Really good app gradually turns to shit because of the developers' money hunger
When you enjoy make something like that, and it really takes off, you never think about what's going to happen if it doesnt last forever. Kind of shitty to watch it all go so smoothly and just fall apart.

it was a legitimate Omegle killer until literally every feature had to be paid for with "coins" and each "coin" cost a dollar.
TouchPal was the best keyboard until it got bloated with malicious adware and popups

I tried using synergy lately, it's been a long since I last tried it. The linux version is fine and has all the features but they split the windows code up. There's the base GPL version with a "enter your license key" blocking something basic like network encryption.
If you try to download it from the official website it wants you to buy a key before it gives you a download link.
Fuck you, I'll use something else.

Omegle was actually really fun in 2010-2012. Less pervs and robots. You could actually have meaningful conversations on there.
Chatous had a similar feel for a while. I was kind of surprised. But then it turned to shit again.

They sold out to another company
I gave up on that shit after I saw how often it contacted the new company's servers (cheetah mobile is shit). Using the simple galley from fdroid now - freedom restored.

pretty much every single project gets pushed in that direction, because almost all programmers think adding features is fun and fixing bugs is dull. for paid software there's also the fact that the marketing shitheads know that new features sell copies but bugfixes generally don't. (This is why Microsoft has a new UI framework every three years)
