How long untill adblockers become useless? The day it happens is the day I'm fucking done.

Why would they become useless?

uhh, infinity years?
the fuck kind of question is that?

This to be honest ill prolly stop using computers outside of work completely if that is ever a thing watching yourube with ads is pure AIDS

I will never understand how normies can stand that shit
>using a browser without adblock
>click on a random 2 minute youtube video
>unskippable 20 second video ad plays
I would kill myself if I had to deal with that every day, and I'm convinced that anyone who accepts it as normal has brain damage

They just don't know any better. They are indoctrinated.

you have to keep in mind that most people are rather dumb

I never really had issues with ads as much as I have issues with ads that harvest your usage information and try to target you. If we went back to impersonal banner ads that were simple images or gifs I'd be fine.

i dont know man. more sites detect adblockers and just throw a "disable your adblocker cuz we need to run this site" popup in your face. the fuck.

are there workarounds for this?

just get an adblock blocker blocker

such as?

fully. and whenever i say something like "wow so this is what it's like not having an adblocker" or "i don't know how you can stand having these ads" i get stuff like "you're such a nerd user" or "you care too much"

or even worse, there's people like my flatmate who hasn't blocked an ad in his life and has paid for every game, piece of media, and software licence he ever used. he's an aspiring game dev with an extreme "i wouldn't want people to block my ads or steal my content so i don't do it to them" kind of mentality.

those are the worst. poor innocent naive souls. I tell them its a huge attack point for malware.

It's when we start blocking all scripts instead.

GNU LibreJS is the future.

I installed uBlock Origin on my grandpa's browser, and even he gets mad whenever he sees so many ads when browsing on normie computers.

Ad companies are digging themselves a hole by making ads increasingly intrusive and malicious. Even Google already wants to fight against ads (except their own ones, of course), and if Chrome will block ads by default, ad companies will have no choice but to start playing fair.
The absolute worst thing a website can do to an ad blocker is to refuse to work, and that's not gonna be the solution if the majority of the visitors will just leave.

uBlock origin has a filter list for that. I think it's called uBlock protector.

Im expecting there to be some sort of subscription service for the entire internet where you pay 10 bucks a month and the site gets a few cents from that whenever you used their site.

When webassembly becomes mainstream

why do you say that?

Inb4 jewtube starts showing you "disable adblock before viewing" bullshit.

'anti adblock killer by reek' gets thrown around a lot, though it never really worked for me.
i just use the 'block element' option in ublock origin to get rid of the anti adblock overlays. also run umatrix to avoid any scripts that load that shit

why the fuck am i getting youtube video ads on linux mint, but not windows 8.1? using firefox with ublock origin and umatrix on both systems, with the same filterlists.

these ads are driving me fucking insane, how can anyone stand that shit? i download the videos with youtube-dl now to avoid them.

cant block ads in a binary blob

some ads are good though, if it wasnt for ads i wouldnt have learned of grammarly, best app ever

>There's a huge security breach with a common browser extension
>All major browsers unite for the "security of their userbase"
>Extensions made by the market are now banned and can only be released as proprietary and Secure™
>Adblocking is smeared as harmful to websites
>"They steal money from developers, user!"
>"They're ransomware!"
>"Google Goyim Virus Shield™ flagged unlock as a virus, dude"

Etc

but it won't change the way it's rendered for the user. it's treated as a JS module by the browser and you can choose not to execute it

HTML5 adverts. You cannot block them. See: Twitch.

I WANT EVERYTHING FOR FREEEEEEEEEE

EITHER PAY FOR A SUBSCRIPTION OR FUCK OFF AND WATCH YOUR ADS YOU DUMB NEETS

Why don't you make me, nerd?

Keep raging cuck web manager.

YES GOY! GIVE US YOUR MONEY!

I use twitch 5 to block those ads.

>Twitch.
I don't watch Twitch because I am not a faggot, but are these just ads in the videos?

Just make your own browser faggot.

just use streamlink then

They have always been, maybe not useless, but redundant

Run your own DNS and you'll see why.

Potentially compromising your security/privacy by unblocking ads is a hard price to pay for accessing a website. It's the ad industry's own fault for making adblockers attractive beyond just cosmetics

your servers aren't expensive enough to warrant use of and like in PCworld

simple, because normies just don't spend enough time on the internet/computer for the ads and shit to become a hindrance to them. they might just go watch a video or 2 and see the ads and don't really mind, if you're a no lifer like most people here who watch 10 times the amount of videos than it becomes noticeable and then you go install a blocker.

also, mobile devices have contributed to people being used to ads

when self hosted ads become popular. just go look at something like pornhub.. they have ads visible even if you have an adblocker because they are not hosted on external servers.

FREELOADER
>needs money to run services
>blames jews

they know about that too. thats why you get only a blank page with js disabled.

brilliant innovation to stop ad blockers.

This post is literally an ad baka

yes because embedding them directly in a video takes too much resources now but it might change some day.

They already are on some porn sites like paheal

Twitch has ads?

im not getting twitch ads lol

On the topic of uBlock, anyone find a to block Hulu Ads? None of the default 3rd party addons do it well. Just get the blank screen “cannot play ad, please turn off adblocker”

>You cannot block them
Are you retarded or what? All ads can be blocked at all PRECISELY because they're html based. The only unblockable ads are the ads embedded directly into video.

I don't "see" twitch. Show me a twitch video with ads. I haven't seen any. uBlock Origin can circumvent any form of html ads.

everything is blockable

Grammarly is botnet keylogger

Embedding them on videos. Twitch does it already. It's only a matter of time till sites like YouTube do it
