How does wifi work through walls?

it doesn't, it detects walls and curves around them just like a bat

Its a wave, it's basically light. Light goes through walls all the time

The frequency is lower and the wavelength is bigger so walls don't stop it.

Same way visible light goes through windows

Through black magic

Wifi... is a ghost.

Creepy, tbqh.

Magnets

How does radiation work through walls man?
Just walk away.

how come light goes through windows but not through walls? What's so special about windows?

Please dont open that can of worms dude

Wall is solid
Window is gas

By pretending to be xrays.
Walls can't tell the diff.

>wifi hits wall.
>does 360 and walks away.

Why can I move through air but not walls wtf they're both just atoms and shit

Make an exact copy of yourself on the other side (get instructions off your DNA), then kill the old yourself.

Heh, nice idea do you think that's fundamentally how ghosts do it?

wtf I love open source now

molecular alignments and composition basically

>DNA is all you need to make an exact copy of yourself

found the brainlet

Idk, you basically call youself at the other side.

windows are supercooled liquid not gas

Pores

How does light shine through glass?

glass can teleport photons, thats why you can't go through it but light can

different kinds of matter stop different kinds of wavelengths at different rates. Low wavelength and high wavelength aren't (as quickly) stopped as medium-wavelength (light) is.

> when you realize LEDs are just antennas broadcasting radio frequencies in the visible spectrum

Technically, the light curves around the glass.

> light can go through glass
> ir can't
> radio waves can go through walls
> light can't
WALLS ARE GLASS TO RADIO WAVES
PUT SOME CLOTHES ON THEY CAN SEE YOU

:l

>ambient temperature
>supercooled liquid

wifi is black art

pass through things with no regard

for safety of sperm

thank you

Have you ever touched a window that's been sitting there for awhile? Almost froze my damn nipples off when I got dicked against one

probably this

wifi is high frequency (2.4 ghz, 5 ghz) though and it reflects well off walls

how do my neighbors hear me crying through walls?

Underrated

It exists in it's own dimension where those walls don't exist. It just happens to overlap with our dimension.

i like this theory

but why is my room dark now then if light goes through walls?

Routers and other WiFi devices are just things that tap into that dimension directly to broadcast through it with the WiFi waves, like pebbles in water making waves.

I too, like Warhammer 40k.

Wifi is the spiral of the mountain god, king god, and spiral god.

Ice, come fire water. Water, come ice through fire. I block out the sun with my spiral of hate and method madness. I am the light in the spirit vessel.

This is wifi.

Yes.

Apparently its got something to do with how electrons are held in glass. They don't like to move so they can't absorb the light and move into a higher orbit iirc.

>wonders how wifi goes through walls
>doesn't wonder why his eyes don't melt when he looks into his microwave while heating up his hot pockets

>implying i don't wear safety glasses when microwaving my hot pockets

because micro waves aren't micro enough for the holes in the microwave micro wave shield

Because of the way energy dissipation works. It takes so much effort to go through objects so its charge so to speak is slowed.

>What's so special about windows?
the service pack.

Dude does look like a playable character in a computer/hacker related RPG

>character that powerful
>not an NPC or Boss character

With 64 years playtime, no wonder

>RMS used heal
>*eats own dead skin from foot*

Radio waves at lower frequencies penetrate matter. Submarines, for example, use a very low radio frequency to alert them to surface for higher bandwidth communcation with a satellite or terrestrial station.

In the case of wifi, channels in the 2.4GHz band penetrate walls much better than the 5GHz band, which tends to bounce off walls. This is why realistic range tests for 5GHz are always underwhelming compared to 2.4GHz.

This holds true for cellular usage as well. In this application, the 2GHz band is regarded as the upper limit of useful spectrum while the 700MHz channels are voraciously coveted because of its far superior penetration of buildings.

Wrong.
It's magic.

apu haiku thanks you

I don't think rms ever browses the internet in real time. He pulls email and webpages he wants from emacs and looks at them at his leisure.

You're right.

I thought this was stupid but it's actually a very interesting question.
Should've payed attention during chemistry.

Kek, 10/10

Sounds comfy

That's not considered high frequency.

> when you realize EYEs are just antennas receiving radio frequencies in the visible spectrum

DOOD WOAH

Photons

Glass is not transparent for all light. Just in the seeable spectrum. IR gets blocked for example.
> Why are some frequencies blocked and others not?
Glass is an amoprh material in contrast to other materials that are highly ordered. The electrons in these highly ordered materials are only allowed to have defined energies. It happens to be that the energy difference between two of these allowed energy bands is often similar to the energy of a photon from the perceivable spectrum. Thus the photon can be absorbed by an electron , which then is lifted in a higher energy band. Glass doesn't have a band structure, because it's amorph. Therefore it can't absorb these photons. There are still vibrational degrees of freedom, that can absorb IR photons though

>7778
I'd say magic, but some fucker is probably gonna try to explain it with some scientific mumbo jumbo

Well done, user.
Well done.

I unironically felt super smart when I first realized this

Everything is a field

>the 5GHz band, which tends to bounce off walls
Not bounce off. Absorbed by the wall.

This is clearly /sci/.

>Pressing your nipples against a window while dicking it
Never gonna make it.

Do we have an answer yet?

>Light goes through walls all the time
except in times when it's not
is this current state of Sup Forums ?

also, aren't wifi basically microvawes ?

Your damn right user.

Is ALL of the internet constantly flying around in the air everywhere in photon form?

Yes, Wi-Fi uses microwaves.

Yes, you are literary surrounded by loli when browsing lolis

Am I surrounded by darknet photons from somewhere in Russia?

>radio frequencies in the visible spectrum

uuuuhhhhhhhhhh

it's either radio or visible user

Risible

5GHz is very low frequency compared to visible light
Microwaves are in the ~1THz range
Visible light is in the 400-700 THz range

Wi-Fi literally is microwaves.

>Using a monitor
rms just places his hand onto a router (w/ free as in freedom firmware obviously) and pulls data directly from the Internet into his mine
M-x mindTCP-mode if you want to try it for yourself

Well, microwave bands go from 0.3 to 300 GHz, so you're right. 1THz is around microwave EPR frequencies, I need to get out of the lab sometime soon...

how do radio waves propagate? why do they exist?

See Maxwell equations. They contain basically the whole electrodynamics

Only if you browse the darknet, the wifi around you is full of things you're currently browsing.
This same encrypted ASCII of this post has penetrated all of your cells already when you're reading it. No homo.

Holy shit, you're right.
He is actually running GNU/Hurd on his brain as he works on it and tests it.

How the fuck do they work?

...

>Light goes through walls
the absolute state of Sup Forums

>when you realize that you only see the past happenings, but never the present, because of the time it takes to process the spectrum reveived from the eyes

What if I live in Japanese house made out paper.

He didn't specify visible light.
