Are Zippos the Thinkpads of lighters?
Lighters are technology.
Are Zippos the Thinkpads of lighters?
Lighters are technology.
No, Bics are the ThinkPads of lighters. Zippos are the Macs of lighters.
This
They are the dark souls of lighters
THIS^2
No, I had a zippo for years because it's cool and it was a nice gift, but it's pretty bad actually.
Always something that needs changing, the fuel is used too quickly and it's not wind-proof at all.
Use random throwable cheap lighters or butane ones.
If you weren't an obese fedora wearing faggot you know that these things are fucking useless.
They're not waterproof - unlike bics
they're expensive - unlike bics
they need to be constantly maintained because the enclosure is not sealed and the gasoline just evaporates - unlike bics
and most importantly - they make your cigarettes taste like you deepthroated a gas pump - unlike bics.
Yeah. I put mine through the washer and dryer about 3 weeks ago after leaving it in my pants pocket. I pulled it out of the case and took the screw and felt cover off and left the packing to dry out overnight and refilled it the next day and it has been working well since then. Literally indestructible.
Just because it's shiny and silver that doesn't mean it's macshit. Unlike macshit, zippos are durable and work well.
Zippo is the cheap and stitty knock off from IMCO which are the actual great fucking deal.
They keep the fuel in for months, can be lit with wet hands and are generally fucking great
Zippo to IMCO is what a Lenovo Chinkpad is to an IBM Chinkpad
Zippo = Smelly Shit
Butane = Old Reliable
Arc Lighter = THE FUTURE
I put my bic lighters through the washer plenty of times and they always work afterwards. What's your point?
Basically Zippo was the gold standard before the Bic lighter was invented.
But it has been invented and it's a shitload better than using kero.
>implying your shitty dollar store lighter could survive three hours in the dryer
>implying it can't.
Zippo were (and still are) an inferior knock off of IMCO with much simplier design to drive down the cost of production.
Have a few zippo's but other then the lid sound, and doing tricks i dont like them. The more i use them the more i hate using them.
>not carrying a mini torch with you
Are you even trying, firelets? I can set you ablaze in minus 30 degrees
Holy shit I had one of these for about 3 years. One of my friends loved it and tried to steal it multiple times. It eventually got lost/stolen.
The wick was a serious PITA to change. Luckily you do it once and should last you years. Flints were easy to change. The sliding vent cover thing got loose all the time but stayed with the lighter. The paint on it fell off in little squares.
And they're definitely not windproof. Better than a Zippo, maybe even a bic when dealing with wind, but what lighter that isn't a torch really is?
Also tasted exactly like whatever fuel you put in it, just like a zippo. I've switched to bic lighters now, less hassle all around.
>firelets
hahaha you got me good user, well done.
I didn''t think they were anything special. Would explain why people are stealing them out of stores
Is this bait? Try it you simpleton.
>but what lighter that isn't a torch really is?
Arc lighters...
I can also set you on fire in -30 degrees.
Possibly also electrocute you at the same time...
>hes never owned a clipper
desu bics are shit
>1 inch jet vs 0.1 inch micro sparkles
i used to carry one of these around in the winter since it was always windy they good but destroy your fag/ zoot if you arent carefull also go through butane really quick
This is actually goat if you live in a frozen wasteland.
WTF am I looking at. Explain
I have a triple jet colibri, which is awesome since I don't actually smoke cigarettes and there is an integrated cigar puncher so I don't have to carry one separately.
Yes
But not those retro replica's like in OP pic.
electrical arc between two electrodes when you push the button.
sets shit on fire fast and without any chemicals.
has a built in li-ion battery, recharges via microusb.
>zippos are durable and work well.
except they lose their fuel within a few days.
How long before battery explodes?
>within a few days
Works for 7-10 days each time I refill it.
My mom got one and it's been just fine for four months
...
>Arc Lighter
is there even one that is made by a semirespectable company?
Been lighting my shit Trailer Park Boys style for a month
Where do I get one?
You can find them on amazon
What do I search for? What brand
Do they really keep the fuel for that long?
fpbp
MY zippo keeps it's fuel a day tops at elevations above 8K FT. The zippo hand warmer works great though.
>not just setting your hands on fire
The zippo hand warmer???
Yes, they make hand warmers.
WTF is special about them over generic ones?
Zippos are fucking shit. I owned an original one before a Ukrainian stole it from me, and it needed to be constantly refilled, you could smell the fluid when smoking (unlike butane lighters), it wasn't windproof as advertised (it didn't go out completely in a breeze, but you sure as fuck couldn't light anything then, and any kind of stronger wind put it right out), and it was way too expensive for its build quality.
Basically it's the Apple of lighters.
What about Dunhill and ST Dupont?
Where do you live where you need hand warmers?
there's nothing special
it's literally a repurposed zippo lighter to emit heat instead of lighting cigarettes, they work the same way, and have all of the same problems, the fuel evaporates within a week and is a literal fire hazard waiting to happen
>what a PLEB
>Didn't swap insert to butane capable one
>Didn't swap insert for torch type flame
Zippo can "match" every BICs and Torch out there and can be superior to others
BICs are generally less classy and for poorfags
also, Zippo makes other fire products which have better quality than most out there.
AND for those with ARC type lighters out there,
good luck making a campfire with that.
>don't even smoke
>want a butane zippo to play around with
fuck you
>not having an electrical arc-lighter USB-rechargeable
Fucking plebs, get out of my Sup Forums
No odor
Works in every meteorological condition
Virtually unlimited life thanks to USB
IT'S A FUCKING ARC
you just made a shitter bic you have to open lmao
>Implying that fire start devices are for only smokers
GO DIE ALREADY, LUNG CANCER DUDE
At least it wont clogged out as fast as your lint eating BICs
AND ITS MORE CLASSY AF
even if you try asking /fa/, its better than yo POORFAG BICs
smoking hasn't been classy or fashionable in decades
>li-ion hand grenade
>will go under 10% of its original capacity within a decade
>virtually unlimited life
The price
dude zippos are for clueless nerds who wear fedoras and trenchcoats thinking they're cool because they were 100 years ago, /fa/ consensus is clipper
catalytic lighters are the way to go
>micropenis lighting solution
Come back when you can shoot an arc two inches forward, what am I supposed to do with this garbage? Looks like a chick lighter for fruit flavored cigs.
>/fa/
/fa/g*
The g is silent
Bics are the chinkpads, have seen people literally throw them in the woods for half a year and come back with that shit still working.
Think about it, if you can leave some shit under the weather like that for half a year in the middle of the nastiest woods getting both rain and snow it's pretty bullet proof.
Old chinkpads were like that in terms of build quality, newer stuff from lenovo not so much but they still have decent RMA so there's that to consider at least
Trump is that you?
