Why doesnt someone just make a linux distro that runs exe files?

why doesnt someone just make a linux distro that runs exe files?

Unironically this.

oh sweet summer child

ReactOS

wh doesn anyone make distro tyo play all game? lol?

This is b8

your kernel probably has MISC support enabled. nothing is stopping you from making a binfmt entry for exe's

This seems interesting, but it's still in beta right? And how come I always see people suggesting "use ReactOS" on here but they never explain what it is?

this lol.

I don't think it is even in beta. Haiku OS is almost in beta. ReactOS is still in Alpha. I can't wait for Haiku to reach beta then all they need to do is do a feature freeze and fix all the remaining bugs and do some cleanup. The day Haiku is released for V1, I'll switch to that.

Oh, yeah it just reached alpha last month, I read it wrong. Are there any differences between Haiku and React?

Why doesn't some just make a windows distro with the programming penguin?

fwhy not a distro that has all the porns?

>exe files

Haiku is BeOS reborn.
ReactOS is Windows 95 reimagined by Russians.

Oh ok... so what's the point of either of them? Why would you need a FOSS version of Windows 95 when you can pretty much do the same with GNU/Linux themes? And why would you want a free version if you're going to run proprietary software anyway? And I've never even heard of BeOS

Sorry I probably sound like I have a stick up my ass with this post but I just don't get the purpose of them.

Just use a distro that supports WINE

The absolute state of Sup Forums.

ZorinOS or just install wine on Debian or Ubuntu if you aren't stupid. It's the same thing

The Haiku project started over 10 years ago and hasn't had a major release in over 5 years. Why in the actual fuck would anyone use something this poorly supported

youll get a virus senpai

So, what's the story on Haiku? I was extremely excited about BeOS back in the day, It brought stuff that Microsoft didn't even think about until Longhorn, and then dropped.

But how can any OS nowadays be useful unless it either 1) supports MS Office + Google Chrome at a minimum or 2) supports bash + GNU + package management?

I assume Haiku won't seamlessly install and run software packages straight out of Linux-land, right? Which means it's nearly useless for LAMP (or whatever it's called these days) development.

And what will happen when this exe starts making windows system calls and generating windows UI elements?

Why is Sup Forums so cancerous
