Depressed IT Professional Thread

Post in this thread if you hate IT but were forced into working in IT by this shitty economy.

I'm considering getting an IT degree... I'm probably making a mistake, but, are there any jobs that don't require you to socialize or otherwise interact with any people, ideally including co workers?

I like to imagine I'm a computer detective instead.

Yea a lot, but thats not a good path friend.

>S&P 500 up every consecutive month last year, literally unprecedented growth
>unemployment at historic lows
>shitty economy
what did OP mean by this?

I wish I had a comfy IT job and could program on my own time instead of having to program about shit I actively hate all day with other people's pajeet tier vomit codebase

>what is disguised unemployment
>what is make-work
>what are bullshit jobs e.g. finance

Keep those blinkers on pal, you'll go far

what's bullshit about finance jobs?

Sometimes I have to 'fix' customers PCs... Makes me depressed honestly... So many garbage programs and a slow ass HDD... Everything so slow.

Usury, getting paid to move numbers around and sit in meetings feeling important smelling your own farts, wow so productive much significant contribution to society

All the 'growth' is going to rich assholes who already had untold amounts of money. The average person has seen barely any change.

jews

You're a fucking idiot. Try contractors being called employees. Try real wage rate. Try CEOs selling stock months when they find out there will be rocky waters. We are in dangerous times.

>get meme'd into IT
>with hacker culture and leet programming
>got into job
>literally my work is 5% coding and 95% talking

>try real wage rate
real wages have been stagnant since 1979.
>try CEOs selling stock
nothing new, thankfully he's being investigated.

this is as good as this fundamentally shitty economy is going to get.

>concedes that the economy is shitty
>still trying to somehow argue against my (correct) statement in OP

It's like some people pick arguments just for the sake of it even though they have nothing to back up their bullshit

I was doing decent in IT in college, but now I'm dropped out and I'm relying on my prior bosses boss who likes me well enough as a professional reference and now I'm waiting and trying to get a job at a company doing L1-L2 infrastructural work.

i think the economy could be better, but those are longstanding issues. if you were forced into IT by the current economic boom (lol), this economy will always be shitty for you.

>boom

Yeah growth has been great for all these soulless parasitic IT and corporate jobs, that's right

i'm assuming you would rather be a dev? it's been even better for them.

I count dev as IT bullshit also

Nobody makes anything tangible anymore. It's all incremental improvements on how to make some cunt's desktop process tranny porn faster

If you are forced into IT by economy, just learn machine learning (Keras, TF, Torch) and get AWS certification, do nothing a retard can't do, and earn shitton of money. I had to overcome myself to do that since I hate Lua/Python with a passion, but now I have no regrets.

Keep telling yourself that while I'm enjoying my ex-I.T life.
