the artists retain ownership over these things the only thing you owned was the media it was on but now we are coming to an era where there is no need to ship things on a piece of media
it's a copy with a valid license. whether you call a copy not worthy of the original or not is up to everyone. but the license is actually just something the industry has made up to make money. When you don't have the copy local, the services that have the things on their server and make all the money can fuck up all your things if they feel they have the reasons.
You do realize it's very easy to just permanently store temporary data coming to your PC from Spotify, Netflix, YouTube and other streaming sites? Nobody will know if you do it. Anyway, you can torrent media for personal use.
