to run the system like in windows, where I can pick which GPU runs a particular application?
